I'd be the first to criticize a Trump if it was warranted.

This isn't one of those situations.

They hunted and the villagers got enough meat to feed the whole village. I fail to see a problem with what they did.

My DH (who OP would probably also call a "moron" since he hunts and fishes ~ oh and we have elk and mule deer antlers on our walls) stocks our freezer with fish and meat that feeds us for a year or more.

There is a serious disconnect in this country about where food comes from.

I guess "hunting" is okay when you can go to the grocery store and pick up a package of meat someone else killed.

well I will consider it a trophy when it is a fair fight. If the animals could use guns too. but not wanting to get into the hunting debate.

hunting to eat the meat is one thing, but hunting just to kill and have a "trophy" is quite another in my book.

Not a single person here has said trophy hunting and discarding the meat is okay. That's not what Trump did. Trophy hunting is not the same has hunting, using the meat/tans etc and keeping a trophy. Trophy hunting would be more like being a poacher and killing the elephant for its tusks, and leaving the rest to rot. Again, not what happened.

I didn't say that people who hunted are morons. I said that the Trump boys were morons for taking the pictures that they did and posing with the animals that they killed posing all "proud" of their accomplishments in a "look what I did!" fashion.

The posy photos are what my main post was about. I will always disagree with hunting. That is not what I'm arguing though as I knew there would be many opinions about that! I guess I'm just surprised that there are many people that are ok with seeing these pictures.

Every single hunter I know (and that's A LOT of people) "poses" with their kill (deer, elk, turkey, bear, fish, etc).

Typically, there is little to no suffering for an animal shot. Most drop dead in their tracks.

Compared to starving a dog to making it vicious enough to rip another dog to shreds little by little.

I have spent quite a bit of time in Africa and yes, I have eaten crocodile while I was there and seen elephant eaten in villages. While the photos did turn my stomach, the food will be eaten and I'm not sure I see anything morally wrong with what these men have done, though goodness knows I'm far from a Trump fan!

In our country and our culture, we don't usually attack these animals. I guess that's why it's rubbing me the wrong way and why I'm having such a problem with it. You don't need to showboat. That's arrogance. Holding up the tail of an already dead animal is unnecessary. And the other pictures, when they have the hat and guns on the water buffalo while sitting on it, that's just wrong. I know that they paid money to kill the animals and a lot of the meat went to hungry villagers, but it still doesn't make it right that they posted pictures of their "trophies"

True, but not just for domestic hunters, when I googled hunting elephants after seeing this thread I saw a few websites where these big game hunter pictures are posted, and they looked exactly like the ones the Trumps are in.
I don't see these pics, or any hunting pics any different than someone posing with a trophy the won, or a medal or certificate they received. Are they all morons? Just because one doesn't agree with the subject matter, doesn't make them wrong

Or the animals are even tied so they can't get away as in the nasty case where the country singer shot the bear. No way does a "hunt" like those take the skill that many other accomplishments do.

No there is no "except", finding something distasteful is the same as disagreeing with the subject matter, and as said in my pp, that doesn't make it wrong.

Do you have experience hunting these animals? What is an almost tame animal in the wild? Were the Trumps led to animals that were tied up? What does any of that have to do with pictures?
