My husband got a massage last night and was making small talk with the masseuse. She said that a lot of country-western famous people come in for massages. And, she said the WORST ONE EVER was DOLLY PARTON!

How disappointing! I don't really listen to Dolly Parton's music, but I loved her persona. . . all folksy and sweet. She seemed so charming!

Anyways, the masseuse said that Reba McIntyre comes in, and is very nice (although nobody can see her without her makeup), and some others, but that Dolly Parton is RUDE to everyone. . . the receptionist, the masseuse, etc. She stressed she's a complete DIVA, used the term "incredibly rude" and "nasty" and NEVER TIPS!

I was just a bit disappointed and thought I'd share it. Anyone else hear stories like this? Not just of Dolly. . .

Heavens, we hear good and bad things about celebrities all the time, ever glance at the tabloids in the supermaket. Gossip is gossip.

My mom worked at a hotel about 25 years ago. She was always meeting celebrities. She said that Cyndi Lauper and David Lee Roth were the two friendliest and both were just really nice people. Kenny Rogers was very rude to the hotel staff, and only left a 25 cent tip after dinner :confused3 She also witnessed Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley have a screaming match in the lobby, which ended after Christie flipped Billy off and stormed out the door!

I was asking a Tiffany Town Car driver about celebrities he had driven. He said the nicest and funniest person he ever drove was Bob Dole. He drove him for several days and said he was so different that what you see on TV. Another good guy was Steven Spielberg. He drove him for several days.

The worse person he said he drove was Roseanne. He said she is crude and nasty. No big surprise I guess.

Poor Dolly!!!

She has to carry around those big bazoombas & her back hurts. Give her a break. :)

I grew up not far from Dolly Parton...

I have NEVER ever heard any such thing.
Quite the opposit.
Everyone says that she is simply the nicest person that you could ever meet. Especially for a celebrity.

Either Dolly had a very bad day, or you simply can't believe everything you hear.

I do leave open the possibility that Dolly, due to other influences, could not be the person that she always has been. :confused3

I find it hard to believe but not impossible. I have never met her but I know she does great things for Sevier County and goes above and beyond to help her hometown which is more than alot of celebrities have done.

My husband used to work for Dollywood and has met with her several times. She was never DIVA like or rude to him or the people around him. She was a bit fiesty, IMO, but she's also fiesty when interviewed.
I'll judge her on his comments instead. :)

My Moma said, 'life is like a box of chocolates. Only believe half of what you see and nothing you hear'. :teeth:

DH and I met Dolly Pardon at one of her concert. She was nice enough to take the time to talk to us and autograph her pic. To us, she was the sweet persona she portrays on TV. :goodvibes

My late FIL was a fan of Dolly's. When he was in CCU, Dolly was in PF and DH asked someone at work to get an autographed photo of her for his dad's room. She signed it "Get well soon Charlie".

I'm sorry--but the masseuse shouldn't be talking about other people who come in for massages. Talk about generically--but naming names is a no no.

(though talking about them at all is a no-no...but during massages I do speak with my masseuse...they will say something generic about a prior client if it fits in the conversation...Oh I had another patient who ran the Disney Marathon as well...blah blah blah).

Count me in as another who has heard nothing but good things about her. I good friend spent an entire vacation next door to her in Hawaii and had nothing but good things to say. I also think we would have heard a lot more about her if this was true since she doesn't hide away from the public like some other celebs.

If my masseuse, hair dresser or anyone in that type of position told me "gossip" about another client, I'd wonder what they were telling people about me. :confused3

Time to look for another masseuse, I'd say.

Don't know about Dolly ... but can tell you that Bryan Adams isn't all that nice. I used to work at a radio station in promotions and we had a pre-concert party for 10 contest winners and it included a meet-and-greet w/Bryan Adams. Well, each contest winner was supposed to get an autograph and photo w/Bryan. He came into the party 20 mins. late, could only spend 5 mins. and took one group photo. I was so angry!!!! I spoke w/Bryan's manager and the manager apologized and said that even though it was supposed to go the way we wanted it to, Bryan decided he didn't want to do things that way and changed it. WTH!??! I mean, these are your fans and you agreed to this party from the get-go! So, I wound up getting free albums (yes -- albums!) from the manager and we gave those as a "make up" for the fiasco!!!!

I lost all respect for him and didn't even stick around for the concert!!!!

I agree. This is totally unprofessional. Sounds like she was trying to impress your DH.

Oh, I completely agree with you. . . that's the first thing I thought. But, I'm not a masseuse and was just completely surprised about Dolly Parton, in particular. Had she said that about just anyone else, I wouldn't have posted it. But Dolly seems so SWEET!

Hmmm, I wouldn't be surprised! I think my husband is very hot!

...or maybe just trying to impress him with "who she knows"...

The place I go actually performs medical treatments....and I do think I signed some HIPPAA paperwork when I went (but it has been so long).

I don't place them in the same field as a hair dresser.

These people are touching my body..and I don't care if I was a class-A witch....they have no right to identify myself and my behavior to others.

(I'm not a witch by the way ;)).

Celebrities are human and are allowed to have a bad day. I have worked with celebs for my entire career - some let fame get to their head and some don't.

I know personally I have had bad days (who hasn't) and not been as friendly to my hairdresser as I should have been. Good thing I'm not anyone famous or I would be on the cover of the STAR too. ;)
