Its supposed to reach 100 degrees here today, kids got early dismissal noon and our pool is opening at 1PM :thumbsup2

I feel your pain! I live very close to you (I'm actually in Allentown, but my DBF and his mom live closer to you) and I can feel your pain! I'm watching NBC10 news right now and it says 97 degrees! I guess it will prepare us for our WDW trip #1 next month!

My twin is a teacher and when she walked into her classroom this morning, it was 86 degrees! :scared1: That is not a good learning environment...it's a good thing school is almost over!

So MagicMe, my DBF and I went shopping yesterday to look for fabric for our fish extenders...we weren't sucessful but we did find Mickey Mouse shaped cheddar cheese! :thumbsup2

To anybody in the PA, NJ, MD, NY - anywhere where it is hot, stay cool! :)

Yuck. That sounds too hot even for a warm weather girl like me.
Hope the craft show goes well despite the temps :thumbsup2 .

Tania

Thanks!! The day was yucky, but I did well enough to completely pay for the REAS package when I combined craft show $$ w/some other I had squirreled away. So I booked the REAS package today!!! We'll be able to book ressies Sat at midnight. Woohoo!!

For those who haven't followed the Pirate Party thread, I seems like apparently this was tried on the 6/1 Wonder cruise and the subsequent cruise went back to the regular time slot with the late Pirate Party and buffet (including the turkey legs).

WOO HOO!! So that means it's likely we'll have our normal party? Yippee!! Honestly I don't care about the turkey legs....but I do love the chili they have on the buffet usually!! :thumbsup2

For those considering the ruins at Costa Maya:

Do you have any idea what time the longer trip gets back to the ship? We're thinking of booking Palo ressies for that night, but weren't sure if we'd be able to make a 7:30ish ressie. This is assuming that things stay the same as they have for previous CM excursions.

This is from the 2008 Passporter Cruise Guide Book:
Kohunlich Mayan Ruins (CM06) 6.5 hours meeting time 10:00AM

Chetumal Myan Museum & Spanish Fort (CM04) 6.5 hours meeting time 10:15AM

Chaccah0ben Mayan Ruins (CM03) 4.5-5 hours meeting time 12:00 noon

Hi Cruisers,

I don't mean to highjack your thread. I am on the Oct 25th Costa Maya Double dip. Buckeye gal was already so helpful to us~~I thought I'd ask another question. I saw that you had someone in your group organizing lanyards. I am the person doing name tags for our meet. :scared1: We are a large group (274) not quite as large as yours. Any suggestions for where to look for inexpensive lanyards?

Thanks for any help you can give me!

Dana

party: :jumping1: :rockband: :rockband:

YEA!! I got my Ship and Shore Vacation Guide in the mail today!! I'm so excited I can't wait to read through it tonight!!!

Hi Everyone! We got our envelope today! Funny, but Mom in Alabama got hers before we did in Florida. It's been a looooong week for all of us, as my Mom had to have open heart surgery last week. She's doing well now but it's been very scary and stressfull. Her doctors say she'll be fine to travel in September so that's great. In fact, when she came home from the hospital Sunday her packet was waiting for her, and I think it really helped to cheer her up. I think this cruise might be just the thing to motivate her to a quick recovery!

As far as the packet goes, it's nothing new for those that have sailed before but still fun to receive. It's a shame they give us no real information on shore excursions.

Stay cool everyone, I swear it's hotter up north than down here in Florida.

We have already booked a dolphin experience in Cozumel with Dolphin Discovery. I've read some positive things on it and Samantha Brown has been to this particular place, so I take stock in that. ::yes::

Well, we finally made a decision - we've joined the 1PM booking for the Dolphin Encounter through Dolphin Discovery. Still waiting to get the confirmation em that there's space for DD, but I'm hoping there is room.

It was a hard decision as I'd really like to see Xcaret, but have read that the underground river may be a bit long for DD. I'm hoping the 1PM time will give us a little bit of time to do a little shopping/exploring in Cozumel.

Schools let out at 11:30am today and will again tomorrow. I already got the Recording from the HS.. One more day to go and then it is suppose to Break :faint: and give us a little of a relief

We are looking into excursions....

Castaway is for Parasailing

Cozumel looks like the Xcaret Eco- Archaeological Park

Costa Maya we are stuck between 2..

Beach Snorkel Adventure or Catamaran Sail & Snorkel

:confused3

Anyone have reviews or reccomendations? I do have an old passporter so I have the reviews from it...

We also want Palo Dinner, Palo High Tea

Anyone else almost done with Planning? :surfweb:

As for fees on luggage, a growning number of airlines have already envoked this new policy of charging their clients for any checked-in luggage in excess of ONE (per passenger) on domestic flights. way).

I was looking into the dolphin experience too. I don't know if we should do that or the Xcaret. I guess I need to find out more info. on Xcaret.

Thanks for the info. on AA too. I thought we had to pay for the first bag we checked. It's good to know the first one is free. Let's see how good I can pack now! :)

I was reading about the Xcaret too. Do you have a good website for that? I saw something about it in the Passporter book. It was an older one, so I don't know if there is a site that might be better. Thanks!

YES! YES! YES! I called DCL today and they told me nothing has changed. Pirate night lives on & turkey legs too.

Thanks for the info anyway MagicMe.

Erik and Hadley, I've PM'd Dana with some info on the lanyards. You'll see that you're cc: as well. I'm sure you can give her even more information, but I had seen that on their Meets she was anxious to pass along info to her group, so I thought I would get her started.

Yep...HOT HOT HOT here, too. I know at 8:00 tonight it was 89 degrees F!!!! The "normal" average has a high of 80. Crazy. There were also some schools around our area that had to close early due to heat as well.

OH my! I'm so sorry to hear that you've all been so stressed and that she's not felt well. Thankfully she should be feeling much better soon! It's great that she had a little pick-me-up when she arrived home today.

Well, we finally made a decision - we've joined the 1PM booking for the Dolphin Encounter through Dolphin Discovery.....

Yeah!!! I'm so glad that you and your family (hopefully) will be with us, too!

I do recall that on our website there's a posting or two on Xcaret. You might want to check that out as well.

Here's a couple of other posts:
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1500000
An extensive report on Xcaret w/lots of photos. She does a great job describing what they experienced at Xcaret. One thing that really jumped out since we have a little one is the warning about the shark exhibit - no railing! This didn't influence us to not do Xcaret, just something to be aware of.

A query I posted on the main board to help me decide between dolphins & Xcaret. The last post is then one saying the underground river was a little long for a 5 yr old in her group.

We've had 4 straight days of record breaking heat here, including 3 of the 4 in the triple digits! At least our typical summer humidity hasn't really kicked in yet.

Yep! It should be all 3 of us (as long as they confirm there's room for DD). I'm hoping DD doesn't get freaked out or anything...it takes her a while to warm up to touching things (sting rays, fish) in the touch pools at the aquariums we've been to.

I put down what we are thinking in red
We are looking into excursions....

Castaway is for ParasailingWe are thinking doing the Two Day Castaway Geataway and Castaway Ray's Sting Ray thinger
om it...

Cozumel looks like the Xcaret Eco- Archaeological ParkWe are thinking Xcaret as well or possibly Nochi Cocom

Costa Maya we are stuck between 2..

Beach Snorkel Adventure or Catamaran Sail & SnorkelHoping to do one of the ruin tours here

We also want Palo Dinner, Palo High Tea We would like those as well and maybe the brunch

We booked it today too!
The reservation guy asked if we wanted the alcoholic version, or the non-alcoholic version. I was like.....don't you know who I AM??? :rotfl2:

I'm excited about the package, seems like it will be lots of fun. We were planning to do Palo anyway, and to do the week-long Rainforest room. Lionel is VERY excited about breakfast in bed. He has decided he wants steak and eggs already. :rotfl:

I'll see you online Saturday ;)

My Passporter has no reviews of Costa Maya excursions. :confused3 BUT I do know we are doing:

Castaway Cay: 2 day getaway package
Cozumel: Eco Park and Snorkel (XCaret looks amazing, but I can't handle the trip there and back)
Costa Maya: Chaccohoben (because I want to see the Mayan ruins)

And of course, the Palo trifecta: dinner, tea and brunch :thumbsup2

I am done planning! Well, excursions anyhow. I still have to get about a million other things.....

Woo Hoo ! Good luck with getting DD in too. It is going to be one awesome group of DISers! The trip to the Dolphin Discovery is short from the pier. I read somewhere (where could that be?) that the ride to Xcaret is quite a bit longer and it was a bit much for the smaller ones. Glad you are joining us.
