I don't know where to post this, because DTD isn't a theme park, but it isn't a resort or a restaurant either. :confused3 So feel free to tell me a better spot to ask!

Basically, is it even worth a trip to DTD? Our plan had been to go there our first evening and have dinner at Raglan Road. But it sounds like it's just a total cluster between the construction and transportation. Anyone been recently? Would we be better off hanging around and exploring the resort? It's 6 of us, if that matters. My parents, DH and I and our two small kids, and we'd be coming from the Wilderness Lodge.

DTD isn't that bad. I would recommend avoiding it on the weekends, or at least in the afternoon on the weekend if you can, but other than that I wouldn't skip it. The traffic can become a nightmare just due to the red lights and on the weekend you have a ton of people crossing the road.

We were there a couple weeks ago and will be back in 3 weeks

I enjoy DTD. I collect pins and it has my favorite pin store plus there is Basin, a great Art of Disney store and the huge World of Disney store.

Plus I like to have fun building legos at the Lego Store. For me, I usually go on a weeknight evening or morning.

If you don't like to shop, I would say you could skip it.

We enjoy an evening in DTD. We love RR, and I think you will too!

I had read a lot of horror stories about DTD, so I was worried during our December trip. But it wasn't bad. We parked in a very empty lot behind Cirque du Soleil, and walked a lot. It really is just a ton of stores and restaurants. I love shopping, so we enjoyed it. DD got to fill a potato head box with parts (we shoved 40 pieces into that box!), we ate a t - rex ( it will now be a must do every trip), had a snack at Ghirardelli, rode the little mini train, and window shopped. There is a lot of really neat stuff to look at.

We are going to WDW at the end of March and are staying at POR-Riverside and from all the reports regarding DTD and the lack of parking we feel very fortunate to be able to get no a boat and take a nice peaceful trip over to DTD.

As long as you avoid driving you should be ok. The buses can take a while too, because of the traffic, but like others said if you avoid weekends that's not as bad. I went on a Sunday in July and it was awful. In November we went on a Wednesday night (for dinner at Raglan Road--highly recommended) and it wasn't bad at all.

Piggybacking on this... we have a 3:30 reservation at TRex on the Saturday we arrive because we're not going to the parks that day. How would we get there from CBR? We plan on heading out there around 1ish, if not earlier, just so we have time to walk around before.

Take the bus from your resort. We don't really use the busses but with all the construction at DTD it's much easier to take the bus.

Thanks, all! We have Raglan Road here in KC and it's always been reliable. And reliable is good on your first night in town, after a pre-dawn wake up call, right? A little bit of legos and maybe a new Disney t-shirt for MK the next day sounds like just the thing to do. I appreciate all of your advice!

So a bus goes directly from the resorts to DTD? I thought I read something that implied that wasn't possible, but I could have easily misunderstood.

Yes the busses go from your resort to DTD but you can't take a bus from the parks to DTD.

We were there in November and took the bus to DTD. We did experience some waits in traffic, but nothing terrible. Otherwise, the construction had minimal impact. I think it's still worth visiting.
