Dolly Parton

Just curious, wouldn't the president have a personal driver along with his presidential limo. I can't believe that they would stick him in Joe's Luxury Limos at the drop of a hat?

yes, I was thinking the same thing. :confused3

But it is just as plausible as a masseuse claiming to massage Dolly Parton :goodvibes

:rotfl: Well, my DH carried her to her Hummer! :rotfl: It is hard to walk in a wet suit with spike high heels in the dirt so he happily volunteered to carry her! :teeth:

If the president was travelling he would need a limo to get from the airport to his destination. He wouldn't have his own limo accessible. Maybe that's what the poster was intending. I could be wrong.

In most limo's you have the option of putting the window up or down at your discretion. Not that I'm experienced in them, I think I've been in one a total of 2-3 times. :rotfl:

When the President travels, he does indeed bring his own limo on Air Force One. It's designed with safety features at the request of the Secret Service - bullet-proof glass, puncture-proof tires, etc.

Listen, trust me, I am NO fan of GWB but I find it hard to believe that Joe's Luxury Limos drove the president and was allowed to keep the glass down and chat with him. Wouldn't the president be somewhat busy in the back of the limo with world issues? I don't know but I hate to think that security is that lax. :confused3

::yes:: ::yes::

:lmao: :lmao: What if it came from your nail girl Duck ;)

My sister used to be a flight attendant on a private jet, I'll be discreet here and not mention who's jet. She always had wonderful stories to share with us, especially around the Cannes Film Festival, as they flew most of the celebs in and out.
Mick Jagger is very petite and still travels with Jerry Hall and Bianca, they are all good friends. Stories like that... but the most interesting one is that Carrie Fischer was an all out b-word. Asked for a Coke, all they had was Pepsi, she started screaming at them, insisted that someone get her a Coke. They're on a plane!!! What are they gonna do, parachute out?!? My sister actually said she was a, well I can't say it here, but it's the worst word you can call a woman. I can't believe my sister used THAT word, let alone about Carrie Fischer.
Oh, and Elton John and his partner flew on the plane, Elton was very tired and excused himself to the main bedroom and even used the shower but my selfish sister didn't even save me the bar of soap or any of his hair from the drain!!!!

And FYI, Pepsi shootin' thru the nose hurts!! :rotfl2:

Don't know about Dolly ... but can tell you that Bryan Adams isn't all that nice.

You are the second person I know who has had direct contact with him and said the same thing. A friend of mine who had worked at a fancy hotel several years ago told me that Bryan Adams was the most horribly rude celebrity guest he ever encountered.

On a happier note, a friend who worked for several years at the Ritz-Carlton in Atlanta said that David Bowie (my favorite  ) was one of the neatest and nicest celebrities who he ever encountered, and that he played some tunes down in the hotel bar one night.

That doesn't surprise me. I'm a big Star Wara fan and went to Star Wars Celebration II back in 2003 in Indianapolis. Carrie Fisher was scheduled to do a "meet & greet". The line was out the door for her....but then I found out that not only did you have to pay to meet her (ok fine, I'll give her that), but she also wasn't allowing any photos being taken. I opted out of the line...but had several friends who went to meet her and came out very disappointed. They all said she was giving off quite the attitude, especially when she spotted a camera in hand.

I was thinking the same thing. I have a hard time believing that the Secret Service would let the President use some random limo service. Wouldn't they have secured, bullet-proof cars for him?

Back to the original topic. Dolly herself says, in her autobiography, that sometimes she is short-tempered when she is having a bad day. Who isn't? That does not change my impression of her. I met her at Dollywood when I was a starry eyed 12 year old, and she was so sweet to me. I had just bought one of her CDs and she signed it for me and told me to have a nice vacation. I was floating on a cloud for the rest of the trip! :teeth:

I was asking a Tiffany Town Car driver about celebrities he had driven. He said the nicest and funniest person he ever drove was Bob Dole. He drove him for several days and said he was so different that what you see on TV.

I met Bob Dole years ago. He was so nice and kind, I was really impressed. I was helping out at a big time fundraiser (maybe $1000 a person 20 years ago), and he was the guest speaker. He made a special effort to meet and talk to all of us volunteers, and stayed around for people to take pictures. A class act, in my mind.

Can someone please tell me how, exactly, does Ms. Parton lay on her stomach for a massage?

There are 2 big holes on one end of the table.

My neighbor is a CEO of a large company, so he uses limos quite a bit.

On one trip (about an hour and a half), shortly after a presidential visit, the limo driver went on and on for the entire hour and a half about how rude and diva like President Bush was.

He said of all the famous people that he had ever squired, President Bush was by far the nastiest and rudest of all. He just couldn't get over the difference between the folksy public persona and the angry person that was in his limo.

And no, the neighbor didn't ask the limo driver if he was a left-wing democRAT.

I think the limo driver was full of bs.

The president driver is usually a secret service agent with years of defensive and offensive driving training. I also believe that they fly the presidents limo as it is one of those james bond bullet proof glass type vehicles or whatever. So says the discovery channel anyway.

Repeat of post #40. I did mention that nobody believed the limo driver :goodvibes

Hey, I didn't say anyone actually believed the driver.

But yes, it was a driver who supposedly drove the President from the airport to the meeting place.

And the neighbor is a CEO of a LARGE company - he doesn't use Joe's Limo Service.

Supposedly, the limo driver saw and heard the President berating his staff and basically acting like a petulant child throwing a temper tantrum.

But again, it is hard to believe that somebody with enough clearance to drive the head of state also would be so loose lipped.

But it is just as plausible as a masseuse claiming to massage Dolly Parton

Fair enough. :thumbsup2

Just fwiw, i think on the Discovery channel show, the presidents steward on Air Force one is a Major in the Army. Can you imagine?
