So, now that I have set my mind on going to MNSSHP, I decided to price out Disney Resort hotels so we won't have to rent a car to drive from Cocoa Beach to WDW.

I am seriously thinking about switching up all of our plans at the "last minute" :scared1:

The only thing that was stopping me was wanting to have the "water park" at our hotel like Ron Jon has, but now I think we will just have to go to one of the Disney Water Parks on Thursday :rolleyes1

So, to all of you veterans: Which is your favorite Value Resort and which is your favorite moderate resort? Also, Which water park is funner? Which water park has the most to do for a toddler?

Thanks.

We love Pop for value and LOVE Coronado Springs for moderate, their pool in my honest opinion is the best moderate!!!!!! My kids have not been to the water parks, it seems Matthew is too short for a lot of the stuff, they always have a GREAT time at the resort pool, especailly Stormalong Bay:love: ant the Beach club

Hi All !!

Wow! Seems like there is going to be alot of us at the MNSSHP on Friday :goodvibes Of course "my" group will NOT be dressed up.. :sad2: I'm the only one that ever WANTS to.. but, I never get a chance too.. :guilty:

As for Palo... I want to really, really try and get High Tea but I do not have any luck nor hope for getting a High Tea

Kimberly.. Thanks for the welcome back!! :yay:

Thanks for the tips Hadley.

The others didn't do that at all. Madalyn could care less who comes and goes. Sig never went anywhere with us. Sadie breezed through her stages. Alex is a whole 'nother story. Lots of issues with him. He'll be going to pre-school in the fall in a special early intervention program (only getting one hour of speech a week which is the entire reason I sent him for the eval, but they're saying he has all sorts of sensory issues- they really don't get the orphanage rebound thing at all, nor understand the delays being in that environment cause). They were horrified when they found out we homeschooled, horrified. Mad will also be going to half day preschool- mainly for my sanity. When dh is back, we'll all be back home again.

I'm wondering if they'll keep him in the club if he's crying for me. I'd assume not. Well that's what the grandparents are for. He seemed to do all right with them when he met them. But I have a strong suspicion I will not be hanging around with y'all at the adult pool drinking and playing cards. Seriously though- with his adoption as a late-age toddler, there are tons of issues surrounding attachment/bonding and separation that I have to take into account with all of this. We did a lot of reading before Madalyn, and she ended up being younger than we expected to adopt and bonded well. Alex, we're not sure about sometimes. He was very difficult at first, and we've heard stories about kids (usually older when adopted) who live well with their adoptive family but never quite view them as a family, just the "new staff" that takes care of them. We don't want that to happen.

Julie
Sending hugs your way....
On another note. I think I've broken my Big Toe! :scared1:

Tiffany
Oh no! I hope it's not broken...what a bummer!

Our favorite moderate resort is Coronado Springs too. We haven't used the pool, but compared to the Caribbean Beach Resort, it looks newer & cleaner. Similar set-up, but different decor & outdoor landscape. We always go back to Coronado now!

And, FWIW, I was a first grade teacher....I think the Kinder teachers had a MUCH harder job than I did! Oh, the kids were so little on that first day of school. At least by the time I got to them, they had been at school for a year and knew the ins & outs of a school day!

(I cut and paste. Was too lazy to go back and do the quote thing so I faked it"

Of the Values I would say Pop Century. Theme aside (which I like best)
It is the newer of them all. There is a toddler splash area and a groovy food court.

Of the Moderates I like Port Orleans. It has the addition of fishing and the boat to Downtown Disney.

If you are staying one nite and want to splurge stay at the Contemporary.
Nothing like walking to/from MNSSHP. When everyone is in line to get on a bus or to get to their car there is nothing like strolling to your hotel. The queue for the Pop Century bus terminal is almost in the the Parking lot of the Contemporary. There are lots fo tricks to get a better rate.

By staying on property you will also save the $11 parking fee.

If you are looking to go to a waterpark during the day consider trying to get a rate at Disney Beach Club. Their pool basically is a waterpark.
(Factor in the higher room price with the cost of waterpark)

Another option if you have points is to stay in the Orlando area at
Nickolodeon Suites
JW Marriot

Both of these have themed water areas as well.

Tiffany

OH NO!!! Not sure what the DR will tell you but I've always pretty much just had to grin and bear it until it got better. Although I've never had a problem with the Big Toe - it's usually the little piggy with me :rotfl:

Value - I'd go with POP. There are several pools there to keep kids busy. On a Mod - my favorite is Port Orleans Riverside.

But I think FatCat has a good idea (:woohoo: ) to look into the Beach club as their pool is awesome! Factor in a value or mod room rate - discounted or not - along with water park tickets and see if it's close to the rate at the Beach club. If it's anywhere close, I'd skip the water park and stay at the Beach club - more room and a great pool.

I agree with the Beach Club idea:banana: :cool1:  :cool1:

Hi,
Does anyone know where I could get a cheap (really cheap) pirates costume for DS? He wears either a 2t or 3t
Thanks.

Seems something is going our way, we will have a few days to decide if we want to rebook:cool1:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/discounts/discounts-cruise.htm

"This offer is available to Guests who book on disneycruise.com as well as Guests booking through a travel agent (travel agent is required to book on disneycruise.com for offer)."

Sooooooooo.....do you think this means that we can get the reduced deposit offer onboard?

Thank you all for your well wishes. I do have a good DR who is not willing to write it off as anxiety just yet. The ER did lots of blood work, chest x-ray and EKG and ruled out anemia, diabetes, etc. My DR has ruled out Thyriod issues with another blood test and I am going for an Echo tomorrow. He said that we are going to start with these 2 tests and go from there. He is definitely working with me to get to the bottom of it before he makes any diagnoses. I really am a PIA as a patient (and just about everything else). I don't take no for an answer easily and I think I am pretty good at arguing to get my point accross. I just hope it does not being anything that interferes with this cruise......I don't know what I would do! I just keep having thoughts of me being airlifted off the boat (GOD FORBID, PLEASE)~

I'll keep you all posted and again........thank you all for caring:grouphug:

On another note. I think I've broken my Big Toe! :scared1:

I hit it pretty hard about 2 weeks ago and thought it healed, but the last 24 hours has been pretty rough and I can't seem to bend it any more. I have a Dr. appt tomorrow. I just hope they don't have to tape my toes together because it will be hard to get my shoe on! I have been living in flip flops all summer. I guess I can change to my crocs if need be. UGGGG!

Well, I'm off to see if the Olympics are on and elevate my foot. Can someone please send over some dinner for the kids. I think it's going to be a pizza delivery evening. LOL

Tiffany

Ouch!!! I'm sorry. I hope that heals quickly (and takes no longer than 6 weeks for a recovery ...). But, to comfort you, my mom walked all around WDW with a broken toe once ....... That's a heap load of walking.

Yes, please keep us updated. I'm glad your doctor isn't just 'settling' with a non-answer. I hope they figure out what's causing all of this so that you can feel much better and so that you don't have to worry about it while you are cruisin' with us!

Glad to hear E is safe at home with you again. My countdown ticker is getting closer, but still a long ways to go.

We spent yesterday in the ER. Apparently, Alex's kidney stone may be on the move... He had periods of extreme, shrieking pain followed by normal behavior. After an ultrasound they told me what I already knew- it's the stone. But the renal doc said go to the ER, so we went.

Alex is also developing severe separation anxiety. In most ways this is great, because it shows a secure attachment and good integration into the family. However, how will I leave him at the club. He'll be escaping and pressing his face against the window at Palo crying, or the spa, or wherever I try to escape.:scared1:

It will go by fast... at least when your near the end it feels like it LOL.

OH no poor Alex hope he feels better soon, I can only imagine that pain. He may do just fine at the club, looks like there is a LOT to keep him busy I will keep my fingers crossed that he adjust to give you a lil mommy time.

Half the week has gone by and I am just now getting around to posting a Question of the Week sorry 'bout that:flower3: Okay, so we previously did animation--but What is your favourite live action Disney flick? I am expecting to see a lot of POC.

I had to google to think of more Disney live movies LOL. OK
Mine- The Pacifer (it stars my Husband, Vin Disel LMAO :cloud9: ),Cool Running (thought it was appropriate with the Olympics going on and Remember the Titans
E- POTC, and Mighty Joe Young
P- POTC,and Flubber
J- POTC, Flubber and Herby

BTW, I checked to see what the availability is on our cruise. There are options from Categories 4-12. Maybe the line for Palo reservations won't be SO bad!

CROSSING FINGERS, :thumbsup2 (closest smiley to that LOL) also this may meam an upgrade is still lingering MAYBE... seeing as we still are a GTY

On another note. I think I've broken my Big Toe! :scared1:

OH no Tiffany I hope its not broken. FEEL BETTER! Have Doug wait on you hand and foot LOL, tell him you have to rest up till the cruise:rotfl2:

wow! glad you're finally going to get it seen. Its a bummer when you break toes 'cause there's not a whole lot you can do for it. Have fun w/the x-ray!

On a positive note if it is broken and you begin to tape it NOW you may be able to wear your flip flops on the cruise. It should be healed by the time we set sial or close to it. I will keep a positive thought. Lois

So, am I correct in saying that if you stay at a Disney Hotel, you can take the Disney shuttle from the airport to the hotel for free??

Wow - this is a chatty bunch! I haven't been on in a while and I don't think I'll ever catch up so let me just jump in

So, am I correct in saying that if you stay at a Disney Hotel, you can take the Disney shuttle from the airport to the hotel for free??

Don't bet on it. That's part of the Magic Express Service, which is extra.

E - Welcome Home & Thanks Very Much for your service.
Skoi - Hang in there. Hugs to you, Alex, and the rest of your family.
LuvTheEars - Ouch!
Crissi - Good luck to you too. Hopefully things will straighten out soon.
Brandie - Congratulations! What hotel reservations are you changing to now?
FatCat - Thanks for the tip about the Water Park.

Favorite Live Action Movie: Originally I think I would say The Happiest Millionaire or Mary Poppins but the latest Journey to the Center of the Earth is pretty good.

You should be able to take Magical Express to the resort and I believe that would be included.

I worked at the Disney Store tonight and I was so excited because my name was in our company-wide internal newsletter celebrating my (and many others) 5, 10 and 15 year anniversaries with the company! I have been back at my store for 5 years in September, but I have worked for the stores and WDW for a little over 9 years but my time didn't count from my CP and I lost all of my time prior to my CP. But I was so excited! :)

Yes - if you stay at a Disney Resort, you can use Magical Express. You should arrange for it before hand (so they send you the luggage tags) but you can still have them get your luggage after you arrive even if you don't have the luggage tags in time (you just give them your receipt numbers). In 2006, my family took a land/sea vacation (they all went down for a couple of days and then a 4-day). I had already booked a 7-day trip to WDW with my DS's so I just flew down for the cruise. I wanted to fly down the day before so I just booked one night at POP. Very easy. I took ME over to the resort, checked in and grabbed a bus to DTD where I met up with my sister.

How cool!!:yay: I know you still enjoyed working at the Disney Store when it wasn't under Disney but I know you're super excited now that your back working directly with Disney again.  Sorry you lost that time but CONGRATS on the 5 years!!! :cheer2:
