5-10mph over. Cruise control for sure, definatley more fuel effiicient. For those of you that choose to drive at or around the speed limit, I can respect that, honestly, safety first. But if you do, please stay out of the far left lanes. I drove from Orlando to Atlanta yesterday and I can't tell you how many slower drivers there were in the left lanes. Talk about dangerous.
I refuse to drive dangerously fast no matter what lane I'm in- in RI the speed limit is 55 in most areas. In the fast lane the fastest I go is 70 mph. Never had a speeding ticket. If the lead foot behind me doesnt like it, they can pass me out. But, I'll be laughing like crazy when I see them get pulled over..:rotfl:

My husband got a speeding ticket in southern GA on our trip from MI. We found out when we hired a lawyer to get the ticket reduced that the county he got the ticket in is a known speed trap. They have a bit of a racket going. The lawyer says they will pull over any out of state plate in the hopes that the person will just pay the ticket to get it over with.

I'm a very careful and considerate driver; driving 35 years and never had a ticket of any kind. I respect the fact that you are a safe driver but please stay out of the far left lanes if you wish go "slower".

No, I won't stay out of the left lane. Sorry. I can see someone who is doing way under the speed limit in those lanes being a bad thing, but if I am doing the speed limit or slightly above there is nothing wrong with that. After all, you aren't going to pay my speeding ticket if I get one.

Please have consideration for others- your life or anyone else's shouldnt be in danger because you want to drive dangerously.

FYI - I'm completely reconciled to the fastpass thing. I mostly showed up on time; only occasionally did I miss a window. Remember -- when I draw a FP for a ride, it's because I want to ride it, usually as soon as possible without waiting two hours for the privilege.

No pot stirring here at all -- but perhaps some valuable safety tips, almost as important as "Don't cross the streams." ;)

Hm, so what was this asking for phone # about...:rolleyes1

In your own words have consideration for others on the road. It isn't up to you to decide how fast anyone but you drives. What you are doing is incredible rude and controlling. What a power trip and for your information a ticketable offense in some states. Ever see the signs saying slower traffic keep right? Who do you think they are referring to?

People going to slow cause more accidents than those speeding because people get impatient and try to pass and also passing on the right is much more dangerous and caused by inconsiderate drivers like your self.

Why do you need to be in the Passing lane if you aren't passing? That is what was taught to me by my Father gazillion years ago and what I taught mine. If you aren't passing get out of the passing lane!

I understand that there are crazy, inconsiderate drivers out there; I've seen it all too often! But what's wrong with moving over to the right hand lanes and letting those that wish to go faster do so? Just be mindful that there may be others that want to go a bit faster; nothing reckless mind you but faster than the speed limit.

Why, if I already well above limit but still in no ticket zone, why should I move. I will not. And I will not move faster. I do not move slow, I am already almost 10 miles over limit, so if they want to fly, they can go around me.

I understand that you are safe drivers, got it! Respect it! But the left lane is for passing and if you are not using it to pass, you should not be there.

What do you mean to pass? Fast lane does not equal 15-20 miles above limit.

I chose the speed limit. Although if the flow of traffic is faster, I will go a bit faster, never above 10 over the limit though.

No worries, I hang out in the slow lane (or as DJ Tanner calls it, "the geek and loser lane"):lmao:

That isn't up to you!!!!

The left lane is for passing! You aren't passing so get out of the lane. Why must you be so controlling and rude?

"Slower traffic stay right" read the signs next time.

And in a lot of states it is illegal to pass on the right so they can't pass you!

Really?:sad2: BTW, explore the topic, what is passing, when this lane to be used, states requirements and so on.

It doesn't matter how fast you are driving if someone comes up behind you and needs/wants to pass the law is move out of the way.!!! Left lane is for passing only PERIOD. You have no idea why that person is driving fast they may be trying to get to a job interview or to a sick child at school.

While I don't agree with sitting in the left hand lane if someone behind you wants to pass I do know the laws are different in different states. In the more densely populated states the rules are much different than the states that have more space on the roads. In the North East we're packed together and tend to fill up all of the lanes. In Maryland the left lane is supposed to hold faster traffic but it's not just for passing, we're also allowed to pass on the right. The roads here are just too crowded to waste an entire lane on just passing.

Wrong, not on all highways left lane is for passing only, not at all states you have to move.

After my 3rd speeding ticket, I've stuck to 6-10 over. But, if I'm in places I know there aren't any cops and the road is fairly clear, I'll go as fast as I feel safe. It is these times that I test how fast my car can go... :cool1:

But most of the time, especially on the non-highway roads, I'm super safe and stick to the speed limit or go only up to 5 over. It's when I have a free stretch of highway or I'm in an agricultural zone that I know well where I'll keep my speed at 80+.
