Don't be a Drag, Just be a Queen June 3-18 (MORE PICS ADDED 6/25!)

I got my money for tip envelopes. Apparently asking for $100 in ones was really confounding for the teller, because I was sitting in the drive-thru for almost 10 minutes. And no, the bank was NOT busy.

I also printed my Restaurant.com certificates. Which we may or may not use. The House of Blues one is $50 off $100 food purchase, so that one is a decent value. Shula's and bluezoo are only $25, so if we spend more than $125 we are better off with the TIW card. Seeing how we spend about $160-$180 on most signature dinners, I am thinking those certificates won't be very useful. I also have one for $25 at Kimono's if we spend $35. Yeah, no problem. DS and I really like sushi! Maybe we should try to fill up on sushi before we go to Shula's. :lmao:

My air travel PSA for the day:
ALWAYS travel with Clorox wipes. I always wipe down the tray tables, the armrests, the wall, the window, etc. And the wipe is always FILTHY afterwards. Planes are gross. Necessary, but gross.

I recently read an article that said people change their babies' diapers on the tray tables. :scared1: ARE THEY SERIOUS??? :scared: How disgusting is that? I bought a fresh pack of Clorox wipes today. Just for the plane.

Ewwwww.... YUCK!!!!! As a mom to 2 kids who traveled with them as infants and young toddlers in diapers, I have never changed a child on a tray table. If diaper changing was ever necessary midflight, while not an easy task, it was done so in the restroom on the small but sufficient changing table with not 1, but 2 changing pads (a disposable for the bottom and the comfy padded one for them to lay on)

We didn't fly with DS until he was 8. :rotfl2:

You know, people change babies on top of RESTAURANT TABLES at WDW, so I shouldn't be surprised that people change babies on the tray tables on the plane. :sad2:

And if they do things like that out in front of everybody, no telling what goes on in the hotel rooms. Which is why I wipe everything in the room with Clorox wipes, too. ;)

Elizabeth - when you do get ready to pack, will you put me in one of your suitcases? I'll be good, I promise!

Marti, that depends. If we really do go without the Shoe Bag my suitcase will be bursting at the seams (and likely over the weight limit). ;) How are you feeling?

DS has an eye exam today, and MAYBE he will get contacts! I know he would love to be able to NOT wear his glasses, especially on stage. The director asked him last year to try to perform without them, but he can't see well enough to be comfortable. We are going to a different office this year. The place we went last year only has one lady who does contact lens trainings, and her personality did not mesh well with DS's. That is why he spent another year in glasses.

My tip envelopes for Housekeeping, Turn Down, and Magical Express are done. Other tipped people don't get envelopes. That reminds me, though. I was going to do a special envelope for our 2 favorite servers. I'll have to come back to that later.

Doing the slacker version of Star Wars got me thinking. We are doing the slacker version of a lot of things. :lmao:

The only days we are wearing matching shirts are the Saturday and Sunday of Gay Days. They are shirts I bought - not shirts I lovingly designed and ironed the designs on by hand. (I am about the least domestic person EVER. The year we did have custom shirts I had them done at the mall.)

We are not doing character autographs.

We have some pins in the Owner's Locker but we aren't really planning to do any trading. The bloom is off that rose because 1) it is a huge time suck and 2) too many counterfeits.

We have an inside joke with some friends about bringing a giraffe to the hotel. It just so happens that I have a Beanie Baby giraffe. I have dubbed him "Jambo". We might have a photo series featuring Jambo. Of course staying at AKL, a giraffe is not that obscure. But it does give us a different angle for this trip.

Day 1 of contact lenses was a success! :woohoo: We go back next Saturday for a re-check to be sure he is still comfortable and there are no problems. I really hope this works for DS. I told him we will go tomorrow and buy him some sunglasses, since the only ones he has are prescription.

The sunglass thing is going to get out of hand. I can already tell.

DH wanted sunglasses a couple of weeks ago. He bought 2 pairs, brought them home, thought it over, took one pair back. I wanted him to keep them, because he wears sunglasses every day. He says one pair (plus his old ones) will be fine. But I bet he would like to have another pair.

I hate sunglasses. I have 3 pairs. I never wear them. I have kind of started wearing one pair, but I don't love them. I bought 3 cheap pairs the other day. I don't love those, either, so I am returning 2 of them. We went to Rack yesterday and I bought another pair. They are OK, but I bet I can find some I like better. :rolleyes1

And, as previously mentioned, now DS needs sunglasses. That will be a huge challenge because he has a tiny face. Most men's sunglasses are going to be huge on him. AND it is Sunday, so the mall doesn't open until noon. Sigh.

PSA for today:

Disney gift cards have a 16 digit serial number on the back. If the card is lost or stolen you must have the entire number. The register receipt does not print the whole number!

The back of the card also states if it is lost or stolen you must have not only the entire serial number, you must ALSO have proof of purchase. I wrote the serial numbers in my planning notebook, but it seems that I will also have to bring the register receipts.

I have one gift card that we'll use for our APs and TIW card, so that will be wiped out with one stop at Guest Relations. I have another gift card that I carry around to make CS and snack cart purchases, so that one could potentially get lost. Not that there would be any money left on it by the time I called with all the info, but at least I'll HAVE the info if I lose the card.

Hi!!!!! Im here! I really havent been here in awhile!
Anyway - good tip about the gift cards. I think I will just make phoptcopies of the card and reciepts just as a back up.

After more than 2 hours looking for sunglasses we managed to find ONE pair. DS takes them out to show DH, and DH proclaims "Those are crooked." :headache::mad:

I now have 4 pairs of sunglasses to return (3 of them are mine), and DS has NONE that will work. Unless I go back and get the $100 Ray Bans. I knew this was going to be a debacle.

I pulled out my old Ray Bans that I bought back in 1988 when I was trying to get the sunglass guy to ask me out. Not only did he NOT ask me out, the glasses look ridiculous on DS. :sad2:

DS tried on DH's old Oakleys. They are HUGE.

The fact is, DS needs CHILDREN'S sunglasses. This makes him extremely angry and uncooperative. And it makes me tired. So tired that I thnk I am done worrying about it for today. Maybe he can find some at the optical place when we go next week to have the contacts checked.

Hey there! :)
Copies. Yes, that would work, too! ;)
I mean really, if I lose the card I am SURE whoever finds it will have it zeroed out in seconds flat. But it's worth it to bring the proof of purchase.

It turns out DS made a dinner reservation for us at PF Chang's for Mother's Day. Since we were back at the mall, we returned the crooked glasses and bought him a pair from the men's section. They are a little too big, but you know what? It is what it is.

I am not a fan of sunglass shopping either. They usually just make for a pretty headband for me since that is where they are most of the time at Disney (too hard to take pics with sunglasses for me)

That's where mine typically are, too. In fact, that's where they are RIGHT NOW! :rotfl2:

But the ones I bought over the weekend are more delicate with wire frames and the little plastic nose piece, so if I shove them up on my head they will get tangled in my hair. It's always something...

DS wore contacts to school today. I am anxious to see how it goes!

Hi :goodvibes

I guess I'll have to live vicariously through others trip reports until November, this wedding is destroying my wallet. :rotfl:

I hope you have a wonderful time, I'll be reading along

We will miss seeing you at WDW! DS will only ride ToT for you. And when you are there it means I don't have to ride Splash. ;) Obviously he is old enough to go on Splash by himself, but it's more fun to ride with someone. So I am sure I'll get roped into it.

I am dreading the expenses coming our way for college and wedding and whatever. For now I will just stick my head in the sand. :rolleyes1

I know your DD's wedding will be beautiful! Can't wait to see pics! :goodvibes
