I'm totally with you on the handmade thing! I always try to handmake something for my friends during the holidays & even when they don't turn out as cute as they should have in my head, I don't sweat it because everyone knows I tried!

:grouphug: Come to our room for a Safe Place :rotfl:

I *love* homemade stuff. I don't think I could ever be disappointed in stuff that someone takes the time and energy to make.

GOOD! Sounds like I need a place to hide from Chris!!

Hey...does anyone have an update on Alex that they're permitted to share? I'm concerned since Julie hasn't been posting in a couple if not a few days.

I was wondering, too.

Has anyone heard from Charlie? I wonder how he is doing too.

Hopefully, he's just not been on because he's been loopy on good pain-killing drugs. :)

Have this been asked yet?
how many plan to rebook while on board?

No plans as of yet. We're thinking about another big trip to WDW in February or so. Since my oldest ds will be leaving next summer (or so) for boot camp, I'd really like another big family thing before he goes.

To add to this question: What time are each of you planning on getting to the port? We will be there bright and early, hopefully when it opens :rolleyes1

We're getting there around 10. We shouldn't have a line to wait in, though, since we have a separate check-in line. Not sure what we're going to do while we're waiting to board, though.

Awesome! We'll be at the MNSSHP.:cool1:

On the 4th?? Us, too!!!!

Chris ..... it's a big ship. You can't be everywhere - or have minions everywhere!!!! :cool2:

A client of mine just got back from a Hawaiian cruise (not sure whitch line) and he said that they charged $100 per person to go ashore at each island stop! :scared1: He said that they were not told about this extra charge by their travel agent before hand.

Weird... is this a new charge? we went to the hawaiian islands and never had to pay any fees... of course that was in 2002..

for part of the time you'll be picking up your lanyards! :thumbsup2

Target has LOTs of pirate shirts for adults and kids, of course I find them after I made them, Oh well, it was fun and I like them!

Really? I couldn't find any at ours :sad2: Maybe I'll check another one. I have one from a year ago for me, but Lionel decided he wanted one which is SO not like him, so I figure I have to act fast before he changes his mind!

I believe the 1/2 price down payment is still in effect at least for the beginning of our cruise so I'm hoping to take advantage of that. Yes I know I still have to pay everything in the end but it's less up front!!

I'm hoping to get there bright and early!!!!! :dance3:

Pre-book two cruises for the price of one! Too bad the cruise cost can't be buy one get one free......we'll book my friend's 10/09 wedding cruise onboard to save the deposit, but it's only a 3 day so I don't think we get a discount, just shipboard credit. We MIGHT book a dummy date as well, and move it to 2010 when the dates come out, since both deposits would be half price.

Hey... don't blame me... it is my ALL my hubby.. :snooty: Do they have a DCL 12 step program I can enroll him in? :sad2:

Whatever you do, DON'T LET HIM ENROLL! Enjoy what you've got, sister :thumbsup2

I didn't know we could book 2010 dates yet :confused3 I would love to rebook, but not sure if it is in the budget right now. We will have to see how much we end up spending on :drinking1

We will be booking our 6th cruise while onboard. We too are hoping the nice magical cruise lady :wizard: gives us the 'hush, hush' dates for 2010...they did that before when we booked in 2006 on the ship (2008 dates had not been released yet..that's how we got this one. So I'm keeping my fingers crossed....

We're getting there early, too.....I'm assuming we'll be there by or at 10am.

As for whether its' in your budget.....I'd really encourage you to think of it as only needing the DEPOSIT to be in your budget....becasue like I said...if you book the cruise and as it gets closer you realize you just aren't going to have the funds to pay for it or the dates won't work (or you hate the itinerary or something), you just change it and rebook it and (although I've never done it) there is no penalty.

We'll be there at the 'butt crack of dawn' with everyone else waiting in line till the port opens 10.

I agree with Erik....BOOK ONLINE IF YOU CAN!!! we've booked 'dummy dates' for every cruise. The onboard incentives make it much more enticing and you get half off the deposit. When we go in 2010 we will have 4 people in our family but we will only be making a res. for my DH and I....(we've done this also in the past and just added our little guy on at a later time when it was in budget) :rolleyes1 This helps keeps your deposit amount down as well....just a thought.

We just had a freaky car accident.

PHEW! Hope everyone is O.K.....those darn concrete bumpers just seem to jump out of nowhere! When I had my '02 Altima the plastic cover that protects the underside of the car would always get pulled off even if I just 'tapped' :rolleyes1 it.

Probably E will drop off off at 10am (or a tad earlier :rolleyes1 ) then he will take the car back to the rental place and shuttle it over to us. I thought you couldnt book dummy dates anymore.. if you cancle your out the 10% booking and onboard credit... am I right? I thought this was brought up a few weeks/months ago about a new Disney policy. someone PLEASE correct me if im wrong!

Just wanted to let you know (just in case you didn't already know) you can not check in until EVERY member of your 'party' is present; although you can get into the port and wait! You'll have lots of people to keep you busy till he gets back! :hippie:

Also, you can still book 'dummy dates' on board - this has not changed. I called the nice lady at DCL reservations and she confirmed this since we have no idea what we will be doing in 2 years.

I was just thinking about her today. I hope everything is all right.

Welcome to the newbies!!:welcome:

You all have been very chatty while I was at work! I had pages to catch up on!

We are going to book I think for 2010. :) My mom is going to join us. :)
Maybe I will talk dh into a 4 day Wonder cruise too.

We plan to rebook also. That is if my DW enjoys the cruise.

We plan to arrive at 10 AM when the port opens. Hope to see you there.

I bet that's why I missed them: I was looking in the T-shirt area only, and completely skipped the Halloween shirts area. Hmmm......field trip to Target tomorrow!

In other news, I got something exciting in the mail today: a book! A book that I am a featured author in! :woohoo: My first book!!!!!!! I don't get any royalties from it, so I hope it's ok if I talk about it here. Anyhow, it's a book or inspirational pet stories, and a portion of the proceeds goes to animal charity. I'm very excited. If anyone is interested, I'll post more info. Or you can PM me. I swear, I don't get any kickbacks from it, I already got paid a year ago when I submitted the story :thumbsup2

Yay for books! It might be my last so I am going to enjoy my 15 minutes right here in the DIS :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

OK .....it looks like there's already been some answers on this question....but also I thought I'd share what my TA (who is a very reliable source of information) told me in an email. Here is her reply to my question about dummy dates:

Hi Erik,

I called the regular DCL Travel Agent line and the DCL Groups line and got the same answer from both cast members…that you can book onboard and then move the date without penalty. You will not lose your discount or onboard credits. Now with that being said, once you get on board ask the booking agent before you book to double check. I can’t imagine they would put this policy into action but stranger things have happened!

So it looks like Drea is right (I think it was her who posted) that dummy dates are still allowable and if you saw a policy about a penalty or something it must have been more about their official cancellation policy and not cancelling or changing your cruise reservations after a certain window.

So that means Jason and I will definitely be booking ONE set of dummy dates....maybe even two.

Anyone arriving to port late? I *think* I've decided that we'll take the DCL bus from the resort to the port and the bus doesn't leave until around noon - so I'll won't probably get checked in and be on board before 1:30 or 2 or something. I have the CR booked with the MK view so I'm going to try to enjoy that for a few extra hours!

We got there early last time and that is fun but I've decided this time I just don't want the hassle of driving and returning the rental car and all that. Yes...that is being extremely lazy!:upsidedow

We took the Disney Bus from the Beach Club last September. We didn't get to the port until 1:30PM. It was fine. There were no lines to check in so we walked right on the ship after we got our key to the world card and CC lanyard, and we had plenty of time to eat before they closed the buffet.

:goodvibes By the way, how did you people get through 10 pages within 48 hours?:rolleyes1

I think were getting really crazy here:yay: :cheer2:

I want more info on the book. I'm always looking for things like this for my mom. She's a breeder (I know...breeder's are bad..but she is a VERY responsible breeder and her dogs are litterally like family to her).
