Driving to Clearwater

Hi all - has anybody recently driven to Clearwater/St.Petes?

Just wondering what the situation is regarding roadworks etc.

Planning on taking our son to the beach on our August holiday, have been there a few years ago and remember it was just under 2 hours I think.
Any recent experiences?

We stayed at Indian Rocks between Clearwater and St petes in June. I took us an Hour and half to drive from Disney. If i recall there were road works around Tampa and at the start of one of the highways (closer to disney) but we still didn't have any hold ups.

Yes it took us one and a half hours to clearwater from kissimmee, but we did get caught in some traffic on our way back and it took 2hrs 15 this was this June
