dollar thrifty or other?

can someone tell me about the rental car companies at MCO, dollar and thrifty especially, as they seem to have the best price right now for our January trip. Looking for Compact mostly, what kind of cars do they have? do they assign or do you pick? i have never been able to pick always had assigned but have only ever used AVIS. Which has better service? long wait lines etc.... info like that...

there is Advantage, Payless, E-Z, L&M

I got my parents a midsize on Advantage for $178 for a week.. everyone else wanted 3-400

We usually use Alamo for both price and convenience. They have a kiosk next to the line with touch screen; just print out receipt and walk to garage to choose your own vehicle.
If you're not using a coupon, you can check in online and skip the kiosk completely and go straight to the garage from baggage claim.

The one time we tried Dollar back in 2007, the line inside MCO was over 1 hr. long only to be given paperwork and sent to the garage where another small office is inside, wait in another line to get keys to an assigned car. Our minivan was filthy, old and had bleach stains in the trunk area. I never had such a nasty rental car in 15 visits to Orlando. I seriously would have requested another vehicle but I'd have to wait in line again and no way was that going to happen.
I've had good experiences with Budget and they don't charge for spouse to drive too. I always price them out but Alamo usually beats their price.

I have used Dollar, Thrifty, National and Alamo. I prefer either National or Alamo. I have always been happy with the cars that we got. You can get good rates by prepaying when you book. I check in online and walk right out to the garage and pick out the car that I want, within my car class. It's just a very easy process with no lines and no shuttles.
