I had booked and paid in full for a preferred room for 2 nights at All Star Sports $318.68 after Christmas. I had the written confirmation that Disney sent me saying Preferred room, paid in full $318.68, $0.00 balance due.

So we check in and I'm told I still owe $159.34. I refuse to pay, Disney refuses to give me a key. Then we spent over an hour at the desk while the castmember went back and forth with a manager and someone at research and billing, someone else at reservations and me on the phone to my credit card company.

All Stars is insisting that a refund was processed to my visa for $159.34 because they never take payment in full before the guest arrives. The credit card company says that a refund has not been processed. All Stars says it takes up to 4 billing cycles for a refund to show. The credit card company says no way, if it takes that long there is a problem with Disney's system. It should take a maximum of 10 days. No more, certainly not 4 billing cycles.

Disney finally decide they need more time ro investigate and check us in, and give us a key.

A key to a room on the back side of Hoops Building 3 - 3231. I looked at the castmember and the resort map and commented, "Excuse me, we had booked a preferred room, can you please check if you would be able to assign us a room in building 1 or 6, thank you." And I handed back the key. The cast member rolled his eyes, mumbled something and walked away. The manager came out again, they talked amongst themselves for about 10 minutes. Hubby went out to the car to get some shopping, and he went and got us drinks from the food court in the time we waited. Apparently paying for a preferred room doesn't actually guarantee you a preferred room, it's only a request. However if they assign you a standard room they don;t refund the difference! The cast member came back and handed me a new key, but no room number. I think we were supposed to play guess this room number. When we didn't leave the desk the manager asked what's the problem now, we're bending over backwards to help you. She then told us our room number 1264.

We had arrived at the resort at 3pm, and finally got to the room at 5pm. We called to get our luggage delivered, and they couldn't find it. Later we found out it had been delivered to a room at All Star Music. We finally got our luggage after 9pm.

On a happier note we had a wonderful stay for 5 days at Port Orleans Riverside. The castmembers at all 4 parks, World of Disney, Days of Christmas, on our Yuletide Magic Tours and Trails End were awesome.

Check in at All Star Sports did not ruin our stay,, it was just disappointing.

Oh by thecway, Disney charged us the $159.34 on check out. My credit card company is disputing it, and has a no pay on it right now until Disney can prove that they issued a refund.

Yikes!!!!:scared1: I can't believe they gave you such a hard time especially since you had a written confirmation of a paid in full room!!! I guess they were a little short on "disney magic" that day.

Disney never takes a payment in full before the guest arrives????
That's news to me!! I have always booked a package on the Disney website and full payment must be paid 45 days in advance!!!!!!!

How did you book????

And I always thought if you paid for a preferred room, it was a guarantee! Otherwise, what's the point???

WOW I would send and E-mail or snailmail to Guest relations as well.

Preferred is a room catagory not a request that you are paying for and they were trying to push you out the door because of the disputed bill.

This is all because Disneys IT department is so substandard in today day and age it's not even funny.

I do know that on room only it is suppose to just charge you for the first night. But if the web or CM took the full payment (and it should have not) then it surely should not have just issued a refund . I'm sure the CM only has that to look at in front of them on the screen but then to just put you anywhere when your room should have already been assigned then there is another problem.

I wonder if the entire thing was cancled in the system.

How did they get your luggage if you had a car did you drop it off to ASSp's

What dirty little sneaks:sad2: . Glad the rest of your trip was great though!! My friend stayed for 1 night at Sports, and hated it.

This is horrible. I sure hope you pursue this to the highest level. This is totally unacceptable.

lol-dirty little sneaks?

So sorry for all the trouble you had but I can't be more thrilled you didn't let it ruin your trip. There are so many people that should have the same state of mind!

How did they get your luggage if you had a car did you drop it off to ASSp's

When I am using luggage assistance, I typically drive up to the front door of the resort for them to unload the luggage, I park the car, and I check in. So it's possible for the resort to have the luggage even though the guest has a car. How it got from one All Star to another though would be my question. It sounds like Disney really dropped the ball on this one.

The only time a guest should be paid in full upon arrival is

a) they bought a package
b) they booked one night, room only

Multiple nights on a room only reservation will only pay one night in advance and the balance upon check in. There have been other threads of guests trying to pay more, only to have the additional money refunded. The only time I have had more than one night's balance on file at Disney was if I paid the deposit for one night and then I was able to get a discount applied. They allowed that small overage to remain on account until check in.

The above poster is correct. If you booked a room only and paid it in full, for more than one night, then the second night IS refunded back. As was mentioned the only scenario where your ressie is paid in full is if it's a package or for one night only. I still think you should've been allowed to be checked in and receive a room, in the preferred section of course!---Kathy

We always pay in full before arrival. Just so we know its paid.

What a mess! I never heard anything like that before. I would follow through on this one.

We also always pay our room-only reservations in full before arrival. We've never had a problem. OP, I'm sorry that your check-in experience went so horribly! Please follow up with Disney's response if you write to the higher-ups.

I don't understand this....In my 30 some-odd trips I have always booked room only and paid in full before my trip, and have never had a problem:confused3 Is this something new?

Same here. I have already paid in full my room only ressie. I have not gotten my 9 days refunded back??? I even paid it in 3 installments, and not one word about it being a no-no.

Yes I do understand that but how did it get to Music and then take that long to get back is the question thats weird.

I have also Paid both Full payment and just 1st night on room only and never had it automatically refunded. Like I stated just poor IT to the max with Disney bot internal and external sights.

I was just thinking the same thing.

What is nothing new is Disney's absolute refusal to admit they are wrong about anything. As well as the different stories you get from different cast members.

I love Disney World, but sadly, this type of thing doesn't surprise me in the least bit. They have probably the most incompetent billing department of any company I have ever dealth with. They're ALWAYS making mistakes.

OP - I really hope you make a few phone calls and send some emails finding out what happened and you at least get an apology.

All I book are room only reservations. I have never NOT paid it in full before arriving. I've made as many as 6 different payments and it's never been a problem.

OP ran into a castmember, and it seems a manager, who have no idea what they're talking about. I really hope OP doesn't let this go and both of those employees are given a refresher course so they don't put another guest through this nonsense.

I can't think of another company I deal with that would every argue with a customer about whether or not one is allowed to pay in full.....Most reputable companies are thrilled to take your money and give you a 0.00 balance.

FWIW, I plan to have my room only vacation paid off before I go. (Via travel agent) Woe be to anyone who decides to ruin the first day of my vacation by arguing that I wasn't allowed to give them my hard earned money in advance. :sad2:

Let it be noted - Disney was 100% wrong in this situation. Wrong in the interpretation of the policy and wrong on how they handled it.

I have also paid off room reservations in full and not had any money refunded.
Sounds like that manager needs some retraining.

Please write a letter to the higher ups....

hopefully you remember their names....

this is so unacceptable on so many levels:sad2:
Keep us posted on any feedback from Disney
thanks
Kerri
