Does SWA lower the prices of its unsold seats in order to sell more seats on a flight? I'm wondering if I should wait and see if a better fare will open up.

Someone may know better, but I waited and got a much better price. I look every day. My dates was originally $350+/pp. After a couple of weeks, I was able to get a price of $216/pp. That's the same price I paid in '04.

Also, are you aware of SWA's DING fares? There's info on their website. I've seen some excellent Ding fares. The problem with DING fares is they're only offered a month or two out usually. I'm hoping for a DING fare to lower my already acceptable fare.

Yes, SWA does quite often put on systemwide sales that will save you money.

I like to book early and keep an eye open; if my fare drops, I get a credit for the difference in price that I can use on any flight within a year.

I'm new to SW and was amazed at their liberal ticket exchange policy. Also, that you can book one way as cheap as round trip? I booked our outbound flight at a very good flight time and rate and waited for the return flight to see if it was going to be reduced. I should have known that with many old-time DISers raving about SW it was worth investigating further.
