Dream Cat 9A cabins

I have room 8502 for June. Is this room big enough for 3 people. Looking at the picturs posted it looks like the couch is at the end of the bed....is there enough room to open the fold out?

Thanks

I've been travelling. Have we seen pictures of 8502? I know we saw 8504 and 8500, just didn't know if we saw the room in the middle (or I've forgotten.)

Can anyone comment on 8000 and 8002? We have these connecting rooms for our cruise next summer.... may consider changing. I wasn't crazy about the room assignment from the beginning... now I'm getting really scared.
Any thoughts??
Thanks!

The couches are only big enough for one person and they don't really fold out like a sofabed does, they kind of flip over for sleeping space and the cabin steward makes them up for you each night. During the day they're flipped back over to serve as a couch. So I don't think anyone has to worry about them being able to make up the couch as a bed because of the size of the space the couch is in.

Those pictures you are seeing of 8504, was my stateroom from the maiden voyage because JoJo (my daughter's monkey) is on the bed. At first when walking in the room, I was kinda startled to see the slanted walls, but the more we were in the room we felt like we were in a "secret loft" and loved it!

In answer to your question:

when you walk in the room you walk down a small hall and pass the two closets on the right. The room then opens into the whole thing. Desk in front on right, right past the desk is the bunkbed which is up on the ceiling. Just a little left in the room is the master bed and then way left is the couch and the porthole.

The bathroom is off to the left.

I can tell you, the room is huge. Much larger than a verandah IMHO and we loved it.

In looking at the pictures, if you look at the one with the master bed and on the wall is the picture of the ship, the bunkbed comes down there. Above the bunk when you open it is a night sky full of stars! My daughter still insists on sleeping in the bunk and she is 18!

I am in 8502 for the MV of the Fantasy and I got a chance to see that room also, it is bigger IMHO than a normal oceanview or verandah.

And....if you have two kids, you can split them up, one on the bunk and the other on the couch and they are on opposite sides of the room.

Only downside, you cannot sit on the couch and see TV. TV is best viewed from bed. It would be nice if they would add a couple of chairs (or you could always pack your own camp chairs HA)

I just saw a pic of 8502 looking into the room. I didn't see a bunk pull down and didn't realize when I booked the room that it even had one. Where is is located?

There is a picture looking into room 8502 on the following thread. From this pic there definitely doesn't look like there is a privacy curtain.

Do you have the room booked for 3 or 4 people? (I'm wondering if it sleeps 3 or 4). Normally the bunk bed is above the couch. However, from the very brief glimpse in the picture, it's not evident whether there is a bunk there or not. And from the pictures of 8504, it's no longer a given that the bunk is above the couch!

There are pictures of a front facing room on Deck 6 that are posted (perhaps even in this thread) that may show a bit more information.

I'm glad to hear this, I've got this room on the April 21st Eastern on the Fantasy next year. I'm excited!

we had originally booked for 4 in a room and chose 8500 - so there's got to be a bunk somewhere (We later added another person and got the connecting room next to it).

24 days til I know for sure.

I only have 3 people but I am just curious if there is a bunk in there as well and where it could be located.:confused3

We are booked for 7000, and I am looking for some info on the Cat 9A forward rooms that are not corner rooms or accessible. Almost every thread only talks about the corner rooms, and there is only one stateroom report for a 9A room.

I am wondering about the porthole. Can you actually see anything out of it? What about the slanted ceilings/walls? Do you hit your head on them? Also, is there a privacy curtain?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I know... I'm in the same boat (no pun intended) but we are in room 7002. I was hoping to see pictures of the room too, but now I guess we'll just be suprised as to what the room looks like when we get in there in 5 days!!!! :)

There is a wonderful trip report out there with lots of photos of different categories of rooms. Post #74 has some great photos of Cat 9A room 7008 which I would LOVE to stay in. I'd guess your room 7000 would have similar views.

Sorry jham, not true. 7000 (Port side) is very different to 7008 (Forward).

I wish we were on one of the side cat 9A rooms but we are booked into 6502 and from the photos I have seen you have quite a small porthole which is on a sloped wall so I suppose you can mainly see the sky out from them!

Well that's what I get for being too lazy to look at the deck plan. :lmao:

We don't sail until June, so any info you have after your cruise will be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful vacation.:)

I recently had stateroom 7004 (a Cat 9A Forward room) on Dream. For those concerned about the view from the portholes in these Cat 9A rooms, I thought that the forward view was very nice and offerred a MUCH greater view of the surrounding sea (or land) than you are anticipating. It is definitely not just a view of the sky!

Further, I had no problem with the sloped bulkhead. It affects a very small portion of the room and it only becomes an issue while getting into or out of the forward side of the bed. Since I'm not particularly tall, it was not really an issue for me at all.

I was extremely pleased with the generous amount of floor space that these rooms have (by shipboard standards) due to their extra width. Overall, I was very happy with this location and I would definitely stay in that stateroom again.

Great to know, thanks for posting, we are in 8502 in June, same type of room and I was wondering how the room would be. Sounds like it will work just fine. There will be 3 of us in the room, will there be plenty of room for us?
