I received in the mail today a letter from Disney for my annual pass renewal. It states I receive $115 discount for being a DVC member. "Savings listed reflects the difference between the regular non-DVC Member price and the DVC Member renewal price and does not include tax." The price is $298.20 including tax. Yet, the price before tax is $280 which is $75 off the $355. Where does the $115 calculate? Anyone else receive this renewal notice?

They are comparing the cost of a brand new, non-renewed, non-discounted AP ($395) with the DVC-discounted AP renewal ($280.)

Sounds to me (and I think the math works) that they are actually comparing the regular (i.e. not renewal) non-DVC member price with the DVC-member renewal price. That way you SEEM to be saving even more $$ -- but really since you got the renewal notice so they KNOW you'd be renewing it should be comparing one RENEWAL rate to another. Shame on Disney for that one!

I think that's a little harsh. Disney is simply communicating that the poster is getting a total of $115 off of the "normal" price of an AP due to the two discount programs offered (DVC and AP Renewal.) They are under no obligation to provide either discount, so I don't see the harm in highlighting them.

They are also pointing out the discount received for renewing the pass rather than letting it lapse and getting a brand new pass during a future visit.

Reading the quote a second time, I agree, Disney is clearly specifying the bases for their comparison: "Savings listed reflects the difference between the regular non-DVC Member price and the DVC Member renewal price and does not include tax."

What is the best way to get the ap discount passes? Go to the disney store? Call DVC? What do you guys recommend?
Thanks
Chris

Got mine @ Guest Relations in DTD. Took less than 5 minutes. Be sure to have photo ID, DVC card & some form of payment.

Thanks Chris

If you are a DVC member, then I highly recommend the DVC discount for annual passes. That was the price that was best for us compared to other sources like AAA, Shades of Green, etc.
