Don't be a Drag, Just be a Queen June 3-18 (MORE PICS ADDED 6/25!)

That didn't work out very well, did it? :rotfl:

Let's see if the ADRs match up any better than the parks.

June 5 - Flying Fish (subject to change)
June 6 - No dinner plans!
June 7 - Yachtsman
June 8 - House of Blues (subject to change)
June 9 - Citrico's

Where are you guys? I am sure we can coordinate something!

I just saw this! Sorry! No luck with the ADR's either! :rotfl::laughing: We are staying at CSR this time! We're pretty excited because we thought we would be at a Value. But we got a great deal because our friend is a CM! Are there any other Dis-buds going at the same time as us? :goodvibes:goodvibes

Allegra -
There are a ton of DIS people coming in for Gay Days, but some of them are going home Sunday or Monday. A lot of them arrive around Memorial Day, but we have to wait for school to get out, which isn't until June 2.

I haven't heard from my UK friends to know if they are going to travel as planned or cancel.

Where are you guys going to be on June 6? Maybe we can plan to say hi before you head to dinner? We really have no plans that evening, so we can pencil in whatever works for you! :)

DS is becoming a huge shoe hound. I keep telling him NO MORE SHOES. So what did I buy for him today? Shoes.

His foot is the same size as mine, so I can actually try shoes on and judge pretty accurately if they will fit him. I found some Sperry-looking khaki canvas boat shoes on clearance for $10 today. If he doesn't like them I can take them back, but for $10...:rolleyes1

Of course DS likes the shoes.

He had a good day with his contacts. Now he just needs to get a little bit better at putting them in. I don't wear contacts, but I don't think it is supposed to be a 20 minute procedure to get them in every morning. I am confident he will master this skill with time and practice.

I remember when I first got my contacts, I was ready to throw in the towel. He'll get better at it in time.

As far as the wedding goes, I guess I'm lucky that it's a low budget wedding, but everything has gone over budget so far so I expect that trend to continue.

Maybe one day we'll be at Disney together again

Part of the problem is that he would rather putz around on FaceBook than put the contacts in. Then he runs out of time, gets all flustered, and shouts at ME because it is ALL MY FAULT! :headache: Once he gets them in he does well with them.

Weddings kind of take on a life of their own. Hopefully it will be a LONG time before I have to deal with one. Perhaps DS will elope!

I am sure our trips will overlap again eventually. DS has 3 years of high school left, then DH and I will (theoretically) be able to vacation without him! And since we plan to send him off to the WDW College Program we can all go visit him!

24 Days
17 School Days
16 Working Days

Every year I phone our pet sitter WAAAY in advance. And every year she waits until like 2 days before we leave to call me back. This ALWAYS happens. I KNOW this always happens, and it always works out JUST FINE. But it makes me fidgety. I suppose I should call her again. I would love to be able to just be Zen about it and wait for her to call, but I don't think I can do that.
Besides, since the sunglasses are mostly sorted out I don't have anything else to do. :rolleyes1

Oh, joy. DH just called to tell me his watch is ruined. Fabulous. I bought an extended service plan on it, but there is NO TELLING where all that paperwork is now. :headache: What are the chances it can be fixed before the trip for less than the cost of a whole new watch? :sad2:

DH was able to locate the box his watch came in, but NO paperwork. How did I KNOW that was going to happen? :headache: Crap. I phoned Macy's to see if they keep files of the purchases, but I am not terribly hopeful. A manager is supposed to call me back. Uh huh. Riiiiight.

I left yet another voice mail for our pet sitter. I don't like to be pushy, but the thing is, if I need to arrange for another sitter I kind of need to know now.

I sent an e-mail to our friends in the UK to see how they are doing after the loss of their dad. They are supposed to be at WDW on May 25, so their departure is coming up quickly if they are still planning to go. They had a special dinner planned for his birthday on June 1. :guilty: I don't know what I would do in that situation. Hopefully I will hear from them soon.

23 days 'til departure!
16 school days!
15 working days! :cool1:

No call back from Macy's or the pet sitter. :headache:

I looked for the paperwork on DH's watch and I couldn't find it. Looks like he will be taking a trip to the price-gouging repair place at the mall. Lovely.

In an effort to pass the time, I have been reading all sorts of threads here on the DIS. While my trip will include many things, there are also many things it will NOT include. Just so nobody is disappointed later on, let me be clear. This trip will absolutely NOT include any of the following:

~ I will not claim DS is under age 10 to get a cheaper ticket for him, even though he is small for his age.
~ I will not bring a Pop Century refillable mug from 5 years ago and attempt to use it at Mara.
~ I will not use Scotch tape to cover the wooden door of my resort room with laminated doo-dads. In fact, DVC by-laws specifically PROHIBIT altering the exterior appearance of any villa, which would include covering the door with art projects.
~ I will not put my 15 year old son in a stroller.
~ I will not pack gallon Ziploc bags of frozen taco meat and spaghetti sauce in my checked luggage and heat it up in an unattended Crock Pot in my resort room.
~ I will not bring my friends from other resorts to the concierge lounge at AKL so they can have access to "free" food and beverages. If they are not registered CL guests at AKL they DO NOT belong in the lounge!
~ Speaking of the lounge, I will wear clothes and shoes when I am in the lounge. I will not wear pajamas or a swimsuit.

So there you have it. If anyone was hoping to read accounts of those behaviors, this is not the trip report for you. Well, not if you were hoping for PERSONAL accounts of those behaviors. If I encounter people engaging in those behaviors it might warrant a mention. Maybe. Maybe not. :rolleyes1

Hi Jacks!

Oh Boy! Contacts! He is growing up! Now we need an updated picture with and w/o sunglasses. I am sure we will see plenty throughout your report!

Oh I hated seeing pajamas outside of the room anywhere!!!

I hope the watch and Pet sitter get resolved soon. Then you can worry about something else, right? :rotfl:

Hi, Candy! Hope all is well at your house!

He is getting better with the contacts! He had them in this morning with time to spare. That never happens, so I won't get my hopes up that it will be an ongoing trend. :rotfl: I'll see about some pics this weekend.

DH says the watch might be OK. It had condensation on the inside. I told him to take the back off and blow it with the hair dryer to see if that makes a difference. I did pop into Macy's briefly to see if I could find another one. We get back the day before Father's Day, so I could get him a new watch and give it to him early. We'll see what happens with the current watch over the next couple of days.

This is how the pet sitter rolls. I know that, but I get in a twist about it every year anyway.

My new thing to worry about is that our UK friends are definitely not going to be coming to WDW. :guilty: I am sad not to see them, and even more sad about the loss of their dad. Now I need to decide if I want to keep the ADRs we had planned with their family, or change them around. We were thinking about Epcot on our arrival day, but I have been considering going to AK to catch the parade instead. Then we will have dinner at Jiko before the cocktail meet at Victoria Falls.

I booked Jiko for June 3, so that worked out. We'll plan to go to AK after lunch to buy our APs and our TiW card, see the parade, putz around a bit, then head back to AKL.

No TS dinner on Sunday since I have no idea what we will feel like doing or what time we'll be finished at Epcot.

Moved the Flying Fish dinner from Sunday to Monday.

I need to book an ADR at HOB for June 8 since I was waffling between HOB and Jiko that night.

I still have NOTHING planned for June 13 after the fishing excursion. It ends at 9 AM, so we have the whole day to do SOMETHING.

DS would love to play mini golf. I need to figure out a day to do that. It seems like last year every time we thought about going it was pouring rain.

Yay! :yay: Just spoke to our pet sitter and we are all set!

I am trying to decide if we are going to get a PhotoPass CD this year. EVERY year I say we won't bother, then I cave in and order one anyway. The pics are never very good - crooked, blurry, overexposed, we are staring directly into the sun, etc. Yet somehow I always end up getting sucked into buying the CD. I KNOW we can cancel it if we don't like the photos. But I never cancel. :rolleyes2

22 days until departure!
15 school days!
14 working days! :woohoo:

I think I am finished tweaking my ADRs.

Not sure what else I could be working on. :confused3

I need a project. :rolleyes1

:rotfl2: When I read that!!! Does this mean that you are just too organized!?!?! I am so glad you got the pet sitter lined up. I think the watch for Father's day is a good idea!!

But if your really looking for a project.....Can you help me with my daughter's 8th grade graduation party?!?!?! :woohoo::yay::cheer2:

I am not very good at parties, but if you need my opinion I'm happy to put my two cents in!

I think I might actually have a project. :headache: I was reading a thread about cheap sunglasses vs. expensive ones, and a very important issue came up. Sunglasses need to block UV rays. The glasses we bought for DS may not have UV protection. I have read the website, the Nordstrom website, every press release, article, etc. and there is NO mention of these stupid glasses actually have ANY UV protection in them. NONE. The point was that tinted lenses will fool the eye into dilating, which will in turn allow even MORE sunlight into the eye. If those rays are not filtered out, YIKES! :scared1:

So I told DH and he threw a fit. He says I MUST take the sunglasses back IMMEDIATELY. Yes, fine, BUT DS has to have sunglasses. So we're back where we started. :sad2:

DS told me awhile ago that there is some 24 hour video project that the Film Club is participating in. It turns out it starts tomorrow night at midnight and runs through midnight Saturday. We have a fundraiser at the school tomorrow night. This means LOTS of driving around for me.

I already told him he is NOT staying up for 24 consecutive hours. He is a DEMON when he doesn't get enough sleep. And seeing how he will have to get up at 6:30 AM for school tomorrow morning, if I allowed him to stay up from midnight Friday to midnight Saturday he would actually be at like 42 hours of awake time. Not happening. He also has an eye Dr. appt. on Saturday morning, which means MORE shlepping around to get him to the appt. and back to the rest of his video team. Sigh.

At this point I am going to take the Nordstrom glasses back and hope that the eye Dr's office has some sunglasses that 1) fit his tiny face and 2) block the stupid UV rays! :crazy2:

I am formulating a plan for DH's watch. I am actually not very happy with Macy's. The woman who sold me the service plan told me it would cover ALL SORTS of things. Of course I can't find the paperwork. I was looking at new watches at Macy's and mentioned that I had the service plan on DH's current watch. For watches the service plan extends the manufacturer warranty. That's ALL it does! She said it would cover scratches on the crystal etc. etc. etc. Nope. It doesn't cover ANYTHING related to wear. It DOES cover battery replacement, but the watch has to be sent out for that! So, I basically added $20 or so to the cost of the watch for NOTHING! I have heard lots of stories of people being told extra service plans will cover accidental damage to things only to find out later that's not true. The thing is, the brochure clearly states the policy for watches. I HAD a copy of that brochure, so maybe the plan has changed since I bought it 2 years ago? Maybe it USED to cover accidental damage? Whatever. Not worth pursuing now.

I will be REALLY irritated if the world ends on May 21. I am putting a lot of effort into getting ready for this trip.

Never underestimate the power of FaceBook. I posted on the wall of the sunglass people and within a couple of hours they responded that the glasses have 100% UV protection. Crisis averted! Well, you know, this particular crisis.
