"Double Dip Delight" 09.27.2008 - Take 3!

As far as I'm concerned, I don't mind remaining a GTY until we check in. Seems like that would be more chance for an upgrade. (given that that would mean there were not free cabins in our category???) Whatever though, we will be happy with our category... especially since we've never had a "better" category... we don't know what we might be missing. :rotfl:

I am hoping:idea: that since we are on the 3 day prior that we get to keep our same cabin. Is anyone in 6090???

Hey gang....

I found this great page on Cozumel Insider.

It has a guide to the beaches but the best part is there are several printable coupons for places like Chankanaab Park ($2 off adult admission) and Carlos & Charlies, etc.

Grand Cayman is definitely not cheap - I believe it will be about U.S. $12 per adult each way unless you can talk the driver into a better deal. Taxi fares are supposed to be fixed and are posted.

This is not to scare anyone, but the cabbies in Georgetown are not exactly known for their pleasant demeanor... it's sometimes advised that you politely introduce yourself and ask for their business card - that way they're not so inclined to get nasty or try to bump up the price after the ride has begun.

We are still in a GTY status:confused3 I am beginning to think we are going to be sleeping on Deck 4!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

On our last cruise in Oct. it seems most of us with GTY got assigned about 21 days out. My cabin changed again a few days before sailing (from a 9 to an 8). I definitely wouldn't worry about it - or trust that it wouldn't change again before sailing!

we'll be there with you since we still don't have a room number either. Maybe we could turn Deck 4 into a large slumber party. :rotfl2:

Rainforest Room - can I get some more information? there is a little bit on this in the passporter and it sounds like something I would enjoy but I want some more info about what comes with the passes and such.

There is a website that Cyndifan recommended for native way sports in Grand Cayman. If you do a group of ten or more then you save $5 per person. Check out their website and see if anyone is interested in booking a tour with us. We were looking at Stingray Sandbar, Coral Gardens and Starfish Snorkel. It is $40 for adults and $30 ages 3-12, which would make it $35 and $25.

I emailed them and this is what I received back.

Hi Monisa,

Pleasant Greetings from Grand Cayman...and thanks for contacting us!

Yes, the price does include roundtrip transportation to and from the ship.

The discount includes all paying people, including children.

There are no age or height limitations.

Let me know if you would like to reserve space. Include the name of the
cruise ship you are arriving on and your date of arrival.

Sharon Ebanks

Check it out and let me know if anyone is interested in doing a group. Have a great day.

What do you want to know about the Rainforest Room? It's a very nice relaxing room with a fountain, steamrooms, saunas, several special showers (with unique jets and water pressure(s), etc.) and two or three large heated mosaic tile lounging benches/chairs. It's very relaxing and nice.

That's alot of what I wanted to know, how hot do the steamrooms and saunas get do you know? (hubby is iffy on this idea at this point because poor guy is very hot natured to begin with...he keeps saying "Caribbean and saunas...not very smart"

The sauna is very nice, not too hot. The steamrooms, well.....one of them which is labeled "mild steam room" is HOOOOOOOOOT, and the little tiny one that is labeled something like "scented steam room" is not quite as bad. The steam ebbs in an out. That being said, you can escape either of them at any time. I take in a towel dipped in cold water and keep it on my face, which helps me stay relaxed......I lean toward claustrophobia at times!

The tile loungers are wonderful, they are in the main area. And the scented showers smell lovely :thumbsup2

Just stopping by to say hi :) .

I have a lot of reading to catch up on. Last I checked this thread, it was still in Take 2.

Has anyone heard from Kimberly??? Wasn't she returning yesterday?

D

I haven't heard from her, but she's probably stuck in catch up mode at work. She was working LATE last week and was expecting to not be caught up when she went to the airport. If I don't see her online by Wednesday night I'll give her a call. :)

We are paid in full and went from a Cat 11 then paid to upgrade to a Cat 9 GTY and got assigned a Cat 6 handicap as my mother has some mobility and balance issues.

2 Goofy-
We were looking at native way....would this be a charter with them or one of their scheduled trips? What would the time frame be....it would be myself, DW, and our 5 yo DD.....
