Dolphin Advice

Could use some advice. We are staying at the Dolphin tje 3rd week of November with the Teacher rate, standard room. We are SPG Gold members and have enough points for CL upgrade. I understand (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that 5 days out, I can call SPG and see if I can get CL with the points. ( It was recommened I go through SPG for the upgrade as they charge 1,000 points and it seems the Dolphin has been charging from 1,200 to 1,500 for the same)

If I can and do, when will they notify the Dolphin that I have done this? I ask as once I know I have this, I want to contact the Dolphin (and my SPG account) to request a comp room upgrade.

Any suggestions/advice?

I'm a little curious as well....I am hopeful for a gold status upgrade, without using my points. I don't care to use the points, because that's what I have been saving them for....however, depending on the rate the Dolphin charges, I might not have enough.....
