Hello VMK, I just got the message that I have been banned for unappropriate behavior in VMK, when in my opinion my behavior was entirely appropriate! Under your full house rules, you don't allow " obscene, racist, or sexually explicit language, nor do we allow chat or activities that are not consistent with the VMK site." And you ban the communication or
solicitation of phone numbers, addresses, Social Security numbers, or any other personally identifiable information." I adamantly believe I didn't break these or any of the VMK Values today.
I was warned earlier this morning for not using dictionary-approved words to mean words that weren't in the dictionary. I thought that was fair, but did feel it was odd to get a warning for using the code words for numbers seeing as the staff and even the developers such as Yavn use them to help players out with VMK.
So you can see the full context of my words (for which I was warned), our conversation was that we were speculating on the cost of the upcoming Flying Carpet Magic Pin, seeing as the word we have been getting from Yavn and others that it will be in stores. So TheWolf, CL_GBShorts, CL_LuxoJr and I were using the number code words to "guess-timate" the price. So we were found saying things like "it might be for tee grand credits!" Or in my most creative way to say 1000 credits..."then to the -shape of the trees in Central Plaza." (or 10 cubed). We were talking about something in VMK, which I feel was very appropriate behavior. I wasn't using numbers to find out personal information, I wasn't being racist or obscene. I was just trying to speculate with friends what the price for the Flying Carpet Magic would be.
And this brings me to what I believe got me banned: helping out another player with getting Fireworks magic. He asked the room we were in how to get fireworks magic. Seeing as I am a Community Leader and it is my job to help out players who don't know VMK like the back of my hand like I do...I decided to help him out. Just like I've done with many people, I told
him "you have to get too for ty house and points and not win."
Apparently, because I used "too for ty house and" to say "Two hundred forty thousand," I was acting inappropriately! Apparently, helping someone out by giving them information about VMK is something you can get banned for now! I suppose I could have told him "get a very hi score," but I didn't because I felt that to fulfill my duty as a Community Leader I need to
give him as much information as I can about the game and how it works. I believe to make people understand, you need to give them as much information as you can. If I left him ignorant of the specifics of winning the fireworks magic and just gave him a vague, but "dictionary approved" answer I don't think I would be writing this now, but I would feel bad
that I didn't help out a player as much as I could!
Please, VMK reconsider my ban...and the reinstatement of my community leader status. I have been playing VMK since the very first day the public beta has been opened and I haven't had any problems like I did today. I was also one of your very first choices for community leader when they were announced. Since then, I've made a name for myself as one of the most helpful, friendly, and level headed players in the Kingdom. I daresay my actions were completely in line and I wholeheartedly feel that this is an unjust ban as it not only disallows my entrance to the kingdom for two hours, but it also takes away my community leader title.
Thank you for reading this, and I do hope you will reconsider this ban.
