Dream 9/14/15 4 night

Hey this is Karen6th with reply to FE
Room number 9152
two kids; Brayden 6, Kelsey 9

Hey lady! Didn't you say in an earlier post that Brayden turns 7 on the cruise? I want to make sure before I send out that list because I have that down. Whoever has you in their FE group might like to do a little something special :rolleyes1

:fish::fish::fish:

Bama0914 and Zammusselman - I have sent you a message with my personal email address! *insert sarcasm here* Please feel free to pass it along to all of your friends.

I'm totally psyched. We are getting soooo close:flower:

I can't get messages yet. I think I have to post 10 times to receive it. Maybe I will get this figured out! Thank you!

I've never cruised before so I'm not sure about terminal parking rates but from what I understand you can pay a hotel in the area to park there for $6 per day which is substantially less than the terminal and most offer complimentary transportation to and from port. Just a thought.

Now...welcome LadyShip!!! I'll add you to the FE list today. The official list will be finished the last day of July and I'll make sure that you're on it. For those of you who want a copy of what I have so far, send me a message with your email and I'll send you what I have.

Also, I love, Love, LOVE the idea of finding out favorite characters! If you are part of the FE, and have that information, please post or send it to me and I'll add it to your list.

Thanks,
T

I almost forgot to tell you our favorite characters -

Greg - Goofy and Star Wars
Brenda - Minnie and Belle

I was speaking with Bama0914 and it dawned on me that there may be some confusion around FE....all my fault...sorry.

Gift giving - you may choose to give a single gift or gifts each day. It's up to you. It's important to me that you do whatever works for you. The price of the gifts are 1 cent - whatever. I have a thing for rose gold but if it's not in your budget to give to a complete stranger (it's not in mine either btw) I understand. I just thought I'd throw that out there because a girl can dream! :thumbsup2

We are getting close so let me know if you have any questions. If you have one, chances are others do also.

:confused3Question: For those of you who have been on the cruise before...when you go to the movies / shows, I know that you can buy food but should I choose not to do that, what are our other options?:confused3

Thanks,
Teresa

We always hit up the $1 store or Walmart before we leave and pick up the boxed movie candy and pack them into our suitcase to have for the ship for the movies and shows or just to have candy.

For Drinks - if you bring a travel mug you can hit up the drink station on the top deck and fill it up before you go to the shows.. We also always pack some bottles of water with us to put in the mini fridge in the rooms and bring those.. Disney charges you for bottle water..

We have on occasion bought the popcorn or cotton candy for the shows/movies - however, it is the prepackaged stuff not fresh.. I believe one cruise they did offer fresh popcorn for one of the shows, but I am not sure if that was a normal thing...

Hi all. I have a couple of weird questions and this board seems to be the most friendly board to ask:)

1) We are a family of 3.. mom, dad and 2 year old boy, Jackson. We requested the first dinner seating since Jackson can barely keep his eyes open past 8:30:) Is the most likely scenario that we get our seating request and are partnered with a family of 5 to complete a 8 top table? How does that usually work?
2) Is the pull down bunk in the family veranda suites safe for little kids, or should we plan on him sleeping on the couch?
3) Jackson is PUMPED about meeting Mickey (and possible even more pumped for Minnie).. but.. he also has thus far not been a huge fan of mascots (sporting events, CF Cows, etc), so I am a bit worried that he might be in for a little shock:) Any suggestions for preparing him for it?

Thanks for the help everyone! Excited to go on our first cruise (if not a little overwhelmed;))

I do not personally know the answer to any of these questions, but they are great questions, so I look forward to the answers... I have a 3 year old that doesn't like characters either, but will love the Disney Jr gang and the princesses. I worry about this being a Halloween Cruise, and that adding more fear. But it's booked now. So I guess we just go with the flow, the best we can. We took the 2nd seating so we could be sure to see the shows, even if means we don't make it to dinner. Not sure which way is better! But, good luck!!!

This is our first cruise too! :yay:

But I'll give my two cents based on things I've read and from experience...

1) from what I've read it's possible being a family of 3 you may be sat with another family, but maybe you won't. It sounds like there are different sized tables, not all 8 person. So maybe you'll be sat with another young family of three.

2) it looks like the pull down bed from the ceiling has a rail attached and there's a detachable ladder. You'll have to be the judge on if this is safe for Jackson... Does he toss and turn a lot, is there a chance he will try to get out of bed at night, etc. For us, our 9 year old will be taking that bed and the three year old will be taking the bottom, couch bed. I wouldn't be comfortable with the 3 year old up that high in an unfamiliar setting, but that's not to say it isn't safe. I've read that the stateroom attendants are great and will put the beds back to "non-bed" status in the morning and then set everything back up for bedtime. So if he slept on the couch bed at night, you could still have the couch for the day. I've also read that they have bed rails for the couch bed to help secure little ones. And if you want a couch to remain as a bed all day (for naps) they will do that too. Just need to ask.

3). Ok, this one we have a little bit of experience with because of taking the 4 kids to WDW and DL throughout the years. For us, age 2-3 were the freak out years. Age 1, no problem. Age 4 and up no problem. But all of them, at some point between 2 and 3 years old freaked out about the costumed characters, not the princesses though. My advice: go slow and don't push him. Also, start preparing him now that the characters, even though they look small on the tv show, are as big as mommy and daddy. Looking back, I think that's the biggest scare factor about it is their size! And they don't talk. Kind of creepy when you think about it. Even if my guys didn't want to go up to them, they still enjoyed seeing them from afar. And with a little time and patience, they eventually saw that it was ok and then it's fun to see them interact with the characters and give them big hugs. Very cute.

Enjoy your cruise! 2 months from tomorrow!!! :jumping1:

Thanks! ohhh... very good point about stressing the "mommy and daddy size"! He loves the chickfila cow from a distance and will even call them over... but as soon as they come, poor guy covers his eyes and "disappears". We'll work on it:)

Thanks for the insight!

Great questions! We took my DD at 18 months the first time and I was worried as well about character fear. I would suggest starting with his absolute favorite as a warm up. So if its Minnie go to her first. We let DD stand to the side of the line for a few minutes first and watch other kids going up to greet. That seemed to help a bit as she saw everything was safe and sound. Then when you do get in line don't push him. The characters are really great about squating down to their level and not moving to them but waiting for the little ones to come to them. It might take him a minute or two but I find that if its the toddlers idea rather than mom and dads it goes much smoother ;)

I know Disney does try to pair up like families if possible but if you are uncomfortable with seating with others you can always call and request a seperate table.

Thanks for the all the help, everyone!

I just read through our entire board thread and I think I may be the only husband posting? haha. Did I miss a guy? I mentioned it to my wife and she said "I plan real life, so you can plan vacation!' haha. BURN!:)
