This will be our first trip to Disney World as a family (1 Daughter-4). It takes about 11 hours. Any tips? We will be leaving at about 6pm. :yay:

We are also in VA- SW Virginia and we have only driven once (and hopefully never again!) We have 3 kiddos and it was a LONG trip for everyone involved. It took us at least 12 hours to drive it and we split it up into 2 days. We borrowed a small tv for the van and watched movies and tried to play car games. I printed up a bunch of games and coloring sheets (disney) from the internet to try and keep the kids happy. Also packed snacks and drinks and when we stopped for fast food, we always had the kids play in the play area to run off some energy while DH and I ate and then got their kids meals to go and they ate in the car. Driving is definately not for us in long distance travels. We will stick with flying, but your DD may be perfectly happy for the ride- especially since there are no siblings to argue with!

Andrew, hope you have a GREAT visit to Orlando.

With your 6pm departure and 12 hour drive time, you'll be passing through Jacksonville pre-rush hour. Just stay on I-95 straight through as there should be little traffic. South of St. Augustine there is construction in Flagler County as I-95 is widened from 2 to 3 lanes each way; there could be some narrowing to a single lane at night so'll you'll be slowing down to the speed of whoever is in front of you. But that's just a relatively short stretch which opens back to 3 lanes in Volusia County (Daytona area). Before 5am traffic remains light in the Orlando area but if you're coming through from 5:30am or later things could begin to get thick in places. You're probably best to still stay on I-4 through downtown into the WDW area.
