Dole Whip is a Dish Best Served Cold. A Sept PTR- 10/2 - TR POSTED!

Your Robin Williams tribute was so well said Wendy. I honestly though it was a joke when I first heard. A bad joke, but a joke nonetheless. So very very sad.

YAY for Disney tickets!!! It seems so much more real when you have that done. Since they're real tickets, you should have no problem adding them on MyDisneyExperience and getting on to the FP's.

Haha, all that way to feed livestock. But it's German livestock so that makes it cool.

Ah now that is very cool.. Snow White themed restaurant. I love it.

I think you gals chose right by getting the ice cream. Much better than climbing.

Ice cream is definitely better than climbing. :thumbsup2

All the tributes for Robin Williams have been so great. Just so so sad!! I loved the genie, of course and Dead Poets Society is one of my all-time favorites.

The tickets should have a code on the back that you enter on mde to link your tickets. I bought mine from undercover tourist and had no problems.

Cool pics from Germany. Looks like a totally fun day! Having a combined pool like that sounds really fun!

Yay for saving $20 on the tickets! :cool1: Every little bit does help! :thumbsup2

Nice that you got the tickets; makes it more real, eh? I don't see why you'd have any FP+ problems with them; just link em up and away you go! (I hope)

Steinau looks like good old fashioned Deutsches fun! Love the animals just wandering around begging for food, and I don't think you could have gotten me on that toboggan.

Whoa, I would never have been able to climb to that platform so high up there with what appears to be a rickety ladder! :scared: Also, the pool with the sand and rocks looks like something I would have loved! Very much enjoying the Germany updates; hope that we get to hear about the whole trip!

Yay! Tickets! Hopefully you get them quick to add to MDE to make your FP+. Going to be rough for you getting up for midnight Eastern standard though, are you 1 or 2 hours ahead? (Unless you don't worry about it, which beware their may be no 7DMT then!)

What a fun day in Germany! Animals are fun but I love the zip lining and carabining! That looks like you had a great time!! lol, why would someone who can't swim go into the deep end?! :rotfl:

Very sad about Robin. He was greatly cherished and will be very missed.

It's hard to believe that your trip is coming so close already. I've been listening to Disney planning podcasts as of late and I soooooo need to get back there. I'm dying to go. I keep telling myself... 2015. I'll get there in 2015. I certainly hope I do anyway!

I'm loving seeing your Germany pictures. The Snow White themed restaurant seems cool.

The dog went to the restaurant WITH you?

I love the directions you posted to Singing Mom about how to get to Cape Breton! I am extremely directionally challenged and I think even I could follow those and get to you (and I would be traveling that same East Coast highway). The road works both ways, though! If you ever need to go to Boston...

Hunfeld and Fulda look beautiful. What amazing, gorgeous buildings!!!

My boys would to absolutely nuts over the gummy shop!!! My tastes run more to the chocolate spectrum, but the others in my family love gummies!

I wouldn't pass up any of those cakes at Café Ideal, though!

:goodvibes

Here's the problem with binge-reading to catch up.

Your post about breaking the bank and scrambling for every penny made me smile, and your post about Robin Williams made me tear up. What a tremendous loss for the world. Today I saw on the news a clip of Robin interacting with Koko the gorilla (who knows 1000 human words). Then they showed a picture of Koko when she (I think she) learned that Robin had died. Such a sad picture.

:sad1:

I see that you purchased your park tickets.

:yay:

I can't see any reason you can't link those up as you would any other tickets.

And hopefully some encouraging news- I have made FP reservations twice- the first time for 120 students/chaperones for the class trip in June, 2 weeks out. They weren't able to get Mine Train FP, but just about everything else they wanted was available at the right times.

I also just made FP reservations, less than 2 weeks out for my Beach Club trip. I originally did not have park tickets, but a couple found their way into my possession last week. On the first round, I couldn't get the Mine Train. Then, I had to cancel the ones I had, and when I went to reschedule, I was able to get Mine Train, Peter Pan and Big Thunder for next Tuesday!!!

:cool1:

One final comment, regarding Disney gift cards. I get mine at Sam's Club, at about a 6-7% discount. You can get $100 worth of cards for about $93 or $94. As you say, every dollar counts. After our trip to DL, we used all of our Disney Visa points, but I still have $13.05 available for next week. That is a solo QS meal right there!

:thumbsup2

The activities in Steinau look like a lot of fun! Was the ziplining part of the same amusement park, or a different place.

The Snow White restaurant is really cute- I always have these thoughts about whether Disney has given permission when I see places like this. I'm betting no.

The pictures of you two feeding the animals are adorable. I agree- goats are really pushy. We have 3 goats on the farm where I work, and they are so aggressive that the sheep usually won't come by to be fed.

Pizza sounds like an awesome end to the day!

:)

That's a really good way to do it. Disney gift cards! Where do you get them? Online? Or a Disney store?

I buy them at my local grocery store. They run promotions giving 4x fuel points that I can use to save up to a dollar a gallon on gas. It's a double bonus!

Your Robin Williams tribute was so well said Wendy. I honestly though it was a joke when I first heard. A bad joke, but a joke nonetheless. So very very sad.
I did too. I actually said out loud; "Oh right, sure." I was completely shocked when I found out it was true. :sad2:

YAY for Disney tickets!!! It seems so much more real when you have that done. Since they're real tickets, you should have no problem adding them on MyDisneyExperience and getting on to the FP's.
It's one more step done! I'm really hoping that I'll have no problem with linking them. I guess this whole thing is a big experiment!

Haha, all that way to feed livestock. But it's German livestock so that makes it cool.
Hahaha let me tell you, German goats are the same as Canadian goats. But it was still a fun day. :thumbsup2

Ah now that is very cool.. Snow White themed restaurant. I love it.

I think you gals chose right by getting the ice cream. Much better than climbing.
Johnny could have kept climbing all day (and all trip!) but we were content with our ice cream. :thumbsup2

Ice cream is definitely better than climbing. :thumbsup2
I agree, although Johnny wouldn't!

All the tributes for Robin Williams have been so great. Just so so sad!! I loved the genie, of course and Dead Poets Society is one of my all-time favorites.
It's a really horrific loss for sure. Genie is my all time favourite Robin character, so well suited to each other. :goodvibes

The tickets should have a code on the back that you enter on mde to link your tickets. I bought mine from undercover tourist and had no problems.
Oh good, I'm glad to hear that. I'll be interested to see the whole process from outside the bubble!

Cool pics from Germany. Looks like a totally fun day! Having a combined pool like that sounds really fun!
It was really a fun day! I loved it. So did Johnny, he says that was his favourite thing on the whole trip.

Yay for saving $20 on the tickets! :cool1: Every little bit does help! :thumbsup2
Absolutely, that's a couple of quick service meals or some food and wine offerings right there!

Nice that you got the tickets; makes it more real, eh? I don't see why you'd have any FP+ problems with them; just link em up and away you go! (I hope)
It does, one more piece of concrete proof that I really am going! I hope I can get some good FP+ selections now!

Steinau looks like good old fashioned Deutsches fun! Love the animals just wandering around begging for food, and I don't think you could have gotten me on that toboggan.
Ahh the toboggan thing was fun! Not too steep or fast, and you control the brake. :thumbsup2

Whoa, I would never have been able to climb to that platform so high up there with what appears to be a rickety ladder! :scared: Also, the pool with the sand and rocks looks like something I would have loved! Very much enjoying the Germany updates; hope that we get to hear about the whole trip!
I considered it. I was so tired by that point though that I just didn't want to climb that far! :rotfl2:
I have every intention of writing about the whole trip! I just hope I have time!

Yay! Tickets! Hopefully you get them quick to add to MDE to make your FP+. Going to be rough for you getting up for midnight Eastern standard though, are you 1 or 2 hours ahead? (Unless you don't worry about it, which beware their may be no 7DMT then!)
Just one hour ahead, but I'm NOT a night owl. :rotfl2: I might just try the next morning and hope for the best. If I don't get 7DMT, then I guess I'm going standby!

What a fun day in Germany! Animals are fun but I love the zip lining and carabining! That looks like you had a great time!! lol, why would someone who can't swim go into the deep end?! :rotfl:
Omg. He really believes he can swim. He absolutely can't. He sinks! Not to mention we had done so much exercise that day that his foot started cramping. He's convinced he's a good swimmer and he makes me crazy because I've literally saved his life in the water twice in the 11 years we've been together. :headache:

Very sad about Robin. He was greatly cherished and will be very missed.
It's a real loss for the whole entertainment world. I want to watch all of his movies... once the sting of loss wears off... :sad2:

It's hard to believe that your trip is coming so close already. I've been listening to Disney planning podcasts as of late and I soooooo need to get back there. I'm dying to go. I keep telling myself... 2015. I'll get there in 2015. I certainly hope I do anyway!
You definitely should go next year, maybe even late November. ;) ;)

I'm loving seeing your Germany pictures. The Snow White themed restaurant seems cool.
It was cute, especially the little chair backs.

The dog went to the restaurant WITH you?
Yeh. We ate outside... I guess this is a normal thing. :confused3

I love the directions you posted to Singing Mom about how to get to Cape Breton! I am extremely directionally challenged and I think even I could follow those and get to you (and I would be traveling that same East Coast highway). The road works both ways, though! If you ever need to go to Boston...
I have family in Boston and I always say I'd like to go visit some time. I'll let you know if I ever follow my own directions in reverse. :thumbsup2

Hunfeld and Fulda look beautiful. What amazing, gorgeous buildings!!!
They were, really so different and something to see.

My boys would to absolutely nuts over the gummy shop!!! My tastes run more to the chocolate spectrum, but the others in my family love gummies!

I wouldn't pass up any of those cakes at Café Ideal, though!
I'm with you, definitely more a chocolate lover, but Johnny adores gummies (mostly just the German ones though!)
Johnny's berry and pastry and ricotta was to die for. I wanted to sample one of each!

I had to go find that picture and my heart is just breaking. Amazing when someone is so beloved across species barriers.

I see that you purchased your park tickets.

So I've been hearing. I can't think of any logical reason, but it doesn't stop me from worrying!

Sounds good to me!! Woohoo for Mine Train! Hope I have some luck like that!
:cool1:

Ahhh man, wish I had that option! That's awesome!

:thumbsup2

The activities in Steinau look like a lot of fun! Was the ziplining part of the same amusement park, or a different place.
The ziplining and carabining were seperate from the amusement park, just a little bit up the road though.

The Snow White restaurant is really cute- I always have these thoughts about whether Disney has given permission when I see places like this. I'm betting no.
That's my guess also. :rotfl2:

The pictures of you two feeding the animals are adorable. I agree- goats are really pushy. We have 3 goats on the farm where I work, and they are so aggressive that the sheep usually won't come by to be fed.
My best friend used to have 4 little goats and they ate the horses' tails all the time. They would also eat the horses' grain and push the horse out of the way with their horns. Little jerks! :rotfl:

Pizza sounds like an awesome end to the day!
It was, and delicious Italian style pizza at that!

:)

I buy them at my local grocery store. They run promotions giving 4x fuel points that I can use to save up to a dollar a gallon on gas. It's a double bonus!

Wow, that's awesome! I wish we had an option like that around here!

Subbing on...popcorn::

Have read about half way through- so still in suspense as to whether your Disney trip is happening this year (but I think it is based on above replies - glanced at :) I was snorting over my iced tea at everyone trying to "comfort" you on staying offsite- but I'd feel a bit the same way...

Either way looking forward to hearing about Germany- sounds like a fab trip... (As fabulous as Disney is- it's good to sometimes shake things up :woohoo:)

I hope you get to stay where you want for your 5th anniversary... We have a short and very spontaneous trip planned in December -that we planned less than 6 months out- more like 5 and we weren't able to get a room at our home DVC- BC- and the only resorts available were SSR and OKW so we're going to give OKW a go... fingers crossed...(I've read good things on the boards)

So back to reading to see how everything works out... Congrats on selling your art- that's very exciting...:goodvibes

Patricia!! :welcome: so good to see you!

Omg it's absolutely awful, I'm a spoiled, petulant little child about this whole thing! I can hear myself saying it too... " I don't WANNA stay off site!" Hahaha I think now that we're so close, I'm over that though, thankfully. Just going to go and see how it all goes down! (Oops, spoiler alert! :rotfl2: )

Either way looking forward to hearing about Germany- sounds like a fab trip... (As fabulous as Disney is- it's good to sometimes shake things up :woohoo:)
You're so right, it was nice to do something different. It was hard to convince Johnny that it would be worth it and everything doesn't HAVE to be a Disney trip. He gets it now, thankfully. :thumbsup2

I've also read good things, I'm sure it will work out wonderfully for you!

Thank you! I was very excited about that :goodvibes

Just cancelled my much coveted 8:00am Crystal Palace reservation. :(
Story to follow. Let's just say this family meeting didn't go my way.

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Hey guys! How's your weekend going?

url

I just got back from the Mother in law's house. We had a meeting, of sorts.

giphy.gif

Present were myself, Johnny, his mother, Kevin (step-father), Shellie and the kids. Shellie informed me that she wasn't planning on doing Crystal Palace... apparently the kids don't eat much for breakfast and she figures it wouldn't be worth it.

url

I'm not sure if she was planning on telling me but it was nice to find out now since my credit card was holding the reservation.

200_s.gif

Anyway after she and the kids left Johnny and I talked to his mother about whether we should keep the reservation for us. She figured Kevin wouldn't want to go (also he doesn't eat much breakfast so it would be a $25 cup of tea...) Johnny, his mother, and I have all done this meal before and really aren't into the characters enough to be worth it. We were all really doing it for the kids.

So...

url

Next year I am going to plan every single detail exactly the way I like it. I can't wait.

giphy.gif

Also we really didn't get much else planned which was frustrating. We basically have it figured out... roughly... but Johnny and I are just going to go ahead and plan things the way we want and if they want to come along, great! If not? We go our own way.

url

Our schedule now looks like this:

Saturday (arrive, late)
Sunday -- (All) Shopping and Downtown Disney (T-Rex 3:30)
Monday -- (All) Disney's Hollywood Studios (All day, hope to arrive at rope drop)
Tuesday -- (All) Universal Studios, then Capones Dinner Theatre
Wednesday -- (All) Magic Kingdom (All day, hope again to arrive at rope drop)
Thursday -- (MIL, S-FIL, S, B, kids) - Universal day 2 (Johnny and I) - EPCOT (all day, arrive at rope drop, stay for IllumiNations)
Friday -- We might go to the Boardwalk for dinner at ESPN. Johnny and I *might* get another day added on our ticket and go to AK. Up in the air for now.
Saturday -- Go home.

I don't know at all about Friday. They were talking about mini-putt (shoot me...) or other Florida activities. Seriously. Add me on another Disney day and you all can do as you please.

url

S-FIL said that the only thing in the whole trip he wants to do is Soarin, but none of them are even going to Epcot. Such a great bunch for communication! When Johnny and I said we're doing a whole day of Food & Wine festival, his parents really wanted to come with us so I can see them adding on a day. Shellie said she wants to do Soarin too... but won't do Epcot because she thinks there's more for the kids to do at DHS. She's probably right, they're probably too young to enjoy any of the World Showcase.

url

Anyhoo... That's my news for now. Johnny and I are currently going through the quick service restaurants at Hollywood Studios. I really don't love the QS options there, but I guess we'll find something.

tumblr_me9w7zkSOj1rncdgao1_500.gif

I keep telling myself that the minute I step in those park gates everything is going to be amazing and we will have a great time. Right?

url

Coming up next, I'm going to start going through the full day plans. Mostly for my own sanity, I need to plan out something! :rotfl2:
