We have a date, October 17, 2009 and this morning, I spoke with our two favorite venues for the reception. We're hoping to sit down and figure out cost tonight for the two venues...that is if I don't have to work!!! :scared1:

I never realized how much planning is needed to have a wedding!

and you are just starting.....just remember that no matter what it will be a wonderful day for you.....after all you are marring your prince.

Today is our 8th anniversary and I vivdly remember that there were small issues that came up and every time someone asked me what to do I would just respond with 'whatever you like'. Someone finally asked me if I was on crack because I was so calmn about it all. Nope..just realized that by that time there was not a great deal you could do about it. Problems happen....let other people help you find solutions and everything will turn out perfect.

Yeah!!!!!! Congratulations on setting the date! That's my favorite time of year, too! You'll have to make sure your photographer takes you outside to a place where there are colorful leaves all about you in the ground. It makes for a wonderful candid shot of the two of you all giddy with smiles and engaging eyes.

Honey, I don't think you'll have any time to plan for your 2010 cruise! You'll be consumed with more important plans! :goodvibes Lots and lots of details to tend to!!

Very true! All that matters is you found your prince!

Don't worry, we'll take pictures everywhere. We like the fall colors so our wedding will probably be like the yellow, orange and reds of fall.

It is a beautiful time in PA. We drove out to Lancaster on Sunday for the PA Ren Faire and the drive along the turnpike was so beautiful because of all of the fall colors!

Happy Anniversary Valerie & Gabe!! todays is my friends 8th anniv too. :)

Wedding planning??? Ours was all set and less than 3 mos before the wedding John took a new job in London, so we had to move our wedding from Feb to Dec. talk about stress. :scared1: We ended up with a 60 degree day at the end of Dec. :)
Happy planning!!

Happy Anniversary, Valerie!!!!

I remember the stress around our wedding. I was in college - taking a *very* full load (5 classes, I believe). My finals were the week before the wedding and the week after. I was suppose to have a final two days before the wedding and the Monday after it, but I exempted them. I worked very hard to do that because I knew that if I didn't, I would have to take finals around my wedding. Stress ... yes. Weddings tend to have stress surrounding them. Now, why can't we just have fun with it?! LOL!!!

Happy Anniversary, too! How exciting...two anniversaries on the same day! :)

Gabe is home with Elliott (who seems to have come down with a cold and was up coughing all night). They are going to cook me supper (a wonderful menu of scallops and green beans and this incredible salad). Other than that nothing much.

We love this time of year as well....and while there are no color changes here in Louisiana (so our outdoor wedding was very green) we honeymooned in Gatlinburg....talk about BEAUTIFUL. That made the whole thing worth it. We didn't have a big wedding (I didn't want one) so we had about 80 people, outdoors at 2 in the afternoon. The weather was PERFECT, which made it even better.

This is what I try to remind anyone I know getting married. You plan everything and on that day just relax and enjoy it! It goes by so quickly. If anything comes up, it's too late to change it so just go with the flow.

Congrats on setting a date.........are you looking at any places I may know?

We planned our wedding in a matter of a couple months. We were engaged for 4 years and I decided enough was enough. We had Steve and Denise stand up for us. We told our immediate family and friend and had a small reception at their house after. We didn't expect anyone to come but my Mom, sister and brother came along with all my girl cousins, my Godparents. My Dad decided he wanted to give me away so that was all that was there. We got married in the Historic Wedding Chapel in Elkton, Maryland.

Looking back I am so glad we did it that way. We saved our $$ to buy a house instead of having a big wedding. My family is just too big. 2 of my cousins have gotten married since and I think I paid more to be in one's wedding than I did for my own!

Whatever you decide, just remember it is your day, nothing else should matter!

Your dinner sounds yummy! Could Gabe and Elliott come up to PA and cook dinner for me sometime?! :thumbsup2 I'm very lucky though, Dave loves to cook and he is very good at it. It's not that I don't like to cook, it's just not my favorite thing to do in the world.

Hi Crissi! Well, we're looking at Saucon Valley Acres which is fairly close to Allentown. It's a good price and the food looks great! I'm going to try to sneak out of work on Saturday for a bit to go see the venue. I think my stress level will go down a lot once we have a reception site.

Hi all.

We are back from our great month away. Arrived back in the country yesterday morning at 6.30am and the kids were back at school today.

It was good to meet people from our group. Sorry we didn't meet more of you.

Tania

I'm glad you're all home safely, Tania! I very much enjoyed getting to chat with you a few times!!!

Now good luck readjusting to the real world after being gone so long!

Well dinner was great and Elliott was feeling well enough to head back to school today. I'm beginning to think though that life will never get 'back to normal'. Every time I say 'Ok...now we can settle down into a routine' something happens.

You'll be amazed at how easy everything falls into place once the reception stuff is done. Now....since I'm SOOOOOOOO far away..is there anyway I can get to see a photo of the dress once you find it? I've made several for my nieces and other people and I LOVE to see the dresses people pick out and how they match their personalities.

Don't worry, I'll post a picture of my dress once I find one! I'm excited to go dress shopping! I keep thinking to myself, next year at this time, I'm going to be married! I'm so excited!!! :yay:

Trust me that feeling doesn't go away. I can remember walking down the isle going "I can't believe I'm getting married" then I saw my daddy crying and I thought "OH MAN I"M GETTING MARRIED".

Okay, I know it's not DCL, but we're all friends here... POST WEDDING PICS! I love to look at wedding pics, even if they're not recent.

C'mon, you know all you married ladies want to show off your dresses... ;)
