I have learned that you can save money by booking the Dolphin Encounter directly with them rather than through the cruise line. Put "Dolphin Encounter" in your search engine and it will direct you to the web site.

Mr. Bill, this is true. You can also pick one of three types of interactions with the dolphins at three different prices. The site also has specific information regarding age restrictions etc. It also has had a "chat" icon where you can click and talk with a representative in real time about any question you may have. (I was able to talk with someone on a Saturday afternoon EST) In my experience, they also respond to the e-mail within 24 hours.
Have fun planning!
Kathy

Could you tell me if this was dolphinswims.com? Just wanted to make sure I had the right one--they showed a rate of $75 pp which was substantially less than what I've seen. What would you think about doing this excursion mid-December? Thanks!

Yes, the one near Nassau is:

http://www.dolphinswims.com/

You take a taxi from where you get off the ship to the Paradise Island pier. The going rate is $4 per person.

You can also take a boat from where you get off the ship for $6 each.

Email or call them early as they fill up quickly.

It took us about 2 1/2 to 3 hours from start to finish.
