Today was a scheduled rest day. Issue is that Im clearly the only in my family who enjoys resting
DH ran off to the gym before breakfast. He actually went to the gym every day. Personally, I found this nuts. We spent all day walking and he needed to add a 3 mile run??? Okey Dokey! Instead, I fed DD and brought her down to Arts and Crafts
Today was ceramic painting day. For $5, your child can make a creation that takes all week to dry! So as a word to the wise, do this activity at the BEGINNING of your trip!
After this, we all did some swimming and headed to the Mara for lunch. DD had a bit of a meltdown at lunchtime because she was bored. Again, why doesnt my family value downtime??? She announced that she wanted to go back to AK to ride Expedition Everest or go to DTD to the
Lego Store. Neither of which would work out. I figured out that by the time we got back upstairs, changed, got out to the bus, rode the bus and headed back out for our ADRs at OHanas, that would only give us about an hour left over. And an hour isnt enough to do either properly. So I convinced everyone to stay put. We knew we would be out late that night so I really wanted to squeeze in a nap. We headed back upstairs and the cleaning lady was cleaning our room. So I sat in the hallway and waited. DH took DD to look for some red hogs or something like that. They came back and I was still in the hallway
40 minutes later. I cant believe how thorough these Mousekeeping CMs are. My room wasnt even messy!
While I was sitting on the floor, I had time to see the injuries on DDs leg. The night before she was apparently climbing on the lounge chairs by the pool (pretending to be Sharpay in HSM2) and fell through the opening in the lounge chair. I was upstairs backing up my pics on the laptop and DH had taken her swimming. He came upstairs panicked that she had broken her leg. There wasnt a mark on her on Sunday night but we iced it anyway. Thank God we did. Here is the result. (I stupidly focused on the carpet instead of her leg but you can still make out the extensive bruising. It went from her hip to her ankle on both side of her leg.
After Mousekeeping left and I photographed by poor battered child (!) we were finally able to get into our room and take a nap. I felt kinda bad messing up the beds she just spent 40 minutes making.
After a nap, we headed out to OHanas.
So this was the first time Ive ever set foot in the Poly. I loved the thought of the Poly, reminding me of all those trips that Ive taken to tropical locales pre-kiddo. Walking in
all I could think was Brady Bunch. Obviously I didnt see much of the hotel but my dreams of staying at the Poly were satisfied by just eating there. I just wasnt feeling the décor.
When we got to OHana, we had a bit of a wait so DD entertained people with some dancing
When we got into OHanas
only 2 minutes after our ADR time!!!...the coconut races were about to start. The CM immediately invited DD to join in. Obviously, this quickly became DDs favorite restaurant EVER!
During the meal, they had loads of activities for kids. DD was quite thrilled with dancing and limbo contests
While she was partying, DH and I enjoyed one of these
If you havent eaten at OHanas, taken this advice. Dont eat that day. Because OHana will give you enough food to feed a small army. Seriously. We asked them to stop bring food. They didnt listen. We begged them not to bring dessert. They didnt listen. I felt very guilty about all the wasted food. But the food that didnt go to waste was really yummy! And for the first time since we landed in Florida, DD ate something BESIDES mac & cheese for dinner!
We were the only couple celebrating our anniversary so they had a nice anniversary dance for us (I Cant Help Falling in Love with you-Elvis)
Our dance was short lived because DD aka jealous jumped in on the action
After dinner we headed over to MK for Spectro and WISHES. I was supposed to meet up with DISer MistyMouse who was there on her sons wish trip. I texted her and found out that she was by the Walt Statue. Problem is that I thought she meant THIS Walt Statue
She meant
THIS Walt Statue
(thank you LL for letting me steal your pic!)
So we fought our way up Main St with Spectro going on. I did get a couple of shots of Spectro on the way
(this one is kinda cool because that shadow is DD on DHs shoulders!)
After Spectro was done and I realized our mistake, we had to battle this crowd to get back up front to Misty in time for WISHES
After a lot of searching, we found Misty and Dilly. We had a brief introduction and moment to chat before Wishes started and poor Dilly freaked out. Apparently he was NOT a fan of loud noises. DD was a little sad he couldnt stay because she just LOVES little boys (God help me when shes a teen!) A took a couple of more shots of WISHES and then we headed back to AKL after the show. Wishes is one of those shows that I could see over and over again and never get sick of. That particular night, DD announced that she NEEDED the CD so the tightwad that she is actually took out her spending money and bought it on the way out of the park. So now we can listen to WISHES every day!
