Duck poop in pools- What's up with that?

Just to let you know that urine is actually sterile. Normal urine shouldn't have any bacteria in it, so other than the gross-out factor, it's perfectly safe to swim in a pool that someone has peed in.

Urine is sterile but humans butts are another mater, lol! We have a hot tub and I can tell you by how chlorinated the water smells at WDW I am sure it is at nuclear levels and not much can live in it. When we have been there I have constantly noted someone checking
"levels" of chemicals and the filter system...Since I have monitor ours and know how difficiult it can be this has become my hobby..I know I need to get a life!

I think that the fountains at DTD and other places have the H2O filter ed and treated before reusing or it goes into WDW water recycling for landscape watering. If not there would be many more sick kids and I doubt if the Florida health dept would allow it.

The name of the bacteria that is found in lakes is called leptosyrosis. It is caused by the goose and the duck feces. I would imagine that if the pool is chlorinated this bacteria will not affect anyone.

You know, I thought the thread I read a while back on the AOL boards that went into great detail about how women use the bathroom and all the problems that go with it was about as gross a topic as I'd read in a while ( and no, I'm not trying to start that subject up again, please!:) ). This one beats that one all to heck.

I tried to close this post last night, peachgirl but tech support said that after there has been 1 response, the author can not delete(I didn't know this but makes sense). Do you think it's time for a moderator to close this? I'm ready! Threehearts

They belong, on your plate, right next to some wild rice, with a nice orange sauce.

This thread has made laugh quite a bit. I thought it was cute to see the ducks taking their morning swim in the pool. If you're that afraid of germs then don't go swimming in that pool. I'd worry more about the amount of urine from people(adults as well as kids) than I would about a duck swimming in it.Lets not forget the ones who don't bathe and go swimming either. Ick!

I tend to agree... Birds and Ducks are Birds and Ducks... they take to water!

Threehearts....
Kinda makes ya' sorry you said anything, doesn't it?:) :) You may be right. I think everything that could be said about this subject has been. Of course, I sort of knew what I was going to get when I gave into temptation and read this thread. Bring on the moderator~;)
