Are any of you going to swim with the dolphins or sting rays? Just wondering which company to go with? Is it worth it?
One other thing.. this is off the subject, but do you know what the deal is with American Airlines? I booked a while back and I just heard they are making people pay a fee for each piece of luggage. If you already booked is it the same? This is not good if we have to pay more
Tonya
We have already booked a dolphin experience in Cozumel with
Dolphin Discovery. I've read some positive things on it and Samantha Brown has been to this particular place, so I take stock in that.
As for fees on luggage, a growning number of airlines have already envoked this new policy of charging their clients for any checked-in luggage in excess of ONE (per passenger) on domestic flights. It's terribly sad for so many reasons. I think the majority of major US airlines have this in place now. Southwest hasn't yet, however.
Are you exempt? I'm afraid not.

Generally speaking, the airlines are not grandfathering you if you booked prior to the fee being imposed. They simply have a start date when it begins for most everyone. International flights have different rules/exceptions as well as in most cases First Class and Business Class flyers. Check out
AA's website for details that you'll want to be aware of. Also, keep in mind that these fees listed are for ONE WAY. So if you leave home with 2 pieces of luggage and need to come back with two, that's $50 for one suitcase....so that's kinda sneeky, too. I guess if you need a one-way ticket, then you would be happy. I have flown one way with one carrier and then my way home with another, however, I would think most vacation travelers stick with the same airline and come back home with MORE to pack up and send home, not less! Regardless, since most airlines have this fee in place, you're likely not going to avoid it.
OH! One other note. Make sure you don't overpack that suitcase trying to avoid having two pieces. They're really strict on charging you around $75 if you go over the 50 pound limit for one piece of luggage (again, that's one way). So that is more costly for you than bringing that second piece.
