Happy Saturday Ducks! How's everyone doing? I can't believe we're halfway through July already.
Besides when being away for the 4th of July messed up my workout plan a little bit, I've been doing well sticking with three days of running and two of biking. I had made a 16 week training plan for Wine&Dine. So, 5 weeks done, 11 to go! My "long" run was 4 miles this week and will be next week as well.
Carissa~MMMM, that cake!
Savannah~Way to go on the 5K! You've got a Disney trip coming up soon huh? You must be so excited!
Jeni~Congrats on your neighborhood 10K! That's wonderful the inhaler has made such a difference for you.
Augie~Wow, those do sound like some huge trophies!
Sorry you had to miss those races, but sounds like it was a good trip.
Joe~You and Debbie are going to have such fun in Disneyland!
Laura~That's interesting that your 5 mile time was about the same with and without walk breaks. What kind of run/walk do you do? I've done run 1 mile/walk 1 minute, run half mile/walk 1 minute, run 5 min/walk 1 min. I'm only up to 4 miles with my W&D training but so far I run nonstop. I'm thinking I'll run my 5 milers nonstop, but then switch to run/walk for my 6+ runs. We'll see though. My big thing is preventing darn injuries!
Karin~Of course you're still a Duck! Everyone on the list is whether they like it or not!
I'm glad you're doing better! A 9:49 pace for 5 miles would be fast for me. So I think that's great!

Who would throw donuts at a runner at 4:45 in the morning?!?
So now I'm lifting weights and working on core two days a week before work, while running four days, and taking one day off for rest every week. So far so good.
). Since I finished ahead of the group, I kept running along the beach/boardwalk and got in a 7 mile run on Saturday. Then a handful of us went running 5 miles on Sunday morning, so I had a good weekend. I'm feeling like I'm coming down with a cold now. Hopefully, it's just airplane "junk", but we'll see.

We're slated for 100 tomorrow too - I'm gonna see what the early AM temp is.
I think it has alot to do with my kids being out of school and we have been doing some traveling in the past month. Just got out of my groove. BUT I got back on the treadmill this week (it is just too darn hot and humid to run outside)! I am in awe of those of you who do

Then I ran 4 miles on Saturday. In the last tenth of a mile, I felt my calf seize up on me. And it's been sore ever since. I ran slow this past Tuesday and Thursday and it felt...okay. But I can still tell something is going on. It's been over a week now and it's still not "normal". It feels tightest right at the top of the Achilles where it attaches to the calf muscle. I've rolled it and stretched it. I still have dull ache. It's just not...right. I haven't run for three days (I HATE "giving" away a full weekend to no running!).
