Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has ever put together a friendly generic letter to a potential guest or family member outlining the commitment that the guest is undertaking in being invited and agreeing to go on a free DVC vacation with your family. Would love to just print one off and hand it to family members prior to booking a trip as the more we try to explain DVC and booking time frames the less they seem to listen.

I have read here about many nightmares with guests cancelling at the last moment (after all those points have been used for larger accomodations and cannot be banked, etc.) and with guests complaining about beds, sofa beds, and expecting maid service, and that the host and hostess cook and clean up after them.

Thinking about inviting some family along in the future and would be happy to have them as our free guests. Just wondering if there is some way of letting them know what is at stake with our booking the trip thinking they have accepted our invitation with the happiest of intentions, etc.

And at bottom, it would be nice if they were willing to at least share some expenses, like food, etc.

How is the best way that you have found to go about this so that everyone knows what they are getting into up front and the trip is indeed magical??

Hi , I have been on both ends- when my friend took me- they had the room but her kids slept on the sofa so I could have the bed- i got her kids Disney dollars-paid for ice cream and snacks in the room- took stuff the kids would like- glow necklaces.

I just took my sister to mine- never asked for anything-told her about the maid service- she shared her portion of the bottled water and got my son a cool jacket from mt everest and a dooney and bourke disney purse for me! You have to understand, even though you take a guest- it is still their vacation too. Don't think because it is your room you can run the vacation. I am with you on the idea that if you plan on the points- they are resposible if they should back out- you'd lose them. Maybe work out cash for your dues and enjoy the extra room.
