Question for Castaway Club Members....

We have had our cruise paid off for a couple of months now. If you go onto DCL's website and look at the "My Cruise Reservation Details", what should the "Status" be? Mine still says "Booked".

Dreams Unlimited's website has shown we have a zero balance since the day after we paid it off, however, I was wondering if it's expected to be displayed as PIF on DCL's website so I have no worries that come T-75 DCL knows I'm paid.

Are any of you going to swim with the dolphins or sting rays? Just wondering which company to go with? Is it worth it?

One other thing.. this is off the subject, but do you know what the deal is with American Airlines? I booked a while back and I just heard they are making people pay a fee for each piece of luggage. If you already booked is it the same? This is not good if we have to pay more :faint:

We have already booked a dolphin experience in Cozumel with Dolphin Discovery. I've read some positive things on it and Samantha Brown has been to this particular place, so I take stock in that. ::yes::

As for fees on luggage, a growning number of airlines have already envoked this new policy of charging their clients for any checked-in luggage in excess of ONE (per passenger) on domestic flights. It's terribly sad for so many reasons. I think the majority of major US airlines have this in place now. Southwest hasn't yet, however.

Are you exempt? I'm afraid not. :( Generally speaking, the airlines are not grandfathering you if you booked prior to the fee being imposed. They simply have a start date when it begins for most everyone. International flights have different rules/exceptions as well as in most cases First Class and Business Class flyers. Check out AA's website for details that you'll want to be aware of. Also, keep in mind that these fees listed are for ONE WAY. So if you leave home with 2 pieces of luggage and need to come back with two, that's $50 for one suitcase....so that's kinda sneeky, too. I guess if you need a one-way ticket, then you would be happy. I have flown one way with one carrier and then my way home with another, however, I would think most vacation travelers stick with the same airline and come back home with MORE to pack up and send home, not less! Regardless, since most airlines have this fee in place, you're likely not going to avoid it.

OH! One other note. Make sure you don't overpack that suitcase trying to avoid having two pieces. They're really strict on charging you around $75 if you go over the 50 pound limit for one piece of luggage (again, that's one way). So that is more costly for you than bringing that second piece.

Kimberly, ours still says booked, not PIF as well (we paid months ago). I don't think DCL changes it. I hope so anyway :) . I can't remember what it was last time we cruised though. However I could do our ressies at the 75 day mark with no problems.

Erik,

According to the thread, they are trying something new with the time. The pirate party takes place around 7:30 with the fireworks going off around 8:20 (at which time everyone says is dark). They apparently have been extending the late dinner for that night and starting at 8:30. After the party/fireworks, the late seaters head to dinner.

It looks like the pirate buffet takes place later (around 10) and does not include the turkey legs.

It's posted that this is just a trial for now. We'll just have to wait it out and see what happens.

OK...I understand better now.....interesting switch. So us late diners will go to the party and fireworks then rush down for our dinner then go back up to deck to have dessert. Yuck. Hopefully this trial they're doing will bomb and by the time we get back on the ship they have returned it to normal! :lmao:

No, DCL does not change the status from "Booked" once you pay in full. My first cruise was a last minute booking (as in, less than 75 days until sailing) and it stayed "Booked."

I hope everyone had a great weekend!

Thanks, Brandie!

I absolutely cannot believe that I go into double digit countdown on Friday!!! :woohoo: :hyper: :woohoo: :hyper:

I agree with you.. :thumbsup2 I hope they change it Back!! Our son is 18 now but we have always had late night seating.. and to go up to the deck party then back down to eat then back up is going to be a pain in the tush..

Maggie62677: Our son will turn 4 in just a couple of weeks. He's a very timid little guy and I'm a bit worried about him and the fireworks but we'll see what happens. I'll just do what I usually do for church : pack ear plugs and stand near an exit. I plan on making sure he gets a very good nap on this day so he can stay up late for the show (can you guys tell I'm not holding stock in the changes being made? ;) )

OK....is there anyone out there who is doing the Palo tea that I might be able to tag along with. DH can't drink tea and I would like to do this but would rather not do it solo (though I will if need be). Also if you are single at this even does anyone know if they sit you at a table with other dinners? :confused3

I hear you!! We go into double digits on Wednesday!!:thumbsup2 (DVC has these countdown widgets you can load onto your desktop on your computer that will countdown to the second your next vacation.....and right now it says 101 days, 11 hours, 50 minutes, and 34 seconds!!!)

Palo isn't group tables, so you would be sitting alone at your reservation. However, that being said, if you end up waiting outside Palo with friends, you can ask to be seated at the same table. It was DH and I for brunch at a 4 top, though my friend and I had a 2 top for tea.

Sorry, I'm dumping my DH and taking my mom to tea. :rotfl: He's quite happy with that arrangement. No watercress sandwiches for him! :thumbsup2

For those who haven't followed the Pirate Party thread, I seems like apparently this was tried on the 6/1 Wonder cruise and the subsequent cruise went back to the regular time slot with the late Pirate Party and buffet (including the turkey legs).

Hi everyone
Hope all had a good weekend!

Its supposed to reach 100 degrees here today, kids got early dismissal noon and our pool is opening at 1PM :thumbsup2

We have not gotten the fun planning book, I am going to go with "our last name begins with a V" that was so funny:rotfl2:

Double digit peeps that is SO COOL, we wont hit double digits until June 20... but who's counting:confused3

Hope everyone has a good day, keep cool!

Welcome to any newbies I missed, work was WAY TO BUSY this weekend:(

I am going to try really really hard to get a High Tea for the Women of our group.. There will be 6 women.. IF we get a table or two you are More then Welcome to come join us.. Keep in touch and I will let you know what I can get if anything.. In December, I couldn't book the Tea at all and was sooo disappointed..

:worried:

Elliott's Mommy, the jury is still out on if we're going to tea or not. I actually emailed my DMom last night telling her that she and DGM need to get on the ball and tell me what they want me to try and get in terms of reservations! Time's a tickin'!!

Of course I'm not eligible until the T-75 mark, so I'm kinda doubting I'll get tea on-line if they even want to do it. However, if we do, you are most welcome to join us! Since we would have three, there's no doubt room for one more regardless of where they seat us.

I think there's someone else (or maybe two someone else's) who also mentioned they might be interested in joining a group as they would otherwise have to do tea solo as well . It's been a long time since that's been brought up, and SHOCKER....I didn't keep track of that! :scared1: :rotfl:

thanks guys for the offers to join. I can't reserve my spot until the T-75 day slot as well but once I do I might take you guys up on the offer to join a group. (if I can even get a reservation).

What a disappointment - I was excited to read the pirate festivities had been moved earlier, and now it seems that won't be the case for us. :( My kidlets would *never* be able to stay up past 9pm... I guess I'm sewing them cute pirate clothes for nothing. :(

AQW - there's still the pirate dinner and you can get their pictures taken (I believe pirate Mickey is out for photos in the atrium - at least he was on the Wonder two years ago).

We got ours too.. I was disappointed when the cover of the first part says shore excursions.. and yet.. no excursions were in it.. :worried:

I WANT MINE!!!!!
*stamps her feet and throws a tantrum, Verucca Salt style*

I'm glad they are keeping it as is, for purely selfish reasons. Being at dinner on Pirate Night starts the build-up of anticipation to the show and the fireworks! It would kind of stink to have to bustle back down the the restaurants right afterwards......

Happy Monday, everyone!
