Donald's Defiant Dashers (AKA Triple D's/Duckies/The Ducks) Dashing into 2010

I guess 2 miles on the dreadmill is better than 0 miles on the couch!

Hey, who on here has Facebook? Would love to add some of you to my Friends list (and so I can see what y'all really look like). LOL!

If you want a new FB Friend and don't want to post a link to your profile on here, PM me! I will "accept" your requests! LOL!

For anyone who isn't on my facebook already, feel free to add me:

I just made a friend request, so when you see one from Laura, you'll know I'm from the DIS! LOL! Now, I have a few WISH friends on FB, too. How fun! :)

After you get a few DIS/WISH folks, you'll notice that several more start to appear in the friend suggestions, then you'll have lots! :)

I just ran for 20 minutes straight!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I was really surprised that I could do it. I'm so glad to have that over with and hopefully it'll help build my confidence.

Happy Tuesday, Ducks! :goodvibes

Hey Ducks! Happy March! I'm very glad it's March. :sunny: Although we may get some snow today. lol

My hip is still bothering me. Last night I found that it was uncomfortable to sleep. I couldn't get in a position that didn't feel like I was putting strain on it. It doesn't hurt constantly, or sharp like last week. It's just annoying. I did a search and it may be my IT band. Or another thing it could be is bursitis. I really don't want to go to the doctor for this, unless it goes on and on... I'll give it more time.

I've had a cold coming on for a few days now, it's one of those very gradual ones.

Carissa~WTG on the 20 minutes!! WooHoo!! :cool1:

We might get some snow tomorrow. :sad2: After it was sunny and 53 yesterday.

Sorry to hear your hip is still bothering you and you're starting a cold. Ick. I read about a great stretch for the IT band in the last book I read. You all probably already know about it, but it's where you hold onto a pole or something sturdy, put your ankle on your thigh like you're crossing your legs when you sit, and then sit back a bit like a squat. I've been trying to do that one after my runs because I've heard of so many people have problems with their IT band.

Thanks, yeah, I do lots of different stretches after my runs. I love to stretch, feels so good!

It's snowing out now... tiny flurries.

carissa, congrats on the 20 minutes! i remember that week and i thought i'd never make it through. way to go!!!

liz, i hope you get some relief. and don't hurt yourself!

snow flurries? they say we might see some, but it will mostly be rain. i am ready for spring. it's normally warmer here this time of year. i don't mind snow. but i cannot stand all of the grey weather. it depresses me! lol

Carissa, Great job, also have you seen this 5K at Mt Trashmore yet http://www.meetup.com/HamptonRoadsRunners/calendar/10636763/ .

Liz, sorry your still down and out.

As for me I went to the doc this morning and she said I have a pulled, sprained, damaged (can't remember the term she used) IT band. pretty much told me to take it easy the next few days and I have some physical appointments and we will see how it goes. I asked her if I could still golf and run this weekend she said I could golf carefully, and walk fast/jog the 10K, but if I feel any serious pain stop immediately. This makes me very happy. I am starting to feel like a real slug for not doing any exercise over the past 4-5 days.

I have NOT seen that one listed anywhere! I wish I knew if my husband would be back in time as I'd love to do that one.

Sorry to hear about the IT band, but glad she's given you the go ahead to golf and jog the 10K. :thumbsup2

I am sorry to hear of all these injuries. I hope everyone heals up quick. I had to do a google on IT band, had no idea what it was. At least you are able to get out a bit Dan, even for golf;)

1. The okay news: My running mileage total for February was 44 miles. Not bad for a week in WDW and a week of slugging around/doing nothing after returning from WDW in the month.

2. The bad news: I wiped out (AGAIN!) while curling on Sunday night. This time I tipped over the small 2-by-2 slat of wood that separates the curling ice sheets near the end of the ice. Landed right on my knees. They look a bit bruised. It hurts to go up or down stairs. I'm kinda upset over this one. I really don't need any more knee damage. I'm taking it easy for a few days before hitting the treadmill again.

3. The good news (1): Rumor has it that the temperature here might get to 8 degC (46 degF) this weekend. Do I smell an outside run soon?!?

4. The good news(2): I was able to snag a DVC reservation for a 1 BR at the BWV for 1-9 October at 7 months out. :woohoo: That means we can walk back to our resort after the Wine and Dine 1/2 Marathon. We'll be at BLT from 25 September to 1 October, then move over to the BWV. I thought this would be an impossible reservation to get at 7 months, since this will be the first week of the F&W Festival.

Hope the wonky Ducks here get to healing and feeling better soon!

Renee,

Ow that sounds like it hurts. That is the exact reason I try to stay away from ice. I am clumsy enough on a non-slippery surface. Feel better soon.

I signed up my family for the race for the cure 5K in Richmond, VA. If anyone is around this area on 8 May I formed a team and would love to have you join us. We signed up for the non-competitive race, wanted to give my kids a chance to enjoy the race and see what it was like.

Cool! I've thought about doing the one here in VA Beach in October, but the Wicked 10K is right around the same time and I'm not sure I want to do two races so close together.

Emily~ Yeah, it really should be warmer right now around here!! Hopefully the warm weather will come soon and stay!

Dan~ I hope the knee is continuing to improve. That's great you can do your golf and 10K!

Augie~ I wish I didn't know what an IT band is! :sad2:

Renee~ Ahhh! Another curling incident! I hope your poor knees are healing up!
Congrats on the DVC reservation, woohoo!! That's a nice long trip, how wonderful!

As for me...nothing exciting to report. I am still sick with this cold. My hip thingy is better pretty much, just a twinge now and then. No running this week, I am so tired.

It was another not so nice morning with a bit of precipitation, so I drove to work today. But at lunch time I went out to run, I think I did about 4 miles. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice, so it will be back on the bike.

Liz and Dan, hope your soreness' clear up soon.

Renee, sorry about the knee. Sounds like curling is more dangerous than it appears? Congrats on getting BW, I will be staying there in October also, there was no problem getting the room when i called, I think that was a bit less than two weeks ago. I just tried to get BLT for a May trip but nothing yet.

Hope everyone has a good day!

:goodvibesI hope everyone's injuries heal quickly!

It's absolutely gorgeous here (finally), hit 60 for the first time in a very long time, and to top it off it's sunny. :goodvibes

I've been enjoying getting outside for my runs/walks with the sun on my face. It feels so much better than the dreadmill.
I've started a new kickboxing class twice a week and in addition will be starting a new Zumba class next week. Wahoo, I love classes!

Beautiful day out today. Spent the afternoon at the golf course and ended up winning our division. I didn't think we had a chance and left as soon as we were done and got a phone call an hour later saying we had won. Not bad since we had not really played since the end of last summer. Guess that means I have to add golf to my already busy schedule for the spring. The knee held up pretty good a little sore towards the end. I have the Fort Eustiss 10K in the morning and will post an update tomorrow once I am done. Went out and bought some KT tape to try out and will see if that helps at all.

SamSam please let me know how you like the zumba class. I have thought about trying it at my gym, but wasn't to sure about it.

Glad to see everyone is getting out and enjoying some of this nice weather all over the country.
