I've seen a lot of chatter about the corner rooms in the 9a's, but has anyone seen the forward facing rooms that overlook the teen hangout below? Rooms 8000, 8500, 7000, 7500....

It wasn't until I saw the corner 9a's that I realized my porthole in 8000 wasn't going to be big enough to sit in, and it wasn't until I saw two nondescript pictures of 8004 that my wall would be slanted too. Has anyone been able to figure out of the room layouts are the same as a regular ocean view cabin or are there special considerations - given the structure of the forward of the ship?

those are the photo's I'm referencing.
the one of 8500 that shows a little of the room has me wishing there was one that showed more of the room. You can see the bed in the bottom of the photo, which has me thinking the room might be a bit smaller than your typical Oceanview Statesroom.

A regular Oceanview on the Dream is 204sf versus 214 on the Dream and Magic. I think the the cabins on the front of the Dream/Fantasy look a bit larger.

The 9A rooms were never promised the extra large portholes with window seating that the Cat 8 rooms have. There are 6 9A rooms that got lucky in that regard, as they are on the sides of the ship next to Cat 8 rooms, and have those same large porthole windows. The rest of the Cat 9 rooms were described as having a "large" porthole window, which we quickly realized made them more medium sized since they weren't as large as the extra large Cat 8 windows, but weren't as small as the deck 1 windows either.

All the rooms on the front of the ship have slanted windows, since the front of the ship slants. Many were lucky enough to see and realize that as we watched the Dream's construction progress.

As we're seeing the pictures of those room, there are clearly design changes made to accommodate the slanted wall of the ship. But as the PP mentions, those rooms look longer, thus I don't think there is any room lost. On the pictures of 8500, which is an accessible 9A room, you can clearly see how the room is wider than normal, since they were able to place the couch sideways next to the porthole window, which also makes the slanted space more usable (and reduces the risk of bumping your head.)

We've also see a picture of another 9A room where the couch and bunk were placed toward the front of the room, similar to how the inside rooms are configured, but they were able to place the bed sideways, again showing how the room is wider and perhaps longer than a regular stateroom.

Those pictures you are seeing of 8504, was my stateroom from the maiden voyage because JoJo (my daughter's monkey) is on the bed. At first when walking in the room, I was kinda startled to see the slanted walls, but the more we were in the room we felt like we were in a "secret loft" and loved it!

In answer to your question:

when you walk in the room you walk down a small hall and pass the two closets on the right. The room then opens into the whole thing. Desk in front on right, right past the desk is the bunkbed which is up on the ceiling. Just a little left in the room is the master bed and then way left is the couch and the porthole.

The bathroom is off to the left.

I can tell you, the room is huge. Much larger than a verandah IMHO and we loved it.

In looking at the pictures, if you look at the one with the master bed and on the wall is the picture of the ship, the bunkbed comes down there. Above the bunk when you open it is a night sky full of stars! My daughter still insists on sleeping in the bunk and she is 18!

I am in 8502 for the MV of the Fantasy and I got a chance to see that room also, it is bigger IMHO than a normal oceanview or verandah.

And....if you have two kids, you can split them up, one on the bunk and the other on the couch and they are on opposite sides of the room.

Only downside, you cannot sit on the couch and see TV. TV is best viewed from bed. It would be nice if they would add a couple of chairs (or you could always pack your own camp chairs HA)

I'll be anxious to hear your review! We have this room for the June 23rd cruise.

Okay, help me out here guys cause' I am starting to panic. I booked a cat.9a "gty" back in December cause it was all that was available (besides the balconies which I couldn't afford). But, now that I am seeing these funky frontal cabins the more DH and I don't want to be in one. It just doesn't say Disney cruise to me.

HallsofVa mentioned that "There are 6 9A rooms that got lucky in that regard, as they are on the sides of the ship next to Cat 8 rooms, and have those same large porthole windows."

So, could someone please tell me which specific cabin numbers I need to be crossing my fingers for so I can prayfully get a normal oceanview cabin? Because I doubt seriously sailing in April the upgrade fairy will be visiting me.

Thanks...

They are the only 9A rooms that face to the side, instead of forward or backwards. They are 8008, 7008, 6008, and the equivalent rooms on the other side, 8502, 7502, 6502. There are pictures of 8008 posted I think in this thread or other similar ones, and they have the extra large portholes of the Cat 8 rooms (with built in seating in the porthole), and the oval showers and bedding configuration of the 9As.

Thanks for all the information. We have 8504 later this summer. We can hardly wait.

Okay thank you. :) Humm...not sure what I am gonna do though. I really am not a fan of the pictures I am seeing with those slanted widows and weird seating areas.

I have room 8502 for June. Is this room big enough for 3 people. Looking at the picturs posted it looks like the couch is at the end of the bed....is there enough room to open the fold out?

Thanks

That's kind of what I'm wondering too.
Having a hard time visualizing the rest of the room.

But I've been booked and 'dreaming' for 8 months.
3 more weeks isn't going to kill me :wizard:

Where did you see pics of 8502? I only saw pics of 8504.

I did not see the pics for 8502 only 8504, I was excited for a bit till I went and looked at the deck plan and realized...wrong room. Hopefully we'll get some pictures soon. 4 months is a long time to wait !!!!!

I'm in a forward room 6000 and would love to see some photos too. I wonder if we'll be looking directly at Vibe (if I have the ship's configuration straight) being at the 6000 level. Not too crazy about that..but we won't be in the room much. Nothing's left for our cruise except verandahs if we want to change anyway.

There are window view pics on the above thread. Also, someone who stayed in one of the 6000 level front room reported hearing the music from Vibe in their cabin.:sad1:
