Neither for me. We just didn't have soda as an option growing up.

Same here! It wasn't a product my mother purchased, and it was a special SPECIAL treat if we ever got to have one.
I never developed a taste for soda pop, so I still don't drink it to this day, and I didn't want to encourage my kids to drink it so it wasn't on the regular rotation when I went grocery shopping -outside of holiday or special occasion.

I prefer Coke, but will drink other colas. I hate diet sodas because the fake sugars taste awful and make me feel sick (I accidentally had a diet Pepsi a couple months ago and felt like I was dying the rest of the afternoon).

Me too. We never had pop in the house and an Orange Crush shared with my DDad was a special treat on road trips. I almost never drink pop now and never, ever Coke or Pepsi.

Pretty much cut all soda out years ago now. I'll drink flavored seltzer waters, but otherwise, I pretty much just drink regular water.

Before that, we were a huge Diet Coke house. Not that we wouldn't drink Diet Pepsi or some other diet soda (Dr. Pepper or Root Beer), but Diet Coke was the staple. My wife would get the 44 oz. Big Gulp on her way to work in the morning and would probably consume 80 oz. during a given day. It took her a week or two of headaches to kick the caffeine, but hasn't really had a Diet Coke in like 5 or 6 years. She said if she had even a small drink, it would be like an alcoholic having a drink. She knows she'd not just have one, she'd have a 6 pack.

I don’t drink either as a Dr. Pepper fan, but when pressed I would say I prefer regular Coke or Diet Pepsi. Regular Pepsi doesn’t have as strong a flavor profile to me as regular Coke, but the opposite is true when it comes to the diet versions.

Can’t drink Pepsi or Coke. I can and do prefer Sprite over 7up or Starry. Special occasions eating out I’ll order a Shirley Temple. Otherwise, I maybe will have a mini Sprite Zero once a week. So long story short, Coca-Cola company for me.

Other - I don really drink soda that much anymore. I have had some gingerale lately but that was due to being nauseous post surgery.

Coke Zero is my go to now. I will drink Pepsi zero but not regular Pepsi. I will drink Diet pepsi. And for a treat sometimes I will drink Real Coke.

Diet Dr. Pepper is my choice. Given only Coke or Pepsi, Diet Pepsi all the way. but I'll take diet whatever. I'd rather not get the Zero products, though. And I can't say why.

Add cherry to the mix and it's a good day.

Fun story -- when I was an office manager at a financial services firm in Atlanta (when I was young and foolish), I got a great deal on a new vending machine for the office. A PEPSI vending machine. Apparently one doesn't have Pepsi vending machines in Atlanta in financial services office that offers Coca-Cola shares to its clients. It was removed within a week. Lesson learned.

I used to prefer Diet Coke, but recently tried Coke Zero and it’s great! I will do Diet Pepsi if that is what the restaurant has.

No coffee, no tea, no Coke - I’m a 100% Diet Pepsi addict! I drink DP first thing in the morning, last thing at night and all day in between. I even bring my own down to WDW. Every time I think of quitting (cause I know it’s not good for me at all) - it goes on sale and I’ll stock up…

No strong preference for me. I drink so few colas (usually at WDW) I just drink the regular, sugary stuff. I'm usually drinking water/coffee/iced tea at home.:)

I rarely drink either. I prefer coke zero to.mix with rum, but will do Pepsi max...I get whatever is on sale. But hardly ever.

It's Coke all day here - particularly Coke Zero. I will have Pepsi when there is no otehr choice, though I'd take Dr. Pepper or something first.

I'm a Pepsi girl.
To me Coke out of a can or 2 liter tastes like flat Pepsi. (Still has fizz unlike flat Pepsi but has the same taste as flat Pepsi)

Only way I think Coke tastes good is if its in a cold 20oz bottle OR the Coke Freestyle machines.

And to me any diet soda tastes disgusting.
Rather drink water than diet anything.

I am a Coke person.
When I taught AP Human Geography, I made my students take the NY Times dialect quiz. One of the questions was about what you called a soft drink!
DW is from Oregon and she has converted.
Interesting that Coke started in GA and Pepsi started in NC.
We live in SC and the state is split between the two options.
