On one of our park days the Magic Kingdom hours are showing:

Park Hours 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM
Special Ticketed Event 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM

With fireworks at:
Happily Ever After 10:00 PM

Does this mean that as guest with a regular ticket only I cannot stay to watch the fireworks? Will I be asked to leave the park at 10 because I don't have the special ticket?

You'll be able to watch the fireworks. If they were exclusive to the AH event they would start later.

The same thing happens at Epcot where fireworks begin at the same time EEH starts on most Mondays.

You'll be allowed to stay for fireworks, as well as any last-minute shopping on Main Street. The key piece to After Hours is the included snacks and access to attractions...you will not be able to get either without an AH ticket and will eventually be moved toward the exit of the park.
