Greetings fellow Disneyacks! I really felt that I had to post this thread, just because I believe I was misled on the character breakfast in Cinderella's Castle. (Sadly a very big let down)

I am a vetern to Disney World (over 25 years now) and my family has done, well now, every character breakfast that the place has had to offer (even the Villians when they had it)and was always pleased, well till now.

In Aug we confirmed a reservation for Cinderella's castle. We got the reservation quicky, that wasn't a problem.
:) :) :)
Let me start with the good things, everyplace has some. Fairy Godmother was wonderful!!!! She was one of the only things that made it slightly memoriable. The castle itself was a plus and we were seated quickly.
:rolleyes1
Negative things. OH the price! It was so so expensive and the food was bad. Everything on your plate was fried, I asked for something to be cooked a specific way, it was not. I informed them on the reservation, and when we arrived at the castle that it was my daughters birthday, they made note of it, but nothing was done till "yet again" I reminded them. For some crazy reason the castle leaked the day we were there :umbrella: ...so not only were we wet from the rain outside, we had the pleasure of being hit with rain while we ate.

I also found the place very very loud and confusing, the staff was running and we even got someone elses check. Fun huh?

The princesses were very very rushed and not exactly friendly..with the exception on Snow White. Previous breakfast (Princess Breakfast in Norway) the princesses took their time and made several rounds) characters spent time with my child.

If this is the only dining experience you want, I suggest someplace else. I personally liked breakfast at the Grand Flordian with Mary Poppins and Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary. I also very very much liked The Princess Breakfast in Norway at Epcot.

Make your own decissions, but I think the truth should be told about this place instead of all the "fluff" that people print. There never seems to be anything negative printed, I can't believe I am on the only person who experienced this.

Any questions, please feel free to email me.

I figure we're probably one of the suckers temped into CRT this coming Nov trip. It is our daughters (6 and 2) first trip to Disney so we figured - why not. I heard the food is nothing to write home about and the princesses can be hurried. Whatever for the kids :) Hopefully with a ressie at 8:10 AM the princesses will be in better mood :)

Oh well, if not for the kids, our lives would be so much simpler :)

You aren't the only one that isn't really all that keen on Cindy's breakfast at the castle. We've been once... wanted to go last trip SOLELY because it was for my youngest's birthday and she's a major princess (especially Cindy ofcourse) fan... but we probably won't ever even bother trying to eat breakfast there again. We have a lot more fun and enjoy the food more (and buffet style is more our style for my family with picky eaters/light eaters/etc.) at GF for the Cindy dinner. :)

We ate CRT for breakfast when we went two January's ago. It was something that we never thought of doing before and wanted to do since it would be a new adventure for us. And yes, we did get a little sucked into the hype as well - LOL. We didn't tell them it was our DD12 (at the time 10) birthday, but she did wear her b-day pin. Our server was pleasant and he did announce to the entire seating hall that it was our Daughter's bithday and everyone there had to sing - that was fun, and at the end of the meal before getting the check he brought her out a cupcake and a magical memory card with Cinderella and the Prince's signatures, along with his. Maybe because it was January, but the CM were all very attentive and took a nice while with all the family's. Cinderella and the Prince got to stop by our table 2 times. We had a very nice time and the food was Disney standard fare. We are glad we did it, but haven't done it again, and she hasn't even asked us to do it again.

Unless my DD7 and DD8 specifically express a desire to eat at the Castle, we won't be going there. They don't know there is a restaurant!

It used to be so very difficult to meet any characters. Now, even Cindy is available anytime in Toontown. (a good thing)

I am sure it is magical in it's own right, but we will pass for know.

We just got back from our trip which included breakfast at CRT. We really enjoyed it. We thought the food was great. Fairy Godmother was our favorite, but only because we had about 20 mins of one on one time with her. We just happened to hit it right when we got done eating and no one else was in there with her. The princesses did come around only once. The place was busy! They all were friendly, just didn't get to spend a lot of time. This was the only negative we had. We will definitely do the castle again. DD3 loved it! When Mary Poppins came over, DD told her she was trying to say supercali....yada yada. Mary told her to keep practicing and then dh said we want to hear you say it backwards. So she said ok on the count of three! Then she turned around putting her back to my dh and said it the correct way! :rotfl: :rotfl: Then she turned back around and said or you could say it and then proceeded to say it backwards. Then she winked at him and said "But you need to do it the other way". :rotfl: :rotfl: I was crying I was laughing so hard!

Didn't like it myself. Norway's is better. :Pinkbounc

A great alternative I've found that not a lot of people know about is the Cindy's Gala Feast at the GF. A good end to an evening at MK as its right on the monorail and is the ONLY dinner event in which Cindy can be found. Food, as it always is anywhere in the GF is fantastic and is just as elegant an atmosphere.

i guess i will cross for my fingers for a non-rainy day when we go!! or bring a poncho!! who knew it could rain in the castle.

i like to read the good, bad and ugly experiences whenever i travel so thanks for sharing. the one thing that jumped out about your experience is when you said "Make your own decissions, but I think the truth should be told about this place instead of all the "fluff" that people print. There never seems to be anything negative printed, I can't believe I am on the only person who experienced this."

i don't think people try to mislead anyone with their experiences. they are just writing about what THEY experienced, just as you did. and i thank you for taking time to write about your experience, and others who write about any part of the MK experience for that matter-- that is why this board is so helpful.

i can only speak for myself of course but i am not doing the CRT for me or the food. i am doing it for my very own little 3 yr old princess who would be heartbroken if she did not get to go to the castle. so yes, i bought into the hype, tried calling for 3 days straight until i finally got a ressie, and i fully expect her to not eat one bite of her $20 breakfast but i know that going into it and i am ok with it b/c it wont be long b/f she finds out that the world sometimes isn't all that magical so while she believes, i will believe! but that is just me...

I totally agree with you! Thank you for posting this. Isn't this actually what all the Character Dinings are about? In fact, I go to Disney to see my childs face. Sure I love Disney myself, but it is so much fun to see it thru the eyes of a child.

We had the exact opposite experience. We had a great time at CRT but our Norway breakfast(for DD's B-day) was terrible.

I don't think what other people have to say about it is "fluff". They are relating their experiences and if they are good ones that is what they tell. Personally I had a great experience at CRT and I'm happy to have been there. I do realize at the same time though that not everyone has that same experience.

I too had a horrible experience!! The food was undercooked and the characters were just so-so. Had heard good things about it and decided to give it a try. Maybe it is because I have a boy, but I felt as though they were rushing to get to the next table. My DS was 3 at the time. I guess it is like anything at WDW. There is good and bad in everything. Thankfully most of our dining experiences have been wonderful!!

I think any one with a little girl needs to do this once, just to be able to say you did. I agree somewhat with the OP. There was nothing extra special about CRT, my 6 year old daughter liked the Storybook breakfast in Norway much better. The fact that we ate in the castle went right over my daughters head. We didn't feel too rushed by the staff, but we were in a hurry to get done and down to Fantasyland. I think the huge drawback to CRT is it so interfers with getting onto the rides before the lines get crazy.

The food was so-so, but we are not too pickey there. I didn't go for the food. The princesses were nice enough and each did ask my daughter her name. However my daughter is shy, and only one (Cindy herself) took the time to try to draw her out and interact with her. At the Storybook they all did, and hey stayed and asked her questions and even waited for her to answer.

One hint for anyone going to either, don't be too fast to get that photo. As soon as I snapped a picture they were saying good-bye and moving on. I got smart and dragged my feet a little and that kept them at our table a bit longer.

I am going to weigh in with my opinion and agree with palmtreegirl, we had a GREAT experience at Cinderella's Royal Table and a ho-hum experience at the Princess StoryBook Breakfast in Norway. I guess it depends on the luck of the draw. That said, I would go back to both, just to see my DD5's eyes sparkle at the sight of her "heros" and to see my DS3's grin after getting a kiss from a princess! Not "fluff" at all, JMHO! :wave2:

I ate breakfest there for my 9th birthday and had a decent time. I loved the fairy godmother! The food wasn't bad, but the charecters did seem a little rushed. But overall it truley was a magical experiance, even more so if you have a little girl who loves the princesses! princess:

Just had to post that we had a GREAt experience at our breakfast last year. We had a party of 14 and had PLENTY of princess time! we were there to welcome some family members that were coming to our wedding later that week. The princesses spent so much time with DFI (now DH) and I and with the kids at our table.
The food was warm and YUMMMMMMY! we loved it! the service was GREAT!

We did get the wrong check, but it was for only 2 guests and not 14 haha so we were happy! the waitress was shocked and then apologized!

We got out CRT champagne glasses delivered to our table by Cinderella who wished us many years of happiness.

It was fabulous!

I totally agree. I have no complaints about the Princess dinner at GF. It was awesome!

This Halloween will be my 5th CRT breakfast...and I will be celebrating my 30th Birthday. It is now a tradition for me to have my B-Day Breakfast with the Princesses. I will say that sometimes the food is great, and sometimes it's so-so...sometimes the Princesses are rushed and sometimes they like talking a bit more. Overall for me it is the ambiance, the "dream come true" to be in the castle. Last year we were there for my Disney Wedding and the server found out and made a heart out of Mickey confetti and gave us the champagne glasses. The princess's gave me a signed B-Day card, and even my DH asked me if we were going there for breakfast this year! (he's learning!) So all in all I will say that its more about the experience then it is the food and how much it costs...I love watching all of the little faces light up when their favorite princess comes to see them!
