DVC Direct Price Increase Coming February 2026

But I really don’t need the points yet, and may not for several years.
This year's increase is more or less in line with inflation. I would not buy just to get "a deal"--especially because the ROI of renting out full-frieght developer points is also not great. If you can use them? Fine, buy them. Otherwise, wait until you need 'em.

I’ve never been able to part with those current UY points. Those points are priceless while our girls are young.

Saving money is only a small part of this equation. Very strategic, but also with a lot of emotion! We want our portfolio to be efficient, flexible and future/succession resilient. That’s the goal anyway.

See I was the opposite. That MB check felt like free money, it was great. (I know it wasn’t)

I agree generally with the wait until you need the points to buy part, but I do think that equation might change if you want direct RIV points, since it will likely be sold out in the next year, or if you're interested in the CCV "flash sale" since we have no idea when they might put direct CCV points on sale again. I have to think, once LSL goes on sale, it is unlikely we'll see a CCV sale until LSL is sold out.

And, thus, that is part of how I will likely rationalize myself into some direct CCV points 🙃.

Doesn't raising the price every year just make resale more and more attractive?

I feel like they almost had to tack on that $500 fee to push people direct.

We had such a beautiful time at CVV this month (what a difference a refresh and a one bedroom make!) that we've decided were most likely going to wait for LSL to go on sale before making a direct purchase. I would hate to buy now and then have FOMO about the new best pool or that this is where we want to be for the holidays. I promise I will be direct one day 🤣🤣

Although I may or may not have been cruising on dvcforless.com looking for 250 more SSR points 🤣🤣 Going from a one bedroom to a studio right now is rough 🤣🤣

I think with PVB a ways from selling out you will have time to wait and see about LSL. I’m kind of intrigued by LSL too. Hopefully whichever way you decide you will be able to get into the other occasionally at 7 months.

I’m feeling some pressure at RIV too, knowing they once it sells out that’s a massive game changer for RIV points. That’s what made me add on my last 100 at RIV!

It's interesting. You'd almost expect there to be some increase in resale pricing over time, but looking at the above, hard to see any resort where that has happened. If anything, steady or decreasing over time.

On the $500 fee, also interesting - ROFR and contract transfer times have gotten better so much in the past few months. If DVC keeps that up, I almost feel like this $500 fee makes resale more attractive, particularly if there are points upfront you can use (as opposed to a stripped contract). Really going to be interesting to see what affect, if any, this fee has over time.

Glad you enjoyed CCV! You're making me more excited for my stay 1/31-2/7. Since you're not going for RIV, it probably makes sense to wait for LSL unless Poly has some sort of big sale (which I think is unlikely). In the meantime, if you need some more SAP, hard to go wrong with some cheap SSR points.

I agree! Many people on the board have advised me to wait to see what LSL is like and I agree! Although it will be hard!

I have one contract on the dec uy and my wife got december approved off from work next year again. So if we go in Dec again next year thats only 180 points to work with, its simply just not enough for my one bedroom dream lol. Yes all other points will be used before then 🤣

And then there's the hope that lsl will be on sale by end of next year and i cam buy it and book a welcome home stay somewhere hard to get for christmas and sail off into the sunset, but then id be breaking my own advice of stay before you buy i give to everyone 🤣🤣🤯🤯

I think ive made enough friends on the board to ride their very kind and gracious direct coattails for member events (Yes a very kind disboard blue got us into Hoop dee Holidays 🤣 I feel like a resale scrub) until I can decide.

At least I know it HAS to be either poly or lsl so I was taking solace in that and then we went to PIT today to see if they do any nice decorations for the holidays and my wife had the nerve to tell me you know, we ARE going to Aulani next year, what if we love it and buy direct there??? 🤯🤯

Just remember there are a lot of different logistics. New resorts don't give points in every UY. It all depends on when it opens. If you take MB there could be no points to play with for almost two years and no way to secure a welcome home stay.

On the other hand, if you buy something open like PVB IT with a Dec UY and want a seven month Dec reservation you could be missing an entire UY worth of points just to get a welcome home stay.

This is all to say MB and WH are still offered in the current capacity.

Ay no please make it stop 😭😭 lol

So if I decide to wait for LSL i might not get a dec uy? Because I do NOT need another uy, no sir lol!

So youre thinking pit sooner would be better it seems 🤔🤔🤔 I do know we already love the resort after all

Just noting for you that there is a current CCV sale where 150 points are about the same price as 150 Poly points. Just in case you want to think about it.

If not, waiting for LSL vs. Poly probably makes sense. Personally, I've convinced myself (although I may well be wrong) that LSL is going to be pretty easy to book at the 7-month mark unless you're a resort studio sort of person. I think the resort will be massive, and 7-month availability is going to be somewhat similar to RIV - 1 BRs and dedicated 2 BRs will probably be easy to get. And, the cabins will probably be so many points that they are also easy to get at the 7-month mark.

By the time LSL opens, we might also have a bit more clarity on how difficult 1 BRs at PIT are going to be to book at the 7-month mark. I think availability has been very skewed by all the existing PVB points able to book into PIT. And, of course, we'll have to see where the dues for LSL comes in.

I honestly don't think you can go wrong with PIT since you know you love it. Dues are low, resale value is likely to stay high, and I think LSL is going to be pretty easy to book at the 7-month mark for most room categories, especially since you're a 1 BR person.
