Does the Pixie Dust count if you don't KNOW about it? Finally Finished :( 11/24

I have loved reading your trip report!! We are taking my DD next year and she will be 4 so it is nice to see what works with a 4yr old. Great pics, your daughter is beautiful and I love all the custom clothes. That will be my favorite part of the planning!
Cant wait to read the rest of the report!!

:welcome: Thanks for reading!

Today was a scheduled “rest” day. Issue is that I’m clearly the only in my family who enjoys “resting”

DH ran off to the gym before breakfast. He actually went to the gym every day. Personally, I found this nuts. We spent all day walking and he needed to add a 3 mile run??? Okey Dokey! Instead, I fed DD and brought her down to Arts and Crafts

Today was ceramic painting day. For $5, your child can make a creation that takes all week to dry! So as a word to the wise, do this activity at the BEGINNING of your trip!

After this, we all did some swimming and headed to the Mara for lunch. DD had a bit of a meltdown at lunchtime because she was “bored.” Again, why doesn’t my family value downtime??? She announced that she wanted to go back to AK to ride Expedition Everest or go to DTD to the Lego Store. Neither of which would work out. I figured out that by the time we got back upstairs, changed, got out to the bus, rode the bus and headed back out for our ADRs at O’Hanas, that would only give us about an hour left over. And an hour isn’t enough to do either properly. So I convinced everyone to stay put. We knew we would be out late that night so I really wanted to squeeze in a nap. We headed back upstairs and the cleaning lady was cleaning our room. So I sat in the hallway and waited. DH took DD to look for some red hogs or something like that. They came back and I was still in the hallway…40 minutes later. I can’t believe how thorough these Mousekeeping CMs are. My room wasn’t even messy!

While I was sitting on the floor, I had time to see the injuries on DD’s leg. The night before she was apparently climbing on the lounge chairs by the pool (pretending to be Sharpay in HSM2) and fell through the opening in the lounge chair. I was upstairs backing up my pics on the laptop and DH had taken her swimming. He came upstairs panicked that she had broken her leg. There wasn’t a mark on her on Sunday night but we iced it anyway. Thank God we did. Here is the result. (I stupidly focused on the carpet instead of her leg but you can still make out the extensive bruising. It went from her hip to her ankle on both side of her leg.

After Mousekeeping left and I photographed by poor battered child (!) we were finally able to get into our room and take a nap. I felt kinda bad messing up the beds she just spent 40 minutes making.
After a nap, we headed out to OHanas.

So this was the first time I’ve ever set foot in the Poly. I loved the thought of the Poly, reminding me of all those trips that I’ve taken to tropical locales pre-kiddo. Walking in…all I could think was “Brady Bunch.” Obviously I didn’t see much of the hotel but my dreams of staying at the Poly were satisfied by just eating there. I just wasn’t feeling the décor.
When we got to O’Hana, we had a bit of a wait so DD entertained people with some dancing

When we got into O’Hanas…only 2 minutes after our ADR time!!!...the coconut races were about to start. The CM immediately invited DD to join in. Obviously, this quickly became DD’s favorite restaurant EVER!

During the meal, they had loads of activities for kids. DD was quite thrilled with dancing and limbo contests

While she was partying, DH and I enjoyed one of these

If you haven’t eaten at O’Hanas, taken this advice. Don’t eat that day. Because O’Hana will give you enough food to feed a small army. Seriously. We asked them to stop bring food. They didn’t listen. We begged them not to bring dessert. They didn’t listen. I felt very guilty about all the wasted food. But the food that didn’t go to waste was really yummy! And for the first time since we landed in Florida, DD ate something BESIDES mac & cheese for dinner!

We were the only couple celebrating our anniversary so they had a nice anniversary dance for us (I Can’t Help Falling in Love with you-Elvis)

Our dance was short lived because DD “aka jealous” jumped in on the action

After dinner we headed over to MK for Spectro and WISHES. I was supposed to meet up with DISer MistyMouse who was there on her son’s wish trip. I texted her and found out that she was by the Walt Statue. Problem is that I thought she meant THIS Walt Statue

(thank you LL for letting me steal your pic!)

So we fought our way up Main St with Spectro going on. I did get a couple of shots of Spectro on the way

(this one is kinda cool because that shadow is DD on DH’s shoulders!)

After Spectro was done and I realized our mistake, we had to battle this crowd to get back up front to Misty in time for WISHES

After a lot of searching, we found Misty and Dilly. We had a brief introduction and moment to chat before Wishes started and poor Dilly freaked out. Apparently he was NOT a fan of loud noises. DD was a little sad he couldn’t stay because she just LOVES little boys (God help me when she’s a teen!) A took a couple of more shots of WISHES and then we headed back to AKL after the show. Wishes is one of those shows that I could see over and over again and never get sick of. That particular night, DD announced that she NEEDED the CD so the tightwad that she is actually took out her spending money and bought it on the way out of the park. So now we can listen to WISHES every day!

I registered for the disboutique . I got there from your signature. Thank you very much. I am waiting for an email letting me log in. You are talented too. Your dd make a great model for your creations.

Hi! The pattern I used for Minnie and AK outfit is Simplicity 5531. It's an "easy to sew" one. Minnie is the dress and AK is the top (the bottom is just a skort from Target with a zebra print mickey head appliqued on it)

Here is another really great pattern for Girls. If you go onto Disboutique, you'll find that a lot of them rave about the pattern and have turned it into a LOT of things

Love your trip report, your daughter is gorgeous !! She is a great model for all of your beautiful creations. :)

Love your trip report, I spent all day reading your pretrip and now this ;) I LOVE your autographbook!! Did you print it on cardstock?

What a great update!! You got some amazing pictures of Spectro and Wishes, I might have to steal some of them. I am insanely jealous of your camera and picture taking skills now. ;)

I had to laugh at your DD being Sharpay from HSM. Hehehe. How cute, but sad that she got hurt. I really want to try O'hanas at some point, it sounds really yummy!

And thank you for finally putting the words to how I felt about the Poly decor as well. Brady Bunch is a perfect description! :rotfl2:

I'm thinking the last pic is of Roy so you were at the correct statue (I think) :confused3

Love your pics and report!

I did love that Hawaiin brady bunch episode as a kid though. But I totally agree with you. It's a seventies version of Hawaii.

I always felt so bad about our leftover food in Disney too. Because my kids barely eat we always had trays left untouched. I hope they give it to the animals at AK or something like that.

Nope, I've seen what the feed the animals and it's not our leftovers. I know there are rules against this but they really should leave it for homeless people. I know in the city, they put "good" food in certain colored bags to the homeless know which bags they are in. They should do that.

I third this announcement. DBF and I were also looking forward to someday staying there, but it just looks OLD. We ate at Kona and found the dining area really loud as well.

Oh, Kristine, cute pic of you dancing with your hubby!

Aw thanks :lovestruc

Glad I'm not the only one who found the Poly decor odd. Well for Disney standards...it's odd.

Did anyone catch this weeks What Not to Wear? The chick loved to shop at the Disney Store and had Disney-themed bags. They made her donate them to children. So glad they can't see my closet :happytv:

Looks like a great AK day! Love the AK outfit!

Another great day!

Thanks for the headsup on the activities at AKL.

I've stayed at Poly 4 times and while the decor of the common areas is a bit old looking the rooms are really nice. I really love the resort at night with the tiki torches lit up and the music and watching the castle change colors. It is easy to get to MK via boat or monorail and you can walk to the TTC to catch the direct monorail to Epcot. If it weren't so expensive I'd stay there for every trip. I honestly can't see me going back for a long time now that it is so expensive.

BTW, do you live on the Islands? Why the boat??? I'm embarrassed to admit that I've lived in Mass my whole life (minus my stay in Ireland) and I've NEVER been to Nantucket or the Vineyard!
We're just on the South Shore. We can take a commuter boat from Quincy to Logan. It's a great way to get to the airport-no traffic and relaxing. Only problem is they only have a boat about every hour and I would rather be there early than worry so I take the 6am boat.

I haven't been to Martha's Vinyard since I was a kid but I've been to Nantucket a few times. It is beautiful!

Glad to know at the rooms at Poly have nice decor than the main part. It might have redeemed itself :rotfl: Really, I think the best part is being on the monorail. I would LOVE to be on the monorail. We really liked POP and AKL but they are so far away
