Donald's Defiant Dashers (AKA Triple D's/Duckies/The Ducks) Dashing into 2010

Hi!
Maura just sent me over here to join Donald's Defiant Dashers - I hope that's O.K. :lovestruc

I'm registered for the 2011 Marathon, but the most I've ever done is a 10k & I'm VERY rusty at running.

Karin

Welcome Karin :wave2:, I am fairly new here also, I think maybe about a month now, but the folks here are OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!

Hey everyone. I haven't posted in ages, but thought I'd drop by so my name didn't get kicked off the team list. :) I'm so bad at posting, sorry. Welcome to any new members.

I am also on Facebook...actually I'm nearly always on there. :)I think this link will get you there. Just make sure you mention that you're part of the DIS, please. :)

As for running, I've been pretty steady on the treadmill, but can't wait until it is warm enough to go outside. :)

Welcome to the team Karin we are happy to have you  Congrats on signing up for the marathon - you have plenty of time to get un-rusty

Well i haven't gotten into the thread very far, but I was "assigned" to this group.
I am so excited to get back into shape. My hopes are to do the princess 1/2 next year. I need to lose about 60lbs along the way. So far I'm doing about 2 miles between the eliptical and treadmill 3-4 times a week, but hopefully when the weather gets nicer, I can get back outside and get my distance up. I despice with a passion walking inside. So far I'm doing nothing but walking, but at a 3.2 speed. Hopefully I will be jogging soon!

Hello Jessica :wave2: ,

Don't think we have met yet. I agree I am so glad it is so nice to enjoy an outside run without bundling up.

So glad to have you part of the Triple D's...it's a great group!
I'm a walker, but like you, I much prefer to put in my miles outside, rather than the treadmill.

Welcome to the Triple D's Karin and Leanne!! :thumbsup2 :donald:

Dan~ My dh spends lots of time in hotels with his job too...he loves coming home. :goodvibes
Congrats again on your 10K, your results are great!

Tricia~ I'm sorry about your dh! :( Best wishes to him.
Yes, Deb was the only one who did the Princess. She will have to give us all the full report when she gets home!

Sharon~ Your classes sound like such fun! I really want to take classes once I have all the kids in school.

Karin~ Good luck training for the 2011 Full! Keep us posted on things.

Jessica~ I friended you on FB.
I hope warm weather reaches you soon so you can run outside!

Leanne~ Good luck with your weight loss and working towards the 2011 Princess! You can do it!! I am not a treadmill fan either....

As for me~ No running to report, still. :sad2: At this point my next run will be this weekend for the IWISH race. It's very frustrating not being able to run, but such are the circumstances of my life right now. I know it'll get better, especially with spring around the corner (hopefully much less sickness going around!!)

Hello and welcome to our two newest ducks! :cool1:

I'm just reporting in to say that it was my turn to have one of those weeks. Have not felt 100% (women issues :rolleyes1 ) and had two migraines. I haven't been on the treadmill since Saturday. And I have family arriving today and they're going to be in town until next Friday. I am going to try and get back on track while they're here. But, if you don't hear from me until then, you'll know why.

Karin and Leanne...Laura posted this survey for us to fill out and get to know each other better. (We started filling it out on page 5 if you want to read through them.) Fill it out if you want to! :)

Yes, I will! Part of me starts to panic a bit when I think that I haven't done anything in so many days. But, I know that I will get back on track. In the past, I would have let this derail me and just stopped all together. Not anymore.

It's nice to get to know you! You've done some neat stuff.

I'll add your races to our upcoming race list, found in post #2: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=35100809&postcount=2

Is the Pitman 4 Miler on the 4th of July?

 Thanks so much for the warm welcome everyone!

Yes, Liz, the Pitman Race is on the Fourth of July - sorry I wasn't clear about that! (and it's always hot as NUTS!)

It was raining this morning so I jumped on the elliptical for 45 minutes or 5 miles. Totally did not enjoy it in the least little bit.

Liz Can you put e down for the Marine Corps Historic half on May 18. These races are like crack you start one and you just want to keep on doing them. This is the last one I am going to sign up for though. The wife is not liking the added cost that they are bringing on :scared1:

Karin What are you working on your doctorate for? I can relate I am currently working on my Masters in secondary education along with working full time, running, and spending time with my family. It is a lot to take in at times, but I have decided that I have taken multi-tasking to a whole new level

Carissa,

Hang in there. I was feeling the same way the last two weeks when I was out and could not exercise. Getting back in this week was a real challenge. I made every excuse under the sun on Monday and then finally took the step on Tuesday. Be strong and don't make us come down there :lmao:

welcome to our newest members! i will say that i am still somewhat new and this group has been very welcoming!!!
