DVC 1,000 Point Club (2026)

.... and... ? (lol) What does ChatGPT say is the ideal number of points and resorts to own?

Me too. We originally added on more to take grand parents and over the years have done many trips with friends and family - the latest is a 12-person trip I am planning in a 2 br (8) and studio (4). Will admit I did look at point costs for a GV and ... nope. not yet. That said, we are looking forward to our next member cruise being just the 4 of us.

See above: this will be the 2nd or 3rd time we are having 8 in a 2br. 🤣But my kids get the living room and the other family of 4 gets the second bedroom. Breakfasts are fun. My kids are still tween/teen so I make them sleep in the LR of our 1br. They have now become princesses and don't want to sleep on a sofa bed. Murphy beds only, and preferably resorts with TWO murphys in the LR. Ungrateful children.
I think this is an example of why the rooms are getting so beat up and we need a more frequent refresh cycle.

The last thing we want after being in a crowded park or a crowded Aulani pool deck is to go back up to our room and have it be jammed with more people…. I understand other people do not feel this way… but the reason we bought into DVC was for SPACE and not to “Stay Deluxe at a Moderate Price”

Also, there is a HUGE difference between Ocean View and Ocean Front with regards to a view.

Aulani GV is definitely worth the premium, IMO.
It was a lot of points, but that view was amazing! We got a 1 bedroom Oceanview for our friends and they ended up with a decent view too but it's the luck of the draw for ocean views at any hotel.

We won't do a GV again there bc of the points, but dang I freaking loved that view.

Does any GV in the entire DVC system have 3.5 bathrooms?

RIV, BLT, VGC…. I think those are all 2.5 bathroom 2BDs…. and I believe their GVs have 3.5 bathrooms….

Also, BWV GV has 3 bathrooms…. but the primary bathroom is an absolute disgrace for a primary bathroom in a Grand Villa…. and having stayed in the BW Presidential Suite, I KNOW they know how to make an amazing bathroom….

The VGF had 4 bathrooms

Good to know about VGF…. that’s still on the bucket list… but I know their 2BDs only have 2 bathrooms….

Debating on 2BR vs Grand Villa for an Aulani trip myself. It's for 7 of us, so 2BR Ocean View seems like enough, but then the GV looks amazing (but at over twice the cost per night) 🤔
Had the same conversation for an upcoming AUL trip in Oct. We chose the 3BR GV for 4 adults and 2 kids for 8 nights. It’s nice having a dedicated living room that isn’t a part time bedroom.

And the additional sq footage is needed with the in-laws!!🙄

I will stay in one of the new A-Frames that is a promise! But I don’t have 1000 unrestricted points to play with. 🫤
SAP+ points for the win. That somewhat fire sale on RVA points in 2022 was awesome. The only issue is that when I can afford to buy another 500+ direct points a few years from now that will be my memory baseline and it's going to hard to consider something in the 200s a deal......

Yep it’s already trending way up

Hmmm...just doing the math now on that:

500 pts. x $200 = $100,000. Ouch.

I need to get off this thread. I'm going to move over to "buying a new car" thread...it's cheaper.

Funny thing is that often when we arrive at the Grand Cal porte cochere to drop off our bags for our stay we have just drove a few hours through some dusty areas and our cars aren't beaters but they are getting a bit older and usually one of the least fancy in the drive but we are always checking into a 3BR or 2BR there. Coming up in a few months will be our first stay where we are going to "slum" it in a 1BR.

I'd rather have the less fancy car and more points! The car is just going to sit out there in the parking lot and get dirty anyways :)

It’s a bit uncouth to discuss such things in this particular thread.
