Dole Whip is a Dish Best Served Cold. A Sept PTR- 10/2 - TR POSTED!

A FP for Maelstrom just seems so wrong, but when Soarin & TT aren't available what are you going to do???? ::yes::
You're so right, and also since Maelstrom will be gone soon, I wanted to make sure I got to ride (and it's not one I usually feel like waiting for!)

I'm glad you got your tickets to work and I definitely think you should add the 4th day at AK. Why the heck not?
The only thing holding me back is that there are some things Johnny wants to do in Orlando outside of Disney -- a go-kart track, some mini putt or something... but I wonder how he'd feel about dropping me off at WDW... :rolleyes1

Your trip is so close. Nice!
SOOO close. WAY too close! I'm not ready! :lmao:

Sorry about the thunderstorms on your day off. That is just SO wrong!
Ahh well, it's a long weekend and the forecast is gorgeous, so I won't complain!

I'm all caught up!

I've been away from DIS so long that I even missed your announcement that the trip was a go a month ago! Great to hear that you'll be making the trip!

Love your Germany pics! Saw a lot of them on FB but good to have some description to go along with it. And being a big fan of any candy that's gummy especially the ones sprinkled with sour, I think I would have left that gummy store with bags and bags of goodies. :thumbsup2

Hope you can snag a FP+ for the mine ride. I know I'll be obsessively and constantly checking my FP+ site to see if we can find Anna and Elsa FP+s for the next 59 days.

Just read your last TR and can't wait to read the next one! Always nice to see some fellow Canadians on the Dis! We will actually we there the same week as you! Hope you have a great time!

I'm all caught up!
Hi Dave! Welcome back!

I've been away from DIS so long that I even missed your announcement that the trip was a go a month ago! Great to hear that you'll be making the trip!
It was a bit up in the air for a while so it was nice to finally be able to say a definite yes!

Love your Germany pics! Saw a lot of them on FB but good to have some description to go along with it. And being a big fan of any candy that's gummy especially the ones sprinkled with sour, I think I would have left that gummy store with bags and bags of goodies. :thumbsup2
I really need to get moving with Germany. I have some spare time this morning, maybe I'll write it all out to have it ready. Ohhh that gummy store was just one big room of temptation!

Hope you can snag a FP+ for the mine ride. I know I'll be obsessively and constantly checking my FP+ site to see if we can find Anna and Elsa FP+s for the next 59 days.
Ahh so far no luck for me. Hoping you get your A&E!

Forecast is gorgeous is it? I see rain!
Uhh did you sleep through Saturday and Sunday???

Just read your last TR and can't wait to read the next one! Always nice to see some fellow Canadians on the Dis! We will actually we there the same week as you! Hope you have a great time!
Awesome! Are you staying on site? Off site? Hope you have a great one too!
Also, yay for Canadians! Ottawa, eh? My best friend moved to Ottawa... probably 5 years ago now I guess. I visited her last year. If I ever had to move out of my little corner of paradise, I would probably land there.

Hello all!

Not much trip news today. 17 more days to go!! Still no luck on the 7DMT FP+ but I'm still checking.

I'm going to run through the rest of Germany because my trip is very close and I want to get everything tidied up before I go!

Day 4 - Würzburg, Stuttgart
July 17

We packed a bag and set out on our road trip. First stop, Würzburg!

It was a very nice, busy city and we got lost so we saw a good bit of it. :rotfl:

10394031_10152311504927989_1371692589688225909_n.jpg

We took a little tour of the castle there, but were not allowed any photos inside.

(I am getting these from Facebook and I don't know if it's that or my monitor making these all look blurry! Yuck!)

The castle was really beautiful and I so wish we could have taken pictures inside.

Next we kept moving to Stuttgart. We checked in at a Best Western, VERY quickly got showered and changed and headed to the theatre. We saw Disney's Tarzan!

10446595_10152295490467989_8250632522092346809_n.jpg

No pictures during the performance, but it was incredible. Really amazing performances and loved the costumes and the way they swung on the "vines" and everything. Look up some You Tube videos! I didn't even mind that the whole thing was in German!

The next morning we got up and moving again. Our next stop was Schloss Neuschwanstein! I've been there a few times, but it's so gorgeous. We didn't go inside because the line for the tickets was too long, so we hiked up a crazy steep mountain to get to a bridge that offers an amazing view.

The castle down the hill is Schloss Hohenschwangau, the childhood home of the king who build Neuschwanstein.

After that we kept driving South and finally landed in Mittenwald, a tiny village in the Alps where Caro used to work. We checked in at the Post Hotel where we spent three nights. Here are some of the pictures from Mittenwald:

The lake halfway up the mountains where we went to swim and spend a nice lazy day in the blistering sun:

They had a parade of all the different traditional Bavarian clothing which was very cool to see:

Then we went up the Alps in a gondola!

It was the most amazing part of our trip, just being up there. Every direction was endless mountains. So cool!

(Cont. in next post.)

Continued from previous

The next day we ducked into Austria. Innsbruck actually, to go to the Swarovski Kristallwelten or "Crystal Worlds" -- an art gallery of sorts.

Each piece used Swarovski crystal in some way.

It was a really beautiful place. I know some of the reviews are poor because people think they're headed into a museum and it's more like an acid trip, but if you know a little before you go, it's really awesome.

After we were finished there we turned North and headed home!

I'll leave it there for now. I'll try to finish up (or close to it) next post!

All caught up!! Great pictures and trip report from Germany. I would really like to go to Germany sometime and see something other than the Frankfurt Airport.:rotfl2:

You've finally gotten to my part of Germany. :) My brother was stationed in Wurzburg and I lived in Mannheim. Aren't the Alps stunning? Loved Newuschwanstein!

Jill in CO

Love the Germany pictures. If we make it there in a year or so we are definitely going to Neuschwanstein. I want to stand on the Alps too.
Great pictures.

Hmm, you know I was just thinking that there should be some good karma coming your way for the Mine Train since you have this Germany TR going, and the Snow White story is a German story. It's gonna happen.

Haha, sometimes getting lost is the best way to see a new place.

Wow, the Alps. That must have been awe inspiring.

I'll come back to read your update.

But in response to this:

"I am so excited!! I'm not sure who Tim is, what would his DIS name be? I hope he doesn't mind if I crash your meet, but I'm extra excited for two meets in one!" -- go look at my PTR and find "that's nice". He won't mind you crashing at all.

Got caught up on your upcoming trip and Germany.

Glad you got some FP- It really is so nice knowing that you are all set for those rides. My fingers are crossed for the Mine Train for you!!! I got my (single) ride about a week out, so I think there is still hope.

Wurzburg/Stuttgart is a beautiful, old world city.

Love the pictures of the castle- who lives (lived) there?

I can't read my own writing, and too lazy to go back for the correct spelling, but the Schols...... Valley is gorgeous. And another castle!

Mitterwald looks like a nice little lake retreat.

How often is the parade? Daily? 3:00? or on some other schedule?

Holy Scared of Heights, Batman! That is one high gondola! Love, love love the views of the mountains.

The Crystal Palace (see what I did there) in Austria looks pretty neat!

:goodvibes

Aw I love Schloss Neuschwanstein. Such beautiful pictures of it!

It always drove me crazy you couldn't take pictures in the castle. I understand there are multiple reasons, but I wish I had something more than my memory to rely on when I think back to my trips around Europe.

That Swarovski place looks freaky. Not sure I'd want to visit it! "And it's more like an acid trip" indeed! Though that tiger is stunning.

WOW your trip is soon!!

Wendy, beautiful pictures of your travels in Germany.

I'm so glad you enjoyed Tarzan...even if it was in German.

The parade pictures with the traditional bavarian clothing are great.

But the pictures in the Alps...nothing can top those. Stunning!

omg!! The views in the alps is incredible! I mean terrifying, but incredible at the same time!!! :lmao:

Thanks! I recommend Germany to anyone and everyone, it's really something to see. The airport is massive though! :rotfl:

Oh cool! We only spent a few hours in Wurzburg, but it was a really interesting city. The Alps... I could have just stayed up there looking around forever!

Love the Germany pictures. If we make it there in a year or so we are definitely going to Neuschwanstein. I want to stand on the Alps too.
Great pictures.
Neuschwanstein is gorgeous! A bit of a tourist trap of course, lots of people there, but really beautiful. The Alps are stunning. And thanks!

LOVE the logic there, but so far it didn't work out that way. Two weeks to go, I'm still not giving up!!
Yes, getting lost was a great way to see the city!
The Alps... I can't say enough about them. I already can't wait to do it again.

I'll come back to read your update.

I did go lurking a little, I'm so excited for a big meet up! :thumbsup2

Thanks Dee! Still no luck, but I'm keeping on checking. Also, even if it's the only thing I have to stand in line for, everything else should be quick. :thumbsup2

Wurzburg/Stuttgart is a beautiful, old world city.

Love the pictures of the castle- who lives (lived) there?
I honestly can't remember. Such a good historian I am. I do believe a line of Dukes.

I can't read my own writing, and too lazy to go back for the correct spelling, but the Schols...... Valley is gorgeous. And another castle!

Mitterwald looks like a nice little lake retreat.
It's such a gorgeous village, I adore the place.

How often is the parade? Daily? 3:00? or on some other schedule?
Believe it or not, it's only held once every two years! So we were very lucky to get to see it!

Holy Scared of Heights, Batman! That is one high gondola! Love, love love the views of the mountains.
I'm not (normally!) afraid of heights at all, but that one made my knees wobble. Worth it though!

The Crystal Palace (see what I did there) in Austria looks pretty neat!
It was! Hehe I kept saying that too, the Crystal Palace. It was like something out of Alice in Wonderland... but very interesting!

:goodvibes

It always drove me crazy you couldn't take pictures in the castle. I understand there are multiple reasons, but I wish I had something more than my memory to rely on when I think back to my trips around Europe.
Agreed. And I was too cheap to buy the picture book in the gift shop... but now I kinda regret not buying it!

That Swarovski place looks freaky. Not sure I'd want to visit it! "And it's more like an acid trip" indeed! Though that tiger is stunning.
Very freaky, Alice in Wonderland kind of stuff. But beautiful, and very artistic. I did enjoy it!

WOW your trip is soon!!
Two weeks from today... I can't believe it!

Saturday and Sunday were beautiful, but I worked both days (9:30-3:30 and 10:30-4:30) so my "long weekend" consisted on being off Monday, which was a dreary day.
Still a nice weekend! 2 out of 3 isn't bad!

Wendy, beautiful pictures of your travels in Germany.
Thanks Kathy!

I'm so glad you enjoyed Tarzan...even if it was in German.
It was a great show, very entertaining. :thumbsup2

The parade pictures with the traditional bavarian clothing are great.
You know, I didn't expect to like it as much as I did, but it was a really great and very interesting parade!

But the pictures in the Alps...nothing can top those. Stunning!
Agreed, nothing will top those for me either. I loved it up there.

omg!! The views in the alps is incredible! I mean terrifying, but incredible at the same time!!! :lmao:
You got it! Pretty scary being up that high, but so worth it!!
