Hey there, we will be arriving on November 5 and hitting the parks first thing the next morning (heck, maybe even that night if we get in early enough!). So my plan was to get the stroller on the night of the 5th. If you want it from the 2nd to the 5th that's cool, but I'm not sure if that helps you or not.

Let me know. I know you can't PM yet so you can respond here or email me at doxxie at bellsouth dot net (don't want to get spammed by crawlers).

Thanks!

I'm having such a hard time concentrating here at work today. I have a million things to do, but I keep coming back to this board (and others here) to poke around. Anyone else a complete addict or is it just me?

So, have any of you ever made the trip a surprise for your kids? We are - and last night we were trying to come up with what, if anything, we'll tell the kids. I wonder if it's possible to keep it a secret until I pull them out of bed early in the morning the day we leave ... Any suggestions on how we should reveal?

I have always wanted to surprise the kids, but I can't contain myself to be able to surprise them!
I don't know how you are able to do it! Good for you--it is so exciting!!!!

I can't stay away form here either, and I am not even planning anymore at this point, I am just too excited already!!

I surprised my oldest this spring for a trip for her b-day. It was a trip for just her and me and I packed everything up in secret into 2 carry on bags. We needed to be at the airport really early so DH told her that he had to go away on a business trip and gave her the usual run down of 'be helpful to mom', etc so we packed everyone up in the car and I drove to the airport. When we got there I had her get out of the car and 'help' DH with the bags and then he told her "surprise! You're going to WDW!" DD just looked at him and said "Whatever". DH was soooooooo crushed. So I said my good byes (I guess she didn't see me say good bye)...we went into the airport. Headed over to grab some coffee (I'm a wreck w/o some in the morning) and sat down. She kept asking why we were in the airport and when was daddy coming to get his bags and if I was done my coffee yet since she didn't want to be late to school!
I finally asked her what part of "you're going to WDW was unclear?". Only then did she finally figure out that DH was not joking! :headache: :teacher:
Then she got all excited and happy and jumping around. I had her call DH to tell him thank you! But he was really disappointed about the whole thing. To make it worse I filmed her doing her little happy dance and thank yous on her new camera.....and it turns out it only does SILENT videos!

So while it was great to plan it out and surprise her, the reaction was definitely one that she will not live down! :rotfl:

Now, that is funny! And I'm sure that it is a great memory and a story that you will tell forever!

I know that ds isn't really old enough to remember this trip forever, but I do hope that we can make this a memorable trip for dd and I thought making it a surprise would make it all the more special. Plus, I don't want her distracted from school, etc. and bugging me about how many more days till we go!

Thanks for sharing your story!

I'm honestly surprised that my DS isn't asking us when our we going or anything like that. I guess he doesn't remember his last trip so he doesn't know how excited he should be! On one hand I don't want to keep talking to him about it because I don't want him to start asking when are we going and all of that but then on the other hand I want him to be excited.

There are invitations on the Creative DISigns board so that you can create an invitation and lay it out for them. Obviously if they can't read I guess it's not that great of an idea but you might could do a simple design with their favorite character and maybe lay it out on their suitcase to see and then they will ask you about it I'm sure.

I don't know. Good luck.

I can't keep things a secret from DS because he hates change, so I couldn't just take him to the airport for no reason. He needs to be broken in gently.

I didn't tell him about the character meals I had booked and the first time Goofy came near us in LTT, DS was under the table. :sad2:

So this time I've told him about what's going on and that we're having b-fast with Winnie the Pooh again and he says he'll let them hug him this time. :yay:

I'd love to surprise them and maybe when he's older he'll outgrow some of these quirks.

How old was he when Goofy got him? We took my son at about 20 months and while we had tried to break in on some local characters (Chuck E Cheese and such) he was still afraid of some. He got more used to them as the week went on and the smaller characters he was okay with (Minnie Mouse, Chicken Little, Donald). But Goofy freaked him out. He is just too big.

Now he's fine with those types of characters as he sees some of them all the time (like Thrash, the hockey mascot). So I think this time will be cool for him. Now let's just hope the smallest boy isn't freaked out!

I hope my youngest does ok with the characters. He seems ok with Chuck E Cheese and I've been slipping hints to him about meeting Mickey, would he give him a hug, etc. I don't know ... I'll just keep my fingers crossed I guess!

anyone out there still looking for a double stroller?

How old was he when Goofy got him?
He was 3.5 and now he's 4.

We went to a day out with Thomas a month ago and he didn't want to meet Sir Topham Hat, so DH went with him and got his photo taken. Which is an improvement over WDW. ;)

DD will be 2.5 and she had no problem going up to Sir Topham Hat, as long as a camera's pointed at her, she's happy. :rotfl:

we are going to the halloween party so the kids can try to meet as many characters as possible. I am not even thinking about rides, except BTMRR (their favorite) and possibly POTC (Johnny Depp-need I say more?).

When we first went DD was just 3 and didn't want to meet anyone. Kept going to sleep at restaurants and wouldn't go up to any character without me holding her and still not happy. Now, she is almost 6 and loves them!!! DS just thinks they are cool. But when he was little, maybe 2 1/2 we took him to meet spiderman at our local mall and he freaked out!

I am getting so nervous, only 5 days.
YIKES!

Wow! Only 5 days! That is getting close. How's your packing going?

Amaia82 - Hope you are having a great trip!

Hi everyone ... just wanted to make sure that everyone had seen the latest discounts released (or to be released). See mousesavers.com if you haven't. I'm crossing my fingers that this will save us even more money! Rumor on the codes/rates board is that this latest free dining offer includes a 20% off rack room rate ... if so, then I should save about $400 more off the rate we got when using the other discount code (which I *think* came out to be about 30% off the room). So, I hope that I have an email in the morning from my TA that says "you saved more money!" :goodvibes

They've also extended the FL residents rate to residents of surrounding states. I'm not sure that would help us at all as it is just a room only discount. But maybe someone else could use it!

I just hope that this doesn't mean that the place will be extra crowded!!
