Dress code for parks

I thought Guest relations were on the outside of the parks? I went to one on the outside of EPCOT just 3 weeks ago.

At MGM, there is one right inside the gates. I do not know if there is one outside the gates or not.

I don't see what size had to do with it, unless the shirt was way too small for her and inappropriate skin was showing.

Are you serious? Size has EVERYTHING to do with it. A 300+ pound woman should NOT be wearing revealing clothing - especially tube tops. It would not only scare the kids, but certainly adults too.

Really, when it comes down to it, no one should be wearing revealing clothing, regardless of their size. Little, big, small, large, whatever. No revealing clothing. I'm not saying that the OP's wife was wearing revealing clothing. I'm just saying that the rules apply to all.

As far as the rules go, it should be fine as long as no inappropriate body parts/skin are showing.

No, it wouldn't scare me. As long as nothing inappropriate is showing, I like to see people who are comfortable with their bodies...large or small.

I think that WDW should set a dress code. Absolutely no revealing clothing would be allowed inside the parks, or in the public areas (lobbies, hallways, arcades, etc.) of the resorts besides the pools. And, this vision particularly scares me...

A 300+ pound woman should NOT be wearing revealing clothing - especially tube tops.

Wow, that would be quite disturbing. Anyways, I'm getting ahead of myself.

I'm very sorry that you no longer feel welcome at WDW.

Ok, what do you think a 300 pound woman should wear? And how much more covered should she be than a 100 pound woman?

And just so you don't think I'm being defensive...no, I do not weigh 300 pounds and I would not feel comfortable in a tube top.

1) I admit that without a photo, we can't make a valued judgment.
2) However, managers FREQUENTLY overrule CM's.
3) If this were trivial, I am sure the manager would have intervened.
4) All we can do at the moment is guess that the action was warranted.
5) I do agree that the actual remarks could have been better phrased.

:lmao: :thumbsup2

OP- I'm sorry that your dw's feelings were hurt but i'm in agreement with many others, it had to have been showing a bit too much. I've worn a tube top there before without any problem.

The guy in your signature probably wouldn't be allowed into MGM, though.

A couple years ago our high schoolband was marching in the parade at MK and the student teacher was wearing a strapless sun dress and she was asked to leave the backstage area and not allowed to be in the parade with the band due to the fact she was not in proper attire.

I'm sorry but the dress code that was posted earlier leaves much open to interpretation. What one person may feel reveals to much skin, may not be a problem for another.

I get the wanting to maintain a family friendly park but imho a tube top (in most cases) would not be inappropriate. If they allow people to puchase beer from sidewalk vendors in most of the parks, I don't see the problem with a tube top.

And just how big will this sign need to be to cover all the things that people want a sign for? And believe me, even when there is a sign very few people READ it. FTR, on the park map, there is a section called Special Considerations. Anyone want to take a stab at what is printed there? (I am sure someone will know - and I am sure there will always be another someone that will say "But it doesn't specifically say X.")

As for the CM's comment, I am going to err on the side of the CM on this. I am not saying CM's are never rude. But I know personally, that sometimes what you are saying is not what the guest is hearing. Especially when it is not what they want to hear. I know that if someone spoke that rudely to me, I would immediately ask for their supervisor, not wait and go to another park completely.

It seems like the only people Guest Relations hears from are those angry and trying to justify why they should be able to break the rules/the rules don't apply to them. Maybe if they heard from guests that they are tired of the Heelys, the smoking outside designated areas, the inappropriate clothing etc...Disney might dedicate some resources towards enforcing the rules they have in place.

:thumbsup2

BTW - the relevant special considerations sections says:

Courtesy
We work very hard to offer a comfortable, safe and enjoyable experience for all our Guests. Please assist us by showing common courtesy to fellow Park Guests. Please be respectful of others. Do not use profanity or engage in unsafe, illegal or offensive behavior. Proper attire, including shoes and shirts, must be worn at all times.

And yes, I can see how much wiggle room some would find in that wording.

Yet had it had spaghetti straps, it would probably have been considered acceptable. That's so strange to me. I'm a very modest person - even during the summer I'm walking around in jeans like an idiot because I prefer being covered up - HOWEVER, I can't imagine a tube top not being allowed at a theme park! And I can't believe people are saying they shouldn't be allowed. People are trying to stay cool and comfortable in the parks, and the best way to do so is by wearing tank tops, tube tops, and other sleeveless attire. Even though I normally don't wear things like that, you better believe I'll be in shorts and tank tops every day (I don't own any tube tops).

For those of you who think women wearing sleeveless tops are "harmful" to a family environment... we've been to topless beaches before with our young children, and they didn't think ANYTHING of it. They played and we had a nice family time together despite the presence of bare breasts and revealing bikinis. So I hardly think a woman in a tube top is going to scar my children for life.

It seems the puritanical tide is coming in once again in our society, and people are getting more and more uptight about things like this -and it's really a shame.

I agree with this assessment. Although there are different varieties of tube top. Since we have not seen the tube top in question we can't make a call of any kind.

LB- they'd probably make the signature guy put a shirt on, too. Tank top for him, I'd think.

Well I weigh about 120 (give or take ;) ) and would not be caught dead in a tube top.

Sorry, can't answer your first question.
