I have worked the numbers time and time again. I am getting a headache thinking anymore about it :headache:. So I though some fellow DVCers might be able to assist. We are going on our next family trip at the end of June 2012-Begining of July 2012 for 12 days:banana: (Our longest trip yet:rotfl:.) I am trying to figure out if it would be worth it to get DVC AP versus 12 day MYW Passes Parkhopper passes. At this time we are not sure if we will get two trips on the AP before having to renew. That is a little to far out for us to plan for a 2013 Trip.

Our scenario would be we would need 2 adult passes and one child (age 3) all parkhoppers. Can any of you assist with the number break down? We want to get the best deal for our money, as we all do.

Side note: We have done DVC APs before and didn't mind them. Didn't like having a separate ticket from our room key but oh well. That was before our 3year old.

Thank for any assistance.
:thumbsup2

Twelve days at the end of June into July? Are you sure you don't want to consider the water park options, as well?!? Maybe not with a 3 yo :confused3

I am not sure Disney sells more than a 10 day MYW ticket. At least it does not look like you can purchase that online. You may want to call member services to see if that there is an option for a ticket with greater than 10 days or if you would have to buy a 10-day and a 2-day. If the latter is the case, the DVC AP would be cheaper . . . in fact, a premium AP may end up being cheaper, and then you would get the water parks!

If you're from the States, you can't get a ticket longer than 10 days.

But adding the waterparks and more option onto the tickets gives you 10 days in the main parks, and 10 *visits* to the, well, waterparks and more. :) I think it's the same as the cost to add hopping, so add the hopper and add the waterparks and more, and you're up a bit over $100 per person, and you have lots of things you can do in your 12 day visit.

For tickets alone, the 10 day ticket is cheaper for a single trip. 10 day with water parks is even cheaper (409 vs 410) than a DVC AP with no waterparks.
If you must have those 2 additional park days then the AP is cheaper. (Because you would buy an additional 2 day ticket)

But, you may want to look at AP discounts. With a current 10% (or 20%? For PAP)at most Disney merchandise locations in the parks, it may be worthwhile getting 1 AP to get the discounts.

If you take advantage of the water parks and not go into the parks everyday, the MYW is less expensive.

We have taken our children to the water parks at age 1. They love it! They get to move around, no waiting (or little) in lines for a day, they are wet and playing. There is so much to do with little ones at both water parks. If you are DVC owners, you may be even able to pool hop part of your stay. Great way to enjoy some down time.

I honestly would not take a 3 yo into the parks every day especially in the summer. They get cranky and unhappy even in WDW. DH and I have always said day 3 is meltdown day. The kids need a break from the parks. There is so much to do outside the parks that is relaxing yet you still feel the magic. Go to the petting zoo at FW and then go see Cinderella's horse there too.

If the price is not too different, get the annual pass! To me it is worth it to NOT think about going to a park for a few hours and wasting a day. I have had years where I have probably paid a bit more, but the relaxation is worth it. Plus, with the annual pass, it is super easy to get it replaced if lost!
