Has anyone booked either of these resorts using the "up to 50% off rack rate" and if you got it, what was the final rate per night? I'm thinking of joining, but would like to know this info in advance.

Thanks!!! :smooth:

I had planned to do this and I called and checked the website and was quoted $179 per night for a standard room with the Entertainment rate for 5 nights over Memorial Day weekend. I thought that was pretty good, but then I logged onto Travelocity and was able to get the Swan for $162.50 per night for 5 nights. A great rate and the entertainment club is not required.

BTW: About 10 days after I booked on Travelocity, a large envelope arrived for me in the mail - inside, courtesy of Travelocity, was a "thank you" package full of maps and information about Orlando, including a discount card good at many restaurants and attractions (including Universal). I thought that was really nice.

Good luck.

We booked the Dolphin using the Entertainment discount a month ago. We will be staying there in June, in a Jr. suite with six of us. And received a rate of 292.50 per night. This was a better deal than having to book two rooms, and the only other place anywhere close to Disney is the Double tree. so we used the card which gave us 1/2 off the rack rate. Anyway the book has helped us out in this respect and my wife has already found several other ocasions to use it. (I don't know if this is good or bad) and the book has already paid for it's self. Not a bad deal!

Thanks for everyone's help!!! I ordered the Entertainment book since right now it's 1/2 off. I'd already gotten the Dolphin for 3 nites in early Dec. for $70/night thru Priceline, so if I can get another 3 nights at a decent rate, it'll definitely make it worthwhile!!

Thanks again!!! :smooth:

If your Priceline reservation is less than 30 days old you can go through pricelines customer service section on the website and add days to your original reservation. I got the $70 per night deal for 9 nights in April and decided I needed one more day yesterday and I was able to add that day for $111

Charles,

Really, you can do that? I’ve never heard of that, but I think I’ll give it a try. I only had the guts to bid on two nights in case I didn’t get the Swan/Dolphin. But I actually need three more nights. I was going to move to CSR, but if I can get the Swan for around the same price as CSR I might as well remain at the Swan. Thanks for the info!

Hi
The only restriction is that you can only add up to the # of days you originally bid for
Charles

Oh, darn. That would make it one night short! Thanks though.

I never would've known about adding extra nites if you hadn't posted. Got 3 additional nights @ $111/night so it averages out to a little over $100/night - I'll take that anyday!!!

You just made my day!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Charles & Barb, I got scared when I started to do this and they said that if they find a room they'll immediately charge your card. They do give you the option to back out after they show you what the price will be, don't they? Looks like the magic number will be $111, which is great. BUT, if they make the offer, that means Priceline has rooms available there. So I wonder if I should just put in another $69 bid instead. May be too risky! Decisions, decisions...

If you're going to add nights, go the route of adding on, NOT a new bid. With new bids, chances are slim for getting into the Swan or Dolphin, according to another thread on the subject.

Priceline will try to get you the same rate ($69) but if they can't, they'll come back and tell you that the rate wasn't available but would you pay $111/night instead. If, and only if you click the OK button, will your credit card get billed. You do have the option to decline.

But I look at it this way - 3 nights @ $70/night and 3 nights @ $111/night averages out to just a little over $100/night, so how can you go wrong??? :p

Someone who knows posted recently on one of the forums that there are no rooms for $69 left for priceline. If you bid $69, you are going to get the Hilton or Wyndam. If you check out BIDDINGFORTRAVEL.COM, you will see that since around Feb 27, no one has got the DOLPHIN or SWAN

Thanks so much Barb & Charles. I know, it's still a fantastic deal at $111 and I'll probably go ahead and do that. But unfortunately I'll still have to move for one night, unless I make a reservation for the last night directly with the Swan (and I still might have to change room three times since it would be three reservations). Charles, I've been trying to check biddingfortravel.com but that site is blocked at work and my home computer is acting up! I've been wondering how long it's been since a $69/70 bid has been accepted. So thanks so much for that info -- I definitely won't try to bid again. This was a fantastic tip about adding nights. It can really come in handy if you're scared to bid for all your nights in case you get a hotel you're not that thrilled about. If you don't like what you got you'll only have to spend half your trip there, and if you like it you can add to it! Do they talk about this over at biddingfortravel.com? I've never heard about it, but I haven't been over to that site for a while.

"Last of the lucky ones... Congrats! Was only a short term promotion with Priceline on certain dates that has now been curtailed (Modified this morning)"

This is SwanDolphin's post on 2/24/03 on this thread: http://disboards.com/showthread.php?threadid=333691

I would highly doubt you would have to change rooms twice. Once all of your ressie's are made, a call to the hotel directly should help you be assured of maintaining the same room for the duration of your stay, as long as you have booked the same type of room.

Do you have any other type of discount you are eligible for during the last night? Teacher rate, gov't/military, etc. Do they have an AP rate? (Not sure about that). Try DreamsUnlimited and see what they might have to suggest that you could use to cover that last evening. Even if you were paying $140 for one nite the average for the stay would be good and the time saved vs moving for one night would be well worth it

Thanks for the help jgates. I think they do have AP rates so I'll check that out. Part of me really wants to stay at CSR too since that's my favorite resort (don't know how much I'll like the Swan since I've never stayed there before). It'll just be me, and I'll pack light, so moving won't be too much of a hassle. The current plan on this trip is two nights with a friend in Tampa, one night at Universal (Wyndham, $25 from Priceline!!!), two nights at the Swan and three nights at CSR. Wow, that may be too much moving, even for me!
