Double Wide Stroller Should Be Banned

While we are banning Double Strollers and Brazillians, lets also ban cheerleaders from the food court at Dixie Landings.

18 pages! I hope somewhere in this thread there is a picture of the Grill-Cooler combo that I want to bring into the park for grilling and beer.

Is Dixie Landings a new Disney resort? I'd love to check it out.
;)

That's why we got the Britax B-Ready which allows the kids to ride in tandem. I've been hit by so many ECV's that I'd prefer to get hit by a double-stroller any day of the week.

It's Port Orleans Riverside....the name was changed several years ago to be more politically correct and not so derogatory.

LOL a subject for a while other inflammatory thread. Being from Alabama, I find it insulting that anything with the word "Dixie" in it is instantly considered to be offensive.

I'm not suggesting that they fly a Confederate battle flag over the resort, but good grief... "Dixie" is a dirty word? :sad2:

We've taken both our double long and our double wide stroller. I'd actually prefer to use the double long because it was a garage sale find and I don't care if it gets stolen. But I honestly cannot maneuver it well. As a result I take our expensive double wide because not only is it more comfortable for the kids, its more comfortable for the other guests since I have much more control with it.

I attend Nicholls State University in Thibodaux Louisiana and many of the building are named for Civil War Generals and the mascot is a Confederate Colonel. Nice huh?

At least there are no Confederate flags on campus (that I know about).

Understand - I don't think that it's proper to glamorize the Civil War, to celebrate oppression, or to spout racist, divisive nonsense.

On the other hand, I think that history is what it is, and recognizing the heritage of a people is not a bad thing. Consider that as late as the 70's and 80's, "Dixie" was a socially acceptible synonym for the South... and now, it has somehow become enough of a dirty word that Disney dropped it from the name of a popular resort. :confused3

Political correctness has run roughshod over common sense, IMO.

I think that doublewides, Wheelchairs, are all fine. The problem is when someone doesn't opperate them with reguard to others. I've been run over several times by strollers of all shapes and sizes. And I would like to think that the people taking my ankle out isn't doing it on purpose.

I keep having people run into me on the sidewalks at Disney because they are walking while looking down at their phones.

Maybe Disney should ban cell phones. :rolleyes1

Best idea I've seen in years!!!:goodvibes

Apparently I agree with many of your opinions. I second this post. My southern roots run deep and I hate that much of that heritage is dying out.

That said, does anyone know where to get a decent glass of sweet tea in the world? I have yet to find one. My family hates Nasty, I mean Nestea:) that is the only thing that makes me want to bring a hotplate to my hotel room, so I can brew some tea!

From what I understand, you're going to have to leave WDW property to get that delicious sweet tea you desire. Personally, I enjoy the tea at Cracker Barrell.

Yup. Everybody knows that Florida is actually Yankee country (snowbirds, y'know), and as such, they don't have proper sweet tea.

I'm scratching my head too trying to figure whet is so offensive about the word "Dixie".

I have never heard of Mr. Dixy in my life.

Me either. And then it's always good to note that Wikipedia is user submitted information so it's not always correct. I couldn't really find much information. Just alot of sites of people discussing this same questions...finding that people want the word banned because it "could" offend someone but never actually haveing proof that it has.

I love political correctness. </sarcasm>

As an aside, I am now humming Dixe - which has turned into the Elvis medley that includes the Battle Hymn of the Republic. :rotfl:

We have 4 kiddos...age 9, 8, 2, 1. Warning to all who will be in WDW next Dec...we WILL be renting a double stroller for the little kids...a side by side one at that...GASP! We will be going in stores, but will use our judgement as to whether or not to take the stroller in. We will park the stroller in the designated areas. We will fold up our stroller before entering a bus/boat.

I promise not to run you over with my stroller...if you promise not to run me over while texting/talking on your phone :thumbsup2

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have both of these running through my head now as well and have since teh term Dixie was brought up.

Yes I am aware that its Yankee country, I just hoped that there might be somewhere that I didn't know about that had some. We don't hardly ever leave property at all in an entire 10 or 11 day stay and that is a long time to go without decent tea:rotfl:
