:fish:I will add you to FE Group 1. We have fewer people than FE Group 2 so that should help even things out. Thanks so much for the quick info! We are really excited to have you with us :jumping1:

I'm planning to do little gifts every night since we broke into two groups... But ALL THE BOYS ARE KILLING ME!!!!! Girls are easy!! What do boys like?????

You've already answered your question but I think pirates are always a good choice for little boys. What boy doesn't enjoy playing that roll? Then of course....there is always candy. I'm having a difficult time figuring out what to give the adults! I must admit though, the kids and I have also had so much fun creating our FE bags.

I can't believe how close we are getting to the cruise. I'm currently investing in lots and lots of sunburn treatment. Yes, we'll be wearing sunscreen but considering some of my babies have the skin tone of the Stay Puff marshmallow man (compliments of their father), I doubt that will be enough.

I'm sitting here watching a skinney 12 yr old boy lifting weights and doing sit ups. He wants to look good on the cruise. Will I ever stop laughing?

I have absolutely had a ball with it. I'm so glad to get to be a part of it!!!

:rotfl2: That's awesome! My DD12 has been trying on different outfits, setting some aside to pack, pairing accessories to outfits, trying out different hairstyles. So happy the kiddos are as excited as I am for this cruise!

Hi all. I have a couple of weird questions and this board seems to be the most friendly board to ask:)

1) We are a family of 3.. mom, dad and 2 year old boy, Jackson. We requested the first dinner seating since Jackson can barely keep his eyes open past 8:30:) Is the most likely scenario that we get our seating request and are partnered with a family of 5 to complete a 8 top table? How does that usually work?
2) Is the pull down bunk in the family veranda suites safe for little kids, or should we plan on him sleeping on the couch?
3) Jackson is PUMPED about meeting Mickey (and possible even more pumped for Minnie).. but.. he also has thus far not been a huge fan of mascots (sporting events, CF Cows, etc), so I am a bit worried that he might be in for a little shock:) Any suggestions for preparing him for it?

Thanks for the help everyone! Excited to go on our first cruise (if not a little overwhelmed;))

Hey- I'm not really on the boards anymore and haven't kept up with this meet thread, but I thought I would lurk around today- but I saw your post and had to respond! (so forgive my randomness).

My family will be on this sailing and besides me, DH and DD7 we also have a 2-year old Jackson :) (that's what caught my eye!)

My Jackson first cruised last year on the Fantasy when he was just shy of 2- so perhaps I can answer some of your questions.

1.) I am sure others have answered this one so I will leave it be - mostly because we are night owls and always do 2nd seating so I won't be much help

2.) We put Jax on the couch, partly because his sister gets the bunk, but also because I don't want him to wake up to go to the bathroom or something and attempt to climb down. The ladder can slip off if jiggled enough.

3.)We were worried last year that Jackson might be overwhelmed but the characters despite his enthusiasm and his past trips to WDW- boy were we wrong- we could barely hold him back in the terminal when Mickey first appeared! What we did with him before hand was watch youtube videos of various things on the ship- I'd like to say this was a plan, but really its due to our ridiculous DCL addiction- including the Sail Away Party, some trip reports videos etc... perhaps it made it all familiar-

Jax still isn't a huge fans of mascots and the like.. but when it comes to disney- and Mickey and Jake etc... all bets are off!

Feel free to pm me if you have any more toddler specific questions! See you all soon!!..We will be the ones chasing after our 2 year old saying "Jackson" and confusing you guys :)

Yay! Thanks so much dizmom6 for all your hardwork in putting the list together! It is almost August then it'll be one month till cruise day before we know it!:cloud9:

Anyone get their cruise dox in the mail yet? It should start happening soon. My local USPS is wretched so I bet some of you will be first. :)

Wretched? What an awesome word! It's so descriptive and visual. I don't have anything yet but I know they are coming! That's not actually true. I don't "know" they are coming. I believe that they will be here because I like to dream.

When do they usually send them out? :dog2:

I feel like the number I usually hear is '45 days', and ... checking my DCL app ... that is today. :) (Not that anyone should panic if it's not this week, or even next week, I think it's a little bit variable.)

I also don't know what is included in the doc package. Luggage tags at least, I think, and probably itinerary stuff? AFAIK, it's not even the end of the world if it doesn't show you up, you can print everything out online to take to the port, and you can get luggage tags there. But it's still something to look forward to.

45 days!!! No way!!! :cool1:

Been busy putting finishing touches on the kids' pirate costumes, and our costumes for MNSSHP. Been stalking our mailbox for the last couple of weeks waiting for our homeschool approval letter... have a bad feeling the superintendent wants to be a PITA this year. :headache: No doubt I'll be excited to receive Mickey Mail, but I think I'll be more relieved to have that approval letter. :sad2:

I'm going to need an explanation....none of my biz but I'm asking anyway. What is a homeschool approval letter? I only ask because, as you know, I also homeschool. I know different states have different rules and TX is great for HS parents. I'm just curious.:rolleyes1

Crazy, huh?! In MA we have to submit an education plan for each child to the office of the superintendent, annually. They review/approve it and we get an approval letter in return. Without the approval letter kids are truant and the family is reported to the dept of child services. At the end of each school year, we also have to report to the superintendent our progress for that year. (Many of the surrounding states are more demanding, requiring in person meetings, exams taken on school property, quarterly progress reports, etc). Basically, we need permission from the school district to homeschool - :confused3.

The education plan is our outline for the school year, they ask for # of hours of education, who is educating the child and their qualifications, grade level of the child, subjects to be taught. They can only ask the basics and really aren't supposed to deny us unless there is a very strong reason. But I've heard too many stories of families being asked to jump thru hoops. More and more of the districts in the area have been asking for more and more. We've been in this district for 3 school years now. I pretty much have a one page form letter I update and submit year after year that answers only the questions they are allowed to ask. (Our district asks more than they should). I always stress until our letter arrives- I don't like confrontation and wouldn't do well if they started to really push for more info, especially info they have no right to ask.

Anyways... I'm sure the letter is on its way. In the past it's usually here within 2-3 weeks of me submitting my plan, but we're going on 5 weeks! I'll just keep checking the mailbox. :hourglass
