DVC Lost Luster, Badly Broken

We like many of you have been to Disney many times, we visit about five times a year and have thousands of pictures, so we don't bring a camera with us much anymore. But reading the many posts with regards cleanliness and maintenance, its a mixed conscious. The Boardwalk is our my home resort's and we love it, just like all the other DVC resorts. What we found was disturbing, what we heard confirmed from management was honest as far as we're concerned. But another fact that the supervisors explained was that the condition of the rooms sometimes after people get through is disgusting trashed and filthy. Who knows the whole story of room 2033 but for our liking we don't like this and as I explained to the supervisors that's non negotiable. The members bought this building and if having owner dedicated rooms is the answer keeping others away then that's what's needed. We also belong to the Marriott Vacation Club and Marriott has just that owner rooms in perfect condition. Marriott reserves the newest or recently renovated rooms for the home resort owners, great policy and idea. Be great to see Disney learn a lesson from a very successful hotel company. What we found is that Disney is best at giving a experience and not the best at timeshare compared to Marriott. We do own the place or hold the lease for 30 or so years and DVC works for us.

You continue to reiterate how bad the rooms were, but you still don't say how management compensated or tried to compensate you. I find them very accommodating when there is a problem. I understand the problem, but what did they do to fix it other than give you lip-service? If absolutely nothing was done, then the problem is bigger than just poor quality of rooms.

Just wanted it noted that I am Deb & Bill and not Debbie & Bill. ;)

Thanks for clearing that up Deb. At first I thought it was you posting and I started rethinking any plans we have for a return visit to BWV anytime soon.

I just stayed at BWV.....I found the place to be in great shape....my room was perfect....hallways...everything.

I didn't have a BW view so I didn't go down those hallways....but I thought everything actually exceeded my expectations...after some reports here.

While I highly value most of the posts on Disboards, I would never cancel or or alter a vacation plan based on someone's report. Have more faith in your instincts! Take all of this with a very small grain of salt.:wizard:

You know, although many seem to not believe the original poster, I think it is just not right to act like they are trolling or lying or expanding on the condition of the room.
People should not feel if they have a complaint they shouldn't post for fear of being attacked. It's great that for the most part everyone had had great experiences and their room was perfect, but that doesn't mean if someone has a bad experience they are making it all up.

We did have a catastrophe in our BW villa last fall - a light bulb burned out when we turned it on. Housekeeping brought a new one in about 10 minutes. Oh...and we found a dead ant in the tub. It was awful, just horrible! I guess we should have asked for another room?

But seriously, to us, things on the whole look pretty good at BWV. I'll admit the hallway carpets are looking a little worn, but I love those little footprints in the sand.

After one spends years (on the DVC boards) and reads tens of thousands of DVC critiques and reviews... one gets a real good feel for what is exagerated and what is passing on pertinent info. Trolling on the DVC boards is a pretty common event. Sometimes it is hard to spot, sometimes it is not.

We bought into DVC because of the well-deserved great reputation Disney has in providing great service and a wonderful family experience. I am not surprised that some issues will come up from time to time, but it is how they are responded to that is most important. For Disney, the guest is always right, and they will bend over backwards to make sure are you satisfied. I find it hard to believe that the room was as bad as the OP describes, but what I find less believeable is the poor response the OP says they got from Disney.
Interesting how the OP got a plug in for Marriott...:lmao:

I, too, would really love to see pictures. But we need to remember that these things can happen; after staying in a horribly rundown unit at the Beach Club Villas (which I found another DISer who stayed in it before us and had the same issues), I can believe it. DVC seems to not maintain the units as they should be, and I hope 2033 isn't a victim of cost cutting measures and a lack of maintenance.

I totally agree with you. Being called a troll is a nasty thing to say.. being attacked is not great either. I will never post anything bad on here again. Members are rude, they just dont want to believe that something could be wrong with disney. Sometimes the trips are not all that nice. But its life. Of course just because you have one bad trip you are not going to boycott disney. I myself want issues to be fixed for the next time I go. I want it to be enjoyable. I had a bad trip and you all called me a troll too, but hey look guys I am still around!! And going to disney in june.

I hear ya but while I do trust my own instincts I also trust certain folks here on these boards. I have rarely been steered wrong by their opinions and Deb & Bill fall into that catagory. That's why I was a little confused at first.

I think something to remember is that every few months there are reports of bad rooms - and they've been a regular occurance for as long as I've been here. Perhaps some of them are trolls, but some of them are from posters with a good reputations - so it seems reasonable that there are times when the room is in LOUSY shape.

However, since there have been times when the room has been in lousy shape for YEARS, I'm thinking that, unless there are a lot more room reports where the room has been unacceptable, this isn't a change over the way its been - its just a sign that DVC still hasn't bothered to fix what are occational quality control issues.

(I think the BWV carpet "looks" dirty, I was finally paying close attention to the "dirty" carpet last trip, and the corners of the hall - where there isn't any traffic - they are the same dingy yellow. Now rips and worn areas, those aren't "meant" to be there).

I am not sure what you're saying... I hope that means you're not going to change your plans because of a thread started by a poster that has almost never posted here.

As Crisi said (sort of)... this could be true or trolling. You would be "mission accomplished" if it is the latter. Read the posts from the people you know and who have just been there.

I want to believe the OP. They just needed to back up their assertions with facts/pictures/documentation. I'm not going to believe them just because they said so....

When they didn't back up their original post with anything substantive, that's when the trolls began flying...

Some seem offended by the intimations that the OP is a troll. Not my take at
all. Based on DVC experience and long time internet browsing, I'd say we're either dealing with a 12 year old liar, or someone who has issues with Disney
or DVC and is lying in order to make them look bad. If that offends them; tough....I'm always suspicious of those who think the internet is their personal court of appeal..
