Dropping Something Off To Be Signed?

Hello - just to confirm, they no longer allow items to be dropped off at Guest Services to be signed by the characters right? I still see this tip everywhere but am also sure I've heard they stopped this free service recently.

If true, will characters sign other things besides autograph books at meet and greets? I'm thinking like a photo mat or pillowcase... obviously with a sturdy backing and big sharpie. I love the idea of this kind of souvenir.

Thanks much.

It was stopped about a year ago. You can still bring items to be signed during the meet & greets, however. Just be aware that some characters can't sign. Items for signature must be flat, so you can bring photo mats and pillowcases.

I am so happy that you asked this question. We cruised last March, and the program was still going on. We had a Princess story book signed by all the Princesses on board, and a photo mat with all the characters. I would have tried to do it again.
I would think that anything they sign in the parks could be signed on the cruise. On our last visit to MK, we brought photo mats to be signed. We just put them on a clipboard but most of the characters wanted the clipboard off. I have friends that brought in canvas bags to be signed and then sealed it in. They are great Disney bags now!

Thank you so much for confirming. And I LOVE the idea of a story book! Thank you!

We did the photo mats on our first cruise and then framed pictures of the girls in it for their rooms. One thing we did in the parks years ago with my oldest was, she traced pictures and colored them of each character she wanted to meet. We then got each character to sign their picture and my wife put them in a scrap book. The characters really loved this idea and were very interactive with her because of this.

Ah shoot I found out about the guest service idea after my first cruise, and was going to bring something to drop off with them this time... Thanks for letting us know they no longer do that. Same on all ships right?

No way I'm going to lug around a large piece of photo mat everywhere for autographs (YMMV, knowing myself I'd constantly be worried about it getting bent/smudged/etc. and risk being grumpier than is really necessary).

Just a FYI: we have the clipboard below to carry our photo mats at the parks. We can fit 3 mats and all the Sharpies (have used regular size clickable and the fine tips) we want in them and it fits easily in a sling/cinch bag and is not heavy.

It might be helpful on a cruise too to keep them safe. Just grab when you go to meet and greet and it's all together.

It is such a bummer that they stopped this. We cruised last July (2015) and the photo matte we were able to drop off was my favorite souvenir from that trip. Hopefully they will reconsider that decision.

Ha thanks, what a great suggestion. We have a clipboard folder almost exactly like that one, just opens the other way (like a book, if that makes sense). Was going to bring it in the luggage to hold a bit of homework/journal/craft stuff for my son, but yeah it may have yet another purpose...
