Donald's Defiant Dashers (AKA Triple D's/Duckies/The Ducks) Dashing into 2010

You mean the running stores, right? If so, I wonder that too.

I should have added in my previous post that my current shoes are not the ones I used to do the entire C25K program, or any of the times after that when I used the treadmill. I had another pair that I also bought last year that were my "treadmill only shoes". They were New Balance. They are the ones that I actually tore my Achilles in, and after that happened I never ran in them again.

My current shoes though have about 210 miles on them.

Ahhhhhh. When we first were talking about running back in email I thought you had used the same pair throughout this entire time. Gotcha.

I have to throw my two cents in here. I was always a little leery about going to a running store, because I thought the same thing about what they might know that I didn't, but I have to say they put me in the best set of shoes I have ever had. They watched m run and listened to what I had to say. I think I tried on 10 different pairs of shoes that day. Highly recommend the running store or if you are in the Norfolk area Running etc. I should get paid for that little plug.:rolleyes1

Thanks everyone for he well wishes on the knee, it feels a little better today, but definitely not running worthy. I am not happy about it, but I will take it easy through the weekend. Will focus on upper body and maybe depending on how I feel maybe some eliptical work on Sunday. Hopefully I can get this injury out of the way and not have it bother me as I get closer to Disney.

What is the name of the store? Running etc.??

So that means you won't be able to do the 10K this weekend?

So I was just reading my running stores website, I don't think I'd ever visited their website before. Anyway, they have on their homepage a little video about their "Personal Fit" process:
http://www.charlotterunning.com/

They have you run on a treadmill and also stand on another thingy. Should be interesting. All of this talking to you guys about this has me wanting to go there NOW! :) It'll have to wait a bit though, hopefully in March I can get there.

They also had a $10 off coupon or 5% off if I bring in my most recent race number or my old pair of shoes. Oh and they also say they will match competitor's coupon or sale prices. yay.

I'll feel kinda self-conscious having them closely watch me run! I better make sure my feet are nice and pretty that day too.

:rotfl: I'm sure you'll have socks on. ;) I'd feel more comfortable if it was a woman helping me. I'll have to scope out the store and see who is working when I go. :lmao:

Well I don't know if they'd want me to take them off for that standing on that foot-reader thingy. My feet are definitely in no state to be seen yet! They are in winter mode!

And yeah, I'm with ya, I'd rather have a woman too.

You guys are killing me with your foot stuff...

Carissa,

The store is called Running Etc. http://runningetc.com/ I go to the one in Norfolk, but they have a location in VB also. The day I went, most of the staff was female if that makes you feel better and they had people walking on the treadmill also.

:rotfl: I was just thinking, "I bet the men don't worry about how their feet look." I admit to being very vain about my feet.

That's awesome that they have a location in VB too. Thanks!

I have not been to a running store yet, but I plan on it. People at work that are more serious about running than I all recomend it. I think the fitting and observation will be worth it.

I think the snow has finally stopped here.

Rich, I hope I will be ready for Goofy in 2012!

Speaking of curling:

At first I thought they were balancing real ones on their heads!

Liz,

Now that would be talent!!!!

Augie,

You can keep the snow up north with you. Hopefully it will be gone by the time I get ready to come up to NYC next month.

Oh, hey Dan, is the 10K "next weekend" you mentioned the IWISH one or is there another one you're doing?

I have a Ft Eustis 10K next Saturday (6 March), I am hoping to be healed by that time or at least enough to jog it. This knee thing couldn't have come at a worse time I have a golf tournament next Friday also. :furious:

Ooooh, ok, I had it listed wrong on the list. You need to tell me when I screw up!

I'm sorry you've got the golf tournament too. Ugh. :( Do you think you really tore something in there?

Sorry I have very poor attention to detail :rolleyes1 I am crossing my fingers it is just a sprain, but the longer it goes on the more worried I get. If it still hurts on Monday I will have to go in and get it imaged. The drugs the doc gave me are not all that great either:confused:
