Remember its your vacation....Be comfortable and wear whatever you choose...Some people enjoy getting all dressed up...:lovestruc

The one thing I have seen them enforce in the dining room is NO Swimwear. They expect that you will clean up before coming down to dinner much like you would if you were going to nice restruant for dinner at home. Outside of that just show up clean and comfortable and you should be fine. Lois

I just read a post on the main board about the group pictures being set up with shutters and they confirmed that they do charge $85. Do you think we should still go that route or try to grab a CM to take the picture for us with one of our own cameras?

What do you all think?

I think that would depend on how many of us can contribute to the cost. Shutters does a great job but I think we could get some great pictures with another cast member as well.

If we agree to go the fee route - how do we all chip in for the fee?

Just received a call from Disney....:cool1:

They were confirming my Palo & Spa reservations:thumbsup2

It must be getting really close now:goodvibes

I got that call too! I was all excited, thought we were getting upgraded. How sad is it that my next thought (after "upgrade, sweet!") when she said she was calling from DCL was "oh no, Erik will need our new room numbers now!" :rotfl:

Then she just confirmed the Palo date and rainforest pass, and gently reminded me that the other two spa days I booked were NOT covered under the REAS. Yeah, thanks for reminding me ;)

Anyone having problems with Gas Prices? We are having stations charging over $5.50 a gallon here in the Raleigh area. There are some stations with lines so bad that the police were called for crowd control. Doug was saying this all stems from IKE shutting down a large refinery for a couple of days. The Governor of NC has even stepped in to control the "Price Gouging(SP)" Is this happening anywhere else?

Tiffany

Tiffany, that's shocking! They are expecting prices here to go up a little bit but nothing like that. Which reminds me, I need to fill up today. DH filled up yesterday.

Hmmm......I might be voting for having someone else take it, and sharing the digital pic with everyone. $85? That seems a bit steep.

Happy weekend everyone!

I agree $85.00 is steep....I really don;t understand Disney...With a large group like ours they would make a killing on the 8x10's...

In order to get everyone in the pitcure a regular point & shoot digital camera would not work...You would need a digital SLR camera with a wide angle lens...in order to see the faces of the people...remember its a large group with not that much room to fit everyone into....I have all this equipment but was not planning on bringing it on this trip...:headache:

I was shocked also...In the past the spa treatment were included in the REAS package...I just cancelled mine...

Coming late to the online party...but will be seeing you all in a couple weeks.

In case anyone is interested...just got Hyatt MCO on hotwire for the night before the cruise for $79 - a real steal. Especially fantastic for us as our AirTran flight will arrive (if all goes well) at 11:30 pm on Friday. Thanks again Midwest for cancelling my flight. Arggh.

This trip will just be my DH and myself.

Love all the great info everyone, thanks.

Mary & Chad

Welcome!!!!:cheer2:

I wanted to post this quickly...

It looks like our Galveston/Houston friends are in for some serious trouble with Ike. We are in the DFW area. If you are visiting town & need anything, please PM me. I would put my cell number here, but I'm afraid that's not smart.

They've cancelled Jessie's volleyball tournament for tomorrow because if Ike:confused3 My understanding is that, here, we're getting rain. Still not sure why they cancelled her stuff.

BUT-if you have family members that have come to DFW for safety, feel free to PM me as well. I want to help if someone needs it!

Good luck to all in Ike's path!!!!

Denise, I tried that code you sent for Budget (W81000) and it wasn't working. I did find 2 other ones if anybody wants them. They are through Costco so you have show your membership card. BCD# W852802 and coupon code # UUPZ011.

I got rental full size car for $23.72 before taxes. After taxes and a booster seat it was $41.03.

So do you use both codes?? I have a Costco card so i'd love to get a better deal!

Let me know if we are totally out of line.

We weren't planning on paying the FULL recommended tip for the dining room servers for Sarah. (not stiffing totally just not paying the full amount). I mean she is barely 4 months old. She can't even sit in a high chair, so they don't even have to "get" that for her. She does not eat any solids (though will just be starting rice cereal when we cruise, which I am bringing from home and will be preparing and feeding to her myself). I just don't see where she is really getting the service. Do the restaurant servers see an infant of that age as a true "person" they should receive a tip for???? Has anyone else ever taken babies that little, and if so how have you handled the dining room tips?

Of course we are giving the full amount for the stateroom host/hostess as they will be performing service that actually directly affects her (pack n play, diaper genie, etc.) In fact we will probably tip them MORE, lol!;)

Just curious if the general consensus agrees or if we should reconsider how we plan on doing that.

I would not even think of tipping the servers for the little one. Or just a portion at most (if she leaves any real necessity for a clean up - i.e. food on the floor, etc).

I don't know how you military wives/moms do it.

DH is in the Nat'l Guard and has been gone all week to "help" with the hurricane... yeah, our tax dollars at work are him sitting in a hotel room in Corpus Christi. I have to keep telling myself he's getting paid for his normal civil service job AND sitting in a hotel room and that means maybe we can afford an upgrade at the port (if there are any). I don't think I could manage otherwise.

He just got back a couple of weeks ago from his "two weeks in the summer". I'm not a great mom... I totally can't handle him being gone. I end up melting down every couple of days. I can't imagine what you must go through when your husband (or wife!) is gone for months on end.

I know how lucky I am that he's eligible for retirement now, and that if he sticks it out another year the retirement benefits go WAAY up, and that I will be glad for that when the time comes, but on days like today when everything is going wrong, I just want to scream. (Calgon take me away!)

At least the "big boat" (as we call it in our house) is only 2 weeks away! All three of us need a vacation desperately. (Though, I suspect my boss isn't thrilled as he thought we'd be WAY past this release before I left...)

Ok, rant over... thanks.

My goodness, keep safe, take a deep breath and know that he'll be home soon.

Seriously, that's outrageous. They're going to make their money on the pictures that they will sell (they'd probably be in the black after the first picture sold!!!). All I know is that we had a group picture of 20 people taken in 2000 and there was no charge. We just arranged a time with Shutters and took it in front of Triton's (and that was before they went digital with the photos). I mean it will probably take them 10-15 minutes at most and they'll make a fortune on the re-sells. Maybe when inquiring at Shutters we can negotiate with the head person explaining the benefits of them giving us a photographer for 10 minutes and selling say 25-30 photos (if not more) or selling "0" photos???

Charlie, how's the knee feeling?

The knee is coming along...I still walk with crutches but don't totally depend on them...At that point is when I get a shooting pain in my knee to remind me that I'm not ready yet?
